As long as people who bought the full set of Vita games from LRG are for sure able to get the last Vita game I am cool with waiting however long it takes. Hard to complain about something that is being given away free as a token of appreciation.

Nicalis have been such asses regarding the Vita.

Received in the mail today: 2 games from SLG, 1 game from LRG, and a fully shrinkwrapped new game from GameStop. Feel like I need to go play the lottery later on.

Check this out, $24 shipping for two books crammed into a mailer lol what a fucking joke

https://twitter.com/...791888097353738

Doesn't even look like a good bubble mailer either. Looks more like the kind of thin plastic poorly padded bag a lot of online clothing retailers use. No way the weight of two of those books necessitate a $24 shipping charge. At that price the books should be in a well-protected box, and even then $24 is a bit absurd. Crazy that a company that specializes in collector's items still cannot properly package things well.

So the Star Wars collections of Jedi Knight/Jedi Academy & Racer/Republic Commando are no longer LRG exclusive. THQNordic/Embracer Group, who owns Aspyr, is putting those two packs out on PS4, possibly as GameStop exclusives.

Seems to be a SoR 4 situation all over again.

Noticed those games being put up this morning and was surprised. Glad I didn't get any of the LRG versions. Much better price by getting them from Gamestop. $60 for all 4 is a decent price. I already got burnt by paying double for Hotline Miami 1 and 2 from SRG via LRG, rather than waiting and getting the subsequent retail release of both games in one case for $30.

This.  LRG does appear to be the "Kleenex" equivalent for limited physical releases in the industry.  It's a trusted brand at this point with a track record so it's not surprising that LRG is getting nearly every "big" limited release title.

I don't see this limited physical collector market dying any time soon, especially since more and more publishers are already starting to pull out of disc releases.  Also, there are still dinosaurs (like me) who are older games in this space who grew up/remember buying physical games.  As long as there are older players (who have more disposable income) willing to throw dollars at nostalgia plays, LRG will be around.

That all said, I don't see LRG as a growth business.  It's profit model is connected to the hip to an older gaming generation.  It's basically on a Blockbuster path.  May be it can innovate to be something else, but at some point (if it hasn't already), it'll have to change the meaning behind "Physical forever," to survive.

Completely agree that LRG will be around for some time to come as long as they are properly managed. I suspect most of their customers are in their 30s-50s, people with money to spend on physical games that are generally quite a bit more expensive than their digital counterparts. People currently in that demographic will be around for decades to come. There have been several limited run companies spring up since LRG started, none of them close to the scale of LRG, with a couple of them already having longer turnarounds than LRG when it comes to when the customer gets the game compared to when they ordered it. At this point the long turnaround on shipping games doesn't seem to be hurting LRG's sales, as customers know that it will be a long wait but continue to order anyway, myself included on occasion.

Their model would take a major hit if all console manufacturers at some point make their consoles exclusively digital. I am near certain, though, that's not happening any time soon. I remember hearing industry commentators back in the mid 2000s speculate that Sony, Nintendo, and MS would be going all digital soon. Still waiting on that one to happen. The industry has exploded since then when it comes to sales of both physical and digital games. That bodes well for LRG. A large amount of people still buy physical games, and there is an absolute ton of digital-only material available to put onto limited-run physical media to keep companies such as LRG going strong. I think that the option for physical games will be around for at least another couple generations of consoles, probably longer, so as long as LRG don't completely mismanage their business or the economy doesn't severely tank, they will be around for many years to come. Cool with me. The more choice the better.

I agree about Nintendo and NISA properly packaging things. I've never had an issue with either company. I just received a big box of games from NISA Europe, and they are just as good as NIS America in terms of packaging. Thick outer box with loads of tape. Enough bubble wrap around the games to the point of almost being comical. IFFY and several other similar stores are also awesome at using proper packaging for collector's editions and the like. I've had a couple instances with LRG with damaged goods. Anyone who sells a collector's edition should understand the mentality of a collector, and package it extremely well.

Have you tried to use clear packing tape to remove it? As a last resort I would try goo gone, mainly because I hate the greasy feel it leaves behind.

Thanks a million for that tip. Against my better instincts I ordered 6 new games over the past week from GS because I thought they had been trying to send actual new games ordered online. Bad choice on my part. Got 1 actual sealed game and 5 games with that stupid clear sticker on the side with all manner of stickers on the front of the cases (One case totally crushed and splintered, and 2 games the disc in the case upside down lol). The clear packing tape method did great on the residue from those nasty side stickers. Takes a few minutes, but gets off all the residue. I'll just take the extra time it takes to price match with Best Buy from now on. Much better to receive sealed new games that I don't have to spend time working on to get residue off of after spending a lot of money. I'm a slow learner.

If you don't care if its the European version you can get a copy from https://store.nisaeurope.com for about $36, not counting shipping. They have a bunch of games that have gotten expensive if try to get them from ebay or Amazon. I've picked up some pricey games way cheaper from them.

Appreciate the suggestion about NISA Europe. I never thought to look there for games. Great prices on some of the games. Was able to get 5 PS4 games I had been wanting, but didn't want to pay the amount they are going for on eBay and all the usual gaming outlets. Shipping is the same no matter how many games you buy, so the 20 GBP for shipping 5 games averages out to not too much per game for shipping. Saved a boatload on the games themselves compared to how much I would have to pay doing the eBay or Amazon marketplace thing.

#14410729 Playstation 5 Re-stock Thread

Just put it toward a PS5.

This. Since the PS5 plays almost all PS4 games, is more powerful than a Pro, is more future proof obviously, has a better controller, and will surely end up having some PS5 games you are interested in down the line, it seems like spending an additional $150 for a PS5 over a refurb Pro makes more sense. I debated getting a Pro or a PS5 for a second room. I decided to just keep rolling with a PS4 Slim in that room until I can get a second PS5.

1. You gotta use paragraphs. No one is going to read that block of text.

2. The tweet is about how absurd it is that Amazon/eBay is getting a bigger cut than the kid selling the consoles.

1. Someone obviously read it.

2. He made multiple tweets that went beyond a single point.

He's made $110,000 for college, and counting. That's a lot of hustle for a high school kid. Regardless of the debate over the ethics of his scalping rare commodities, it's humorous that Josh is criticizing the kid. Yes, eBay and Amazon are making a lot of money from the kid's sales, but the kid has to sell the items somewhere. Doubt he could make 110 grand standing on street corners selling goods. Also doubt he could make 110 grand mowing lawns or working at a fast food restaurant. The kid's practices for making money to go to college are a lot less egregious than the rapid hikes in college tuition over the past couple decades. Love how Josh brags about how smart he was by going to flea markets and pawn shops to buy stuff that could be sold for higher margins, but at the same time criticizes the kid for spending so much time to make 110 grand. I guarantee you that kid spent less time doing what he has done over the past year in making all that money than it would take to scour flea markets and pawn shops to sell stuff adding up to $110k profit. Much harder to find jewels in the wild nowadays that will yield big profits than it was back when Josh was doing his flea market/pawn shop thing. Also, I wonder how fast it takes Josh to plow through 110 grand for his endless supply of figurines, collectibles, and games that he so frequently brags about purchasing on his social media account? He's always so quick to lecture and judge other people and companies. Someone needs to send him a case of butthurt cream.

There's a Limited Run Games 5th Anniversary Coin Set thing on ebay from the UK at $688.99usd (499.99 gbp/uk).  Looks like it's the first one to get listed.  I wonder how many of these things they even made... maybe 1000 since they gave out some B&C copies as payment for work.. and held some back which got trickled out over the years in blind boxes.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/304051702490

That's wild. It will be interesting to see if it sells. Got mine in the mail yesterday. I was surprised at the heaviness of the package. Found an unboxing video:

https://www.youtube....h?v=9pOavfMlM1M

Looks like a massive coin, a metal Vita cartridge, and 3 cards. Pretty neat that LRG sent these out. Kudos to them for doing something like this. Still salty about Night Trap and Game Tengoku, though. Interestingly one of the comments for the video: "Somehow I got one of these. My tastes are pretty selective so I've only bought 3 games from them, didn't even buy #1. But my account is from before #1 happened, so maybe that's all it takes. Weird and neat."

Wish they would release Super Meat Boy ASAP. Nicalis needs to step up and sell their remaining two Vita games as well. Someone said I was exaggerating a year or two ago when I suggested it may be 2022 before the final Vita games are released in the US. I might not be too far off.

'forever physical'

Josh is a piece of shit and probably lying out his ass cuz they missed the train lol

His 7 or 8 tweet "thoughts" on the matter are kind of funny. The best thing for him to do regarding rival companies is to keep his mouth shut. Says "digital piracy is essential to truly preserving games." Ok, Josh, whatever. BTW, till waiting on a non-broken version of Night Trap on the Vita, as well as the replacement disc for the incomplete Game Tengoku on PS4 that LRG promised people who paid money for their product and received an incomplete version. Josh is a conman, and from what I can tell he is overly defensive and somewhat dishonest.

Love how Josh says "egregious enough" that it will be replaced. What is considered not egregious enough on an overpriced collector's item? Hey, if you don't have enough to do replacements, then effin box them properly to begin with. It's not that hard to use better quality boxes to ship expensive products in. I ordered from Amazon JP and got an extra controller to boot, shipped, cheaper than ordering from LRG.
