#14114594 Humble Bundle Thread

Posted by pasports31 on 05 January 2019 - 04:45 PM

Tried to sell off Division but I'm fairly lazy.  Basically it's: do I want to do the front-work and try to unload the reveals for like $8 and pay $4 for a grab bag or do I just want to wait and see if the unlocks are even worth it and maybe buy them then for like $2.

honestly it just depends on how flexible your tastes in games are and if you're willing to deal with the cesspool

for me though it's typically worth it to buy regardless. this wasn't a great bundle for what i would want but i sold jc3/project cars/sundered/qube for a total of 12 dollars. i have the year subscription so i got paid a dollar to keep wizard of legend/observer/darkside detective

If anybody is looking for a way to liven up the original Dark Souls, a mod just released that restores cut content, changes bonfire locations, even apparently adds boss fights and enemies, etc.

I think there is a difference between a digital item and a physical item. At the very least, if I'm receiving a physical shipment, the truck delivering that item is driving on roads in my state, polluting air in my state in the process, et cetera. It is using resources, therefore, that belong collectively to the citizens, and it's reasonable to expect that the state should receive some recompense. A digital item that I buy does none of these things. What you're saying might be the thought process at a store, and I get that, but it still doesn't make sense.

sales taxes aren't meant to be a reimbursement on wear and tear on the environment and infrastructure though, and even if they were, then the reimbursement is way overpriced in most cases. you're putting too much thought into trying to rationalize why there's a difference between tangible and intangible goods in terms of viability for tax. sales tax, like the majority of taxes, is just meant to be a way to generate revenue, although there are alternative primary or secondary motives for some, and as such the government would be dumb to tax physical items but not bother to tax digital ones, particularly in an increasingly digitized environment.

This makes perfect sense when I'm ordering a book or a toaster or some other physical commodity from Amazon (which has charged state taxes for years in the case of Louisiana), but considerably less sense when I'm buying an MP3 from Amazon (for which Amazon also charges tax) or a digital game from Humble. There is no place that I'm going to go in the state to buy this intangible good in the first place, so there's no true loss of sales tax revenue in that sense. What's the rationale here, that I'd buy a CD with that music from a Barnes and Noble or hard copy of that game from GameStop if it weren't for that meddling internet?

I think the rationale is just as simple as "you bought it and you live in Louisiana so that's how we assign the sales tax," whether it's a digital good or a physical one you're buying a product and as such it's subjected to sales taxes, I don't see the issue in terms of the rationale of the tax

imagine thinking that society is completely wrong about fundamental math and deciding the best way to preach and correct the issue is to make burner accounts on cheapassgamer

So, is RAGE worth playing?  I'm pretty geeked about the new one but haven't played the original.

rage is a nice game, the gunplay is really fun but the game is lacking in most areas outside of that. nothing mindblowing but a fun enough way to blow through 15 hours or so. dlc is good too.

So. . . free is free, but, uh, yeah, way to really dig deep down in your wallets to pull out games from the original Humble Bundle, there, Epic guys.

stop being  ungrateful, this is a great deal for the 3 people who don't have smb

How's Far Cry 5, BTW?

Namely, compared to FC3 and FC4?

I loved FC3 and did like FC4.

Ain't got around to FC: Primal, it's in the backlog.

it is somewhat different than fc3 and 4 and almost identical to far cry primal, it's hard to explain if you've never played primal so it's a shame you have that backlogged

I might not buy anything from the sale as well, if I don't it'll be the first winter or summer sale I don't buy any games in basically since I created my account. I have 15 dollars steam wallet so maybe i'll splurge on something, most of the stuff on my wishlist with half decent discounts is bundle trash that if i was making my wishlist again i wouldn't put on it

GMG is having a squeenix sale. Something i didn't know is the Secret of Mana remake msrp is 40 dollars (lol). Chrono Trigger is half off, with the voucher applied (GMG12) it's 6.60. Deus Ex mankind divided digital deluxe edition is 5.34 with the voucher, which is a great deal, Just Cause 3 XL edition is the same price. This is probably also a decent time to buy final fantasy games as they never seem to get lower than 1/2 off, so with the voucher you can get them a bit cheaper

Travis Baldree (Rebel Galaxy: Outlaw) said a great feature of Epic's client is 'direct e-mail access to developers' or something to that effect.  Meanwhile there is no evidence that feature even exists... never mind not even a forum.

False, there is direct email access to developers so long as you have the developers personal email address. Dumbass

Bluesnews - Beyond Good & Evil 2 is an online-only game.

You can play it solo, but you'll have to be online at all times to do so.

But, the game's (supposedly) really built to be played online for its seamless navigation, Dynamic updates/Live updates, and to play with friends.

oh nice, this is exactly what people were looking for out of bge2, just like how an always online play w/friends game is totally what people wanted from fo76

Fallout 76 owners, you're going to get Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics for free next month:

https://www.pcgamer....ree-next-month/

nice, getting 20 year old crpgs is really going to make up for their dumpster fire of a game

Mass Effect games worked okay as third-person-over-the-shoulder adventure games.  The action/combat, however, was pretty mediocre.  And the level design (endless corridors) tedious.

Translating from Mooby language this means it's great
