Any of you gentle, cheap Asses watching for good NVMe deals with Black Friday approaching? Hoping for a decent 2TB, but might settle for 2 x 1TB depending on the brand/cost/speed/etc.

Seems like right now its ~100 for 1tb, 200 for 2tb. I recently picked up a microcenter one, https://www.microcen...lid_State_Drive

You can also find the intel 660p's for cheaper, however keep in mind a lot of the ones that are going to be cheaper are going to be this newer QLC flash. When compared to the older TLC like in the microcenter and slightly more expensive ones, QLC is going to be 50% of the speed and 1/10 of the lifetime (theres a reason they a cheaper, easier to make but with some big downsides)

Not my screenshot, but someone in a Discord I'm in posted this.

Are they in a different region? Im in US and didnt get graveyard or have a choice, but Id wager its a region specific thing where they either dont have region keys for them or aren't allowed to

No (limited) scary game sale on Steam the weekend before Halloween?

Is Valve really going to wait until Tuesday - just 48 hours before the season - to get in the Halloween mood?  That seems odd.

I mean, that's how they've rolled in the past, but with Halloween falling on a Thursday, I would've thought the games they put on sale for the weekend would surely be scary-themed.

The 28th was the leaked date

yea the only good deal is the old classic, otherwise its 15$ for your choice of 3 out of 10, which is garbage, 20$ for 9, which is garbage, or if you just pause/unpase and grab what you want its still 12

thats all assuming they still let you pause in the future and maintain the 12$ price after you unpaused once.  Currently you can pause and maintain the price but they haven't said whats going to happen in the future with pausing

I just subbed for the first time to get these games. If I cancel the account right now will I still get the rest of the games for November?

Yea you will get them, you might lose the humble store discount though, so if you're planning on buying other stuff it might be handy to keep around. Just make sure you cancel the thursday before the bundle unlocks, because that friday-ish you wont be able to cancel anymore and will be locked in to the next month

the k400 is a good standby to have for any situation since it usually works with anything (linux, android, win, etc) so its a good kbm in a pinch. I used one with the htpc for a while and yea it can work ok for slower games and generic living room use

Id recommend a razer turret if you want a real living room kbm, however it looks like they got rid of the pc version and now have some xbox version so no clue if it works with pc, and jacked up the price 100$ to boot. It used to be worth it during their 50% off sales to get a living room full kbm setup for ~75$, but 250$ meh, you can probably cobble something together better yourself

I think alot of the goes back to the old conventional wisdom that stock coolers suck and any real pc builder uses after market. That's changed in recent years. I'm using the Wraith cooler that came with my Ryzen chip and it's a great cooler. Not sure about Intel stock coolers. I know some Ryzen chips don't come with a cooler at all.

^

From what Ive heard the ryzen wraiths are pretty adequate as a stock cooler. Intel on the other hand if you are buying an unlocked chip dont even come with coolers, and even if they do intel's stock coolers are pretty bad

Why not just cancel the week before each new monthly drop, then decide if you want it after the headliners are released?

Thats mostly what I do, since if I already own the headliners or dont want them, theres a pretty good chance the rest of the bundle isnt going to make up for that

I will say that the bigger your hands the more you'll lean towards the XB controllers.

This is why I use xbox controllers, to impress the ladies

Thanks Dark_Sage, I'll probably go with the 3700x. Does Newegg or Micro Center tend to have black friday deals on mobo's and cpu's?

newegg probably, microcenter not so much, they only do a monthly set of deals and thats it, almost never one off time limited deals.  They do always have the mobo+cpu combo deals though, and sometimes they stack on more. I.e. last time I built one there years ago I had multiple stacking discounts from mobo+cpu+ram+ssd

And what the refresh rate on the monitor is: 60hz? 75hz? 90hz? 120hz? 144hz? 240hz?

Why it comes w/ USB 2.0, who knows. USB 3.0 would be much better, at least.

Maybe they're giving you more really cheap ports for...you to have more ports to toss in stuff that really don't need the speed  for you to plug in there?

If you need more USB 3.0 ports, you could just buy a portable USB 3.0 hub; it's what I did.

Its just what the chipset version supports. Like each new revision 250/270/310/370/390, they support different setups, and have slowly been phasing in more and more usb3 over usb2. It also depends on the extra storage controller the mobo manuf puts on there (at least on desktops not so much laptops) since sometimes those also come with extra usb2/3 support and so you end up with more coming off of those

I would second dell, I still dont know why they get shit all over for laptops. I bought a c2d with some gtx in it like 13 years ago, never had an issue, my parents still use that laptop to this day as their daily machine. The wife also had a dell laptop a few years newer and even though she doesnt use it anymore last time I tried it still booted up just fine
