#14145217 CAGcast #583: Reverse Sponsors

Posted by rlse9 on 20 March 2019 - 08:38 PM

I thought the podcast was FINE, mmmm hmmmm. :)

On a more serious note as a long time listener who really enjoys the podcast I have some feedback. I catch myself listening to the podcast for the beginning where you guys are talking about what happened in your lives this week, movies and series you watched, and general banter. This is the best part of the show, it's like catching up with old friends and just having a guys night out.

Unfortunately I feel the podcast tends to drag towards the end when the gaming discussion begins. I'm not sure why, but it feels you guys sometimes are just going through the motions. One segment that comes to mind is New Releases where there never seems to be any interesting discussion except when there is a big game release. One idea is to just cut this out and just talk about what you guys played this week. It doesn't matter what came out, I can go get that news and in-depth discussion else where.

The podcast at this point is really a personality driven entertainment show. I'm sure most listeners come to hear Cheapy, Shipwreck and Wombat and the awesome dynamic between you guys. It would be much better if you guys re-focused the show so that it centers around you guys and your passionate discussions and disagreements. Just talk about interesting topics, it can be gaming related or not.

One great example of a consistently great show is Rooster Teeth's podcast. That used to be a video game focused show but then morphed into a personality show where people tune-in to hear their conversations which can be about ANY topic.

Thanks for the great show. I listen every week and  it really makes my long NJ-NYC commute much better. Hopefully we can get another Manhattan or Brooklyn meet and greet soon?

I agree with basically everything that was written here.

Also, the Arby's loot crate discussion has been great.  If Wombat doesn't want to keep any of the stuff from the loot boxes once it's finished, you guys should have some sort of ridiculous contest to give it away what he doesn't want.  I'm sure there's someone out there who would want to win Wombat's scarf or dice or whatever...

I have a feeling that pretty much anything that hasn't seen a discount on Wii U from Nintendo by now isn't going to.  Like others, I've been waiting for a sale on Fatal Frame for ages but I can't see that happening either at this point.

If you don't know about either of the free pinball games, they're platforms with a bunch of tables to buy in-game and they should have one table that's free for everyone to play.

The Carnivals and Legends DLC for Pinball FX3 is free until December 19th and includes 2 tables.  I got it on PC since I don't own a Switch, but I'm assuming this is true for all platforms.  And yes, there's also one free table included in the game, so 3 free tables if you get it right now.

I took the pantry credit and used it a while later and since all I have been getting are the $1 digital credits.

The pantry credit can be a good deal if you can pair it with a free shipping deal as well, which they have pretty regularly.  Gotten some pretty cheap stuff that way a couple times.

#12806886 $200 Best Buy Gift Card for $15 Glitch!

Police just knocked on my door, but I escaped through the window. They're never gonna catch me and I'm gonna get these gift cards!!!!

First entertaining post in this thread since last night.  It was great to read the madness last night but today it's just false hope of receiving order confirmations followed by the disappointment of the order being cancelled, mixed with the false hope of people thinking they'll be the one who doesn't get their orders cancelled.

I finally picked up Mario Kart for my gold reward a couple days ago.  I can't believe the website is still so bad, there can't be that many people logging into the site to redeem rewards at this point and there's not anyone registering games and doing surveys so I can't believe their site is still struggling to handle the traffic.  Nintendo just can't seem to make much related to the internet work properly...

When it does it to me, I click the hide button. Same effect and it keeps me from editing.

Didn't know that, thanks for sharing.  I'll have to remember that next time I foolishly click on that Post button multiple times...

#12366275 Club Nintendo Deals ~ New Games Up (11/17-12/14)

Posted by rlse9 on 28 December 2014 - 11:43 PM

I purchased Resident Evil: Revelations from the eShop since it's on sale right now and to get one more $5 DDP reward.  Was surprised to see when I visited the Club Nintendo site today that there was a survey for 50 coins for downloading the game.

Also downloaded Lucadian Chronicles a few days back since it's free (DLC unlocks the full game).  The post-download survey doesn't give any coins but the post-play survey gives 10 coins.  And the game is actually pretty fun, it's a card game where you don't control the actual battles, just set up your fighters before the battle and it auto-plays.  Definitely not for everyone but I've found it entertaining for the couple hours I've put into it.

#12285256 Amazon's Holiday Deals Calendar: Cyber Monday Deals Week

Posted by rlse9 on 30 November 2014 - 12:17 AM

I agree that Amazon's deals were disappointing this year, not just with gaming but in general.  I bought one single item there (digital picture frame) and that was it.  The lightning deals were filled with too much jewelry and too much of the same stuff, virtually no laptop or TV deals, and too many deals that have been offered before.

The problem with Amazon price matching is that it's not a price match when you factor in things like ebates, reward programs (Kmart, Best Buy), cards that give you a percentage off (Target).  And the majority of their deals were on Thursday/Friday when other stores' deals went live late Wednesday night.

I still generally like Amazon but it's not a given that they're the cheapest place to buy most things like it used to be.

Posted by rlse9 on 06 October 2014 - 02:29 PM

Honestly, I don't know why ME3 was released on WiiU at all.  IMO the game isn't really even worth experiencing if you are starting with 3.  You wouldn't start Watchmen at issue 10, or Star Wars at episode 6..... it's the same thing here.

I disagree, I found playing ME3 a completely enjoyable experience without playing either of the first two games.  The difference is between a movie trilogy and game trilogy is that watching the first two movies is a 4 hour time commitment to get caught up, for the first time games it could be 100 hours.  Not all of us have the time to dedicate to playing video games like that...
