Thought about Elite: Dangerous but I'm worried that the learning curve will be a turn off even though I think I would love the game...  (Its sort of like Dark Souls....  I love the concept of super hard games till I'm playing super hard game.)

Its not that bad really. I grabbed it a few days ago and once you figure out the basics everything else is a quick google away. Theres guides out there for every part of the game you can think of

Of course Ive just spent 15min trying to explain to a friend how to map out a trip for a job he is going to take and he still cant understand, so who knows. Once your in it though its not that bad

No idea if this will help - but I had a similar problem last year and it went away when I adjusted my laptop's display to my TV's resolution.

I also set the TV as the primary display.  You can also turn VSYNC on in the in-game settings as well.

Id say this. On alot of cards the vsync will follow whatever is set as the primary display, so if your laptop is set as primary your still going to get tearing. Its one reason why I ditched ati cards a while ago since they would tear like crazy when sending one output to a tv unless it was reset as master, and this was just for watching movies so it was already a constant sub-60fps framerate. At least with more recent nvidia cards (660 and newer) I never had this

Nothing jumps out at me for the Steam sale.  Disappointment out of the way.  I'd be interested in Endless Legend if it didn't have a crapload of DLC.  Prices are mediocre across the board.  Grim Dawn only getting a 30% discount when it's had 50% off in the past.

On EL, I had plenty of fun playing it before without the DLC. Tempted to grab the one on bigger discount that actually adds stuff beyond some bigass new units. Of course probably like ES there will be a gold edition

Unfortunately, there are no Fry's or Microcenters in my neck of the woods.  Which leaves pretty much only Best Buy.  So online it is.  I think WD or Seagate only, as I don't trust any other brands.  And I'm only after 7200 RPM drives.

I know some stores leak their sales in advance.  Was hoping to catch wind of something too good to pass up.

EDIT - and I am not the type to try to beat the crowds on BF.  Much prefer to order comfortably online.

Microcenter will usually have deals online as well

Also if you got usb3 ports theres nothing wrong with using an external for normal use. For the longest time I used an external 3tb usb3 for my game install drive.  I also wouldnt worry about it too much if you miss them or they are in store only. Much like games, once you see that lowest price you know thats what they are willing to sell it for, so chances are you can find it for that same price again online within a month somewhere (one of the many reasons going anywhere for BF is just plain dumb, theres no deals worth that and the deals that are there have either been that price before, will be again shortly, or its a complete piece of shit to get you in the door)

Did anyone here actually buy one of these and try it out?

Is Dying Light ever going to get more DLC? There's not even a discount for buying the ultimate edition, waiting on this to get to $30 or so and then I might buy it.

There is supposed to be one huge expansion coming out, a map the size of the other 2 combined along with vehicles. They claim it will be out Q1 of 2016 though

SWBF is a let down.  How can you go from BF4 to BF, seems like regression.  Like someone else posted on another site.  It feels like a lobotomized battlefield

It just depends on your expectations. If you dont go into it thinking its star wars battlefield then your not disappointed. My whole group that regularly played bf4 for the past 2 years all got battlefront and are loving it so far. Due to the maps its much more close combat in general than bf4 was, but the majority of the maps have so much better layout and intricacies than bf4 did.  The flight mechanics are also much more fun.

The other modes IMHO are also better. We basically only played conquest the entire time as no one ever PTFO'd in the other modes and they just got annoying in BF4. The modes like droids, cargo, etc are just better than bf4's extraneous modes

This song was literally the first thing that popped into my mind this morning when I read sunasun's post.  I'm fairly surprised that someone else here knows this "ghetto house" track.  You from Chicago, Detroit or what?

Its a pretty commonly known song. I think most of the people I knew in HS knew this track and that was in the south

Yeah, GoG is still having regular sales. Every week, in fact. The only reason I don't shop there as often these days is because I already have almost all of the games from their catalog that I want.

+1, until they bring back the OG in GOG there's nothing I want from them. The good portion of their old catalog has all been at >=75% off at some point so until they release new content theres nothing enticing

Even a good amount the lucasarts stuff has been on a pretty big discount already if you caught it during their last insomnia

How are you guys liking Discord?  How is it compared with teamspeak, other comm. apps?

Someday, I would love to join a Bro session, but life, work, wife, etc make it tough.

Its good stuff. We moved our TS server over last week. The others dont even compare at this point, free hosting, good admin tools, modern interface, web/desktop/mobile clients, devs adding tons of features. Cant really ask for much more

that would be horrible, I have far too much invested in groupee coin futures. I was guaranteed they would be worth a fortune on wall street

Thanks! Yup, coming from the console world. I recently setup a steambox mainly to play indie games not available on the console and emulators. Elite looks very interesting. I love space flight games and consoles have very few.

$27 is a solid price from the perspective of a console gamer :P I haven't seen the price dip much for this on either Steam or websites like g2a.

On the fence as whether to get the PC version or wait for the PS4 version. I suspect the console port will be gimped, but I usually prefer playing games on a console... Might just bite on the PC version. Interesting that few people have it around here. It seems to have gotten pretty positive reviews and fills a niche that is lacking in new titles.

I have some friends who play the pc version and love it. They also dont have any problems with it

That being said the main issue with this sale is its a last ditch on their part to grab money before the dlc comes out. Their DLC policy is that you get the base game (and possibly all previous dlc) when you purchase the latest one. So you can either buy the base game now for 27+dlc price at launch, if they continue the pre-owner discount it comes out to be 70something.

Or you can wait for the dlc to launch, buy it at 45 or 60 (whatever price they land on) and you will get the dlc+base game. You could even pre-order the dlc now but you wont be able to play the base game until the dlc is launched

Hah, so I actually got a response about the change:

cyanicGroupees HQ12:08
You can redeem the value of the floating coins for cash whenever the company goes public or if it's purchased.
cyanicGroupees HQ12:08
Other than that, no change is by design.

When the company goes public? As in wall street and shit? Yea thats definitely going to be something everyone wants in their portfolio, a company who's sole product is bundling together crap no one wants to purchase by itself to sell at the price of a bag of chips. I see huge returns on that one
