#13546120 iZombie S1 Blu-Ray $11.21 @ Amazon...

Posted by spooie_redux on 28 November 2016 - 06:10 PM

For anyone that may be interested and hasn't seen it already, Amazon has iZombie season 1 on sale for $11.21, which is a pretty damned good price considering it's a Manufacture on Demand title that normally goes for around $35, give or take.

Went on sale late last night and instantly sold out. They are currently backordered, but you can still place an order for the time being.

#13538545 Not a Clone 50% off (1.99) for Black Friday...

Posted by spooie_redux on 24 November 2016 - 10:00 PM

I noticed this game over in the giveaway forum.

It's a pretty fun WarioWare clone.   Looks like it is on sale today and tomorrow, for those that like that type of time.

It is on iTunes and Google Play, although I notice their link for iTunes seems to be broken.  Anyone interested can check it out here...

#13518560 NES Classic on Amazon at 2pm PST 11/11

Posted by spooie_redux on 11 November 2016 - 10:13 PM

Amazon had 11 years to learn from their Thanksgiving Day $100 Xbox 360 debacle and still hasn't improved.

Just make it like a standard BF Lightning deal... first person adds to cart until it is filled, they have 15 minutes to buy it or it defaults the next in line.

But that would make too much sense.

#13317245 Brink $4.99/$3.99 GCU (Xbox 360)

Posted by spooie_redux on 05 May 2016 - 10:11 PM

I picked up Brink for $5 a few years ago at Five Below.  Wasn't that bad of a game, honestly.  I had heard the launch was pretty awful, but things were supposedly fixed later on with updates.  Unfortunately, no one was playing by then... so there would only be 2 or 3 other people on the team and the rest were bots.  It was fun though by that point. Far better than I expected, I will say.

Party is over.

PS2 games and accessories are no longer 75% off.  In fact, not only are they selling for normal price for the first time since, what, 2012 (?)... they actually rose the price on a number of the games.   Every game starts at $4.99 now, too.

I received a cancellation notice for my order from 9/10 for two wireless GameCube controllers and a GameCube controller extension cable today. Oddly enough I did receive one of the wireless GameCube controllers from this order and was not charged for it. This new shipping set up is a total mess

When you receive a cancelation notice, it simply means that one or more of the items from a specific location being sought were cancelled.  When the remainder of your entire order is cancelled, it should say "closed" on your Order History.

Damn what did you buy??

80 PS2 games, 14 DS games, 2 Wii games, 2 GBA games, 2 GCN games, 1 X360 game, 1 PS3 game, 3 PS2 controllers, 4 PS2 memory cards, 1 GBA/GCN cable and 1 Blu-Ray.

Granted, one of the PS2 games supposedly comes with four Think Fast controllers... but I'm thinking that's one of the "delayed" games that will at some point become a cancelled game order.

Received some my orders today. They were all from the same order but came 6 different envelopes and the return addresses were all different. The DS games were all cart only but my fantasy aquarium fir with was complete. Curious what other people have experienced

That's because individual stores ship them out now.  No more boxes of 20 games.   You'll likely get 20 games in 17 envelopes.   Been like that for PS2 stuff for the last three months at least.

Was about to get Mr. Mosquito for $2. While I was in the middle of checking out it "suddenly" became sold out . :wall: I was literally a seconds away from paying for it when it told me that items in my cart were no longer available. If I had only been 10 seconds faster it would've been mine.

Edit: It still shows in stock but you can't actually buy it.  :-P

The same thing happened to me 7 hours ago.   Gamestop is just trolling us all.

Whats all the buzz about with that game?

Was that an intentional pun?

It's a unique type of game... not all that many where you play a mosquito, flying around, trying to suck the blood out of humans.

#12913036 PS2 games are 75% off at Gamestop

Posted by spooie_redux on 11 September 2015 - 12:26 AM

For those that may be curious, Gamestop just added around 800+ games to their PS2 directory online.   They're at just over 1,000 as of this writing.

You won't find Rule or Rose or Haunting Ground, but for those of you with your PS2s still connected, who may have missed out before and don't mind if your discs are scratched beyond all recognition, there are some decent, cheap, common titles to be had that are much less expensive than their PSN downloadable counterparts.   Many, but not all, are registering at the 75% off sale price still.

Gamecube also added 162 games (not many great ones, sadly) up from zero and even a handful of GBA games made it.  Many of which are also 75% off.

Nothing on Xbox, unless you like Sneak King being played on an older generation system.

If anyone can get Mr. Mosquito to actually go through their cart, feel free to let me know.  I tried a few times and it keeps removing it, yet keeping the game listed as in-stock.

I think one thing folks don't get is relative supply. Back in the 90s game stores were fewer, many people rented instead of buying games, and mail order was your option to Amazon. There were millions of copies of Mario and Mortal Kombat in circulation but yeah Super Turrican 2 is rare because there were squat copies to begin with.

2002, I remember going on eBay and seeing someone unload 60 sealed Super Turrican 2 carts on eBay for 1¢ each, $2.99 shipping.   Not a single person was buying.   I put a bid in for 5¢.  Someone came in and big something like a quarter on the auction, completely sidestepping all the others.  I went in an hour later and bid a dollar as the max bid.  Ended up winning the auction for 83¢.   I also won a sealed copy of Troddlers from the same seller for a 1¢.    He was nice enough to combine the shipping.

Saw many of his Super Turrican 2 auctions go unsold for one cent.  About an hour later, someone used the Buy-it-Now feature on a sealed copy from another seller for $69.99.  I could not believe it.

For those curious, I uploaded some pics to CGR last year... http://classicgamero...per-turrican-2/

The Super Turrican 2 deal still blows my mind even more than finding Hagane at Gamestop for $5.99.

I wouldn't just say it's nostalgia.  There are many factors...

There really isn't too much innovation in gaming these days.  Every new system that comes out seems to be the shinier, higher-res version of the previous one.  The PS2/GCN/Xbox/DC era was a big jump from the 32bit days as far as what a system could do, but the PS3 and Xbox 360 weren't that much of a leap over their predecessors.  Over the last decade or so, some people just get tired of playing the same polygonal shooters and action titles all of the time.

There was once a time when you could barely even find a sprite game or 2D title on a console.  Yet now, one of the few things that newer consoles HAVE introduced, only help with the awareness of older games.  Thanks to indie games and the revival of classic titles via DLC and streaming services, there has been a rebirth for sprite-based and older styled games.   The internet is now also a wealth of knowledge about games that previously many were not aware of.  Youtube videos, Wikipedia, Social Media...whatever it may be, wasn't around.   Because of that, what was old is new again.  That leads to new generations of gamers that weren't around in those days, but now want to get into classic gaming and consoles, and allows people who otherwise weren't familiar at the time to learn about games that are new to them.

Of course, you can't just walk into any store and find them like you could in abundance a decade or so back.  Many copies were surely destroyed or simply tossed out over the years.   The harder to find, the more people are going to want them.  You'll always have collectors that want to own an actual cartridge as opposed to digital or streaming media, and people that want to "own" the actual game.  Plus, there are an abundance of clone systems out now that are far more accessible than there had been since the original systems went off the market.

You know, you guys could always just check the website to see if they have anything in-stock.   It's not going to be 100%, but it should still register most of the inventory for whatever stores are carrying them unless they received random loose disc shipments left over from the 2012 purge that was never inputted.
