#14310138 Anime & Manga Steals and Deals (Rightstuf, Amazon, DD...etc)

Posted by thelonepig on 30 July 2020 - 01:02 PM

4, 8, 9, 12 -- love Gundam wing, Princess Tutu, Ghibli. 4 year old loves Aria, but the oldest doesn't like it and the others are meh. We often watch without the 4 year old, so it doesn't have to be dictated by her age. I got Yumeiro Patissiere for the 4 year old before I realized it wasn't dubbed, but the 8 and 9 year old liked it still. Wanted to start at the beginning with Gundam, but they couldn't get into the the original Gundam series 3 movie set. My wife is very against any fanservice which makes it very hard to find comedy anime. (We just watched Be cool scooby-do and they loved that.)

Mine are 4, 8, 12, 14. We watch most shows subtitled; the 4-year-old is fine and still follows along.

They all enjoy:

  • Mirai
  • The Boy and the Beast
  • Promare (8-year-old watches this weekly)
  • Bobobo-Bo-Bobobo
  • Lamune & 40 Fire
  • A Silent Voice
  • The Big O
  • Your Name
  • Mary and the Witch's Flower
  • Napping Princess
  • K-On
  • Chihayafuru
  • Pokemon
  • Lu Over the Wall
  • Okko's Inn
  • Summer Wars
  • Chi's Sweet Home
  • Chi's New Address
  • Skip Beat
  • Penguin Highway
  • Modest Heroes
  • Liz and the Blue Bird
  • Sound Euphonium the Movie
  • Patema Inverted

I allow the older two to watch some more mature shows. They enjoy:

  • Fullmetal Alchemist
  • My Hero Academia
  • Fruits Basket
  • The Promised Neverland
  • Trigun
  • Witch Hunter Robin
  • Terror in Resonance
  • Princess Principal
  • Steins;Gate
  • Kino's Journey
  • Fractale

If you have Crunchyroll, consider for all the kids:

  • Sweetness and Lightning
  • How to Keep a Mummy

The older kids commented last night how much they're enjoying God of High School.

In the not-anime-but-animated category:

  • Song of the Sea
  • Long Way North
  • Book of Kells
  • Ernest & Celestine

From this sale, I have on order, but have not seen:

  • Squid Girl, Kids on the Slope, Gourmet Girl Graffiti, and The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales.

I attempted to order 3 games and cancelled two and kept RE3. It seems my order still shows tax from the previous total with all 3 games included. Will the tax adjust for the new total of one game?

Yes, tax will update when shipped.

Yeah, the animation and artwork both look really good, and some of the puzzle elements and traversal in the reviews seemed intriguing too. Definitely biting on it one way or the other, probably by the end of the weekend. I’m going to try one more time to see if I can get a cashier at Best Buy to price match the physical to the $9.99 GameStop price (admittedly, a long shot), and if not, I’ll cut my losses and score it digitally with the Dollar General deal stack.

How hard was it to get the platinum?

I picked it up in 19 hours. I was short one treasure that I needed to consult a walkthrough to obtain. There is an item in the game that can be used to identify unopened treasures.

#14232878 Official Collector's Edition Compilation X - 2019

How do you just buy the SB? I ordered the game for in store pick up and the SB is getting shipped to me separately. I was going to sell teh game but if I can just buy the SB for $20, would rather do that.

If you return the game you should receive a full refund, then a separate charge for the steelbook.

Alternatively, just don't pick up the game in store. It will accomplish the same thing.

Ah, I see. How is the show? Is it worth it at that price? I got the first season back during Sentai’s last super sale for like $7, but haven’t gotten around to watching it yet.

K-on is fabulous if you enjoy quirky, musical, slow-paced slice-of-life shows.

Question for people who frequently shop at RightStuf: Whenever they have daily Mega Deals (like they're currently doing for their 32-Bit Birthday Sale), do they usually bring back every Mega Deal on the last day/week of the sale? I'm interested in both offerings today (Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond + Sword of the Stranger), but I'd rather wait to see if some other Mega Deal catches my eye instead of searching for $25+ of other stuff to get over the $50 free shipping threshold.

I recall they did at last year's anniversary sale, provided the items are in-stock.

So I just opened my PS4 Pro and am finally joining the PS4 owners ranks. I waited til today because I was up against my lovely Comcast monthly data cap and I figured there would be updates, etc. Going thru the box and I found a 20% off coupon for the PSN store! And it expired yesterday...Any chance it still works? I'd test it now, but I won't get to fire it up until I get back from work.

If you contact Sony customer support they'll give you a replacement code.

I was able to beat P5 without affecting my family (2 kids below 5 years old and a wife) by playing 4-5 hours a week. Took me about 6 months, but I did it and enjoyed it immensely.

I don't think new game + is in the cards for me; but it inspired me to play P4, and I'll probably play P3 after. I am having a hard time deciding it mobility (Vita) or better game play (PS3) is best for P3. P4 being on Vita has helped get through it more quickly.

P3P makes several quality of life adjustments that are worth the missing animations, particularly for someone with limited gaming time.
