#14216403 Target Clearance Thread XXIV

Posted by moopher on 05 October 2019 - 08:06 PM

The Hori D-Pad handheld mode joycons are $9.98 each. Down from $14.99 last week. There were a ton on the shelf at my local store.

E: Some stores might be $15

They have to remain connected and don't have rumble but considering the Switch Lite is a thing, that probably won't be an issue.

I knew it would be a matter of time before these hit clearance as they have sat nearly stagnant for the entire time they’ve been on the shelf at my local stores.

Only one store me currently has these at this price and it’s the Pokemon model, but there were about 20 of them - definitely holding out for 70% off.

Chill out

I never led them to believe the item came from Walmart as a return. I told them I have a game that's brand new and sealed and I asked if it were possible to exchange it for something else or turn it in for store credit. The manager said "ok" and gave me a gift card. I did not deceive them to accept the item. I simply asked the possiblity and they said "ok".

*Whoosh*

Jeez. The last time I played through the DX version on the 3DS I 100% completed it in, like, 12ish hours. Is this new one longer? I thought they were essential identical for content?

Sounds like you might be well-versed in LA. There main game is essentially identical, but there is some side stuff that is updated like Dampe's dungeon maker... a buddy of mine really enjoyed that and easily bogged down multiple hours just fixated on that. Glad to see people enjoying the game and not blazing through it as there is so much joy packed into that game.

FWIW - I've played LA multiple times and the magic was still there with this entry. Couldn't put it down last weekend and wound up finishing it off last Sunday. This is a must-own game.

Looks like it should be 1$ regular price

Good thing what it looks like and what it is are two totally different things. This game is worth full price, and it's a bargain at a mere $4.

I doubt they would have packed in the dock.

Also you are forgetting that the regular switch in docked mode runs games better than handheld mode.  You often get better a better framerate and higher resolution graphics.   Oh and also you are forgetting too that it allows a lot more same screen multiplayer when docked... making it more of a party machine.  Oh and handheld mode, don't discount the larger screen of the regular switch... some games have very small fonts and that will be even harder to deal with on the switch lite.  At least when they are too small on the regular switch you can dock it and play the games on whatever size tv/projector/monitor you have.

Had they allowed the docking feature, I'd have considered the switch for my kids since they could always just use my dock and share a game experience that way.   As is, I'd lean towards the regular switch simply because the  dock and seeing the games running at full framerate/resolution is worth the extra $100.

I didn't forget them, they're barely compelling points for the general consumer to spend an extra $100 - I mean, all of them, aside from the dock, are contingent on a set of circumstances that might come up. Die-hards or those really into gaming are in luck, because the OG Switch was made exactly for them. The Switch Lite is for everyone else.

This may come as a surprise, but occasionally... people sell stolen stuff to GameStop.

Even less surprising and more probable is that people are generally horrible with money and often make poor financial decisions.

I went to media play a lot in high school, and distinctly remember them being pricy. I mostly bought CDs from them

Man, I miss Media Play. The prices were not great, but I don't remember them being particularly horrible either... depending on what you were purchasing, I suppose. I went there mostly for CDs & DVDs during my high school years, pretty much made a weekly trip to blow my paycheck there. I was gutted when they closed down.

why the hostility? i don't think it's that crazy to want to know which values are correct....

Yeah... wasn’t sure why that was so contentious. Oh well.

Our sweet little baby missed his bottle this morning and is fussy, no need to pay attention to him.

lol calm down you guys. The discs are in bad condition (mad scratches) and un-tested. Yeah I know I could have resurfaced the disc but I don't have the tools and time to do them. Those pokemon ds games I traded-in are fake cartridges (after google searching the serial #) but it works and plays fine. I doubt any of you guys would want them here so I flip them to gamestop and I'm surprised GS took them. These games I'm about to trade-in are in badly shape too and incomplete (no manual) and I already own them in my personal collection. I literally got all of these from the thrift stores for about $3-$6 each.

Trading in known fakes/boots is a garbage-person move and is far more egregious than some misinformed trading.

brickseek link for these?

PSA: On the inventory checker page for each respective store, there is a link near the top entitled "SKU Finder," this is where you can search to find the SKU you're after.

#14182815 Target Clearance Thread XXIV

While that is most likely true most of the time, my local target tends to mark many of its clearance items as online items.
I doubt someone is returning stacks of online orders of 2ds, classic nes & phone cases etc. at my target.

I've noticed my local Target seems to have a lot more "Online" and "AS-IS" tags recently in the past couple of months. Could be a clever method for management to discount items while bucking the routine percentage dips traditional clearance items experience.
