#14505589 Playstation Deals, PS Plus games, and Discussion

Posted by tearsintherain on 18 November 2022 - 04:23 PM

Not the biggest TLoU fan, but Part II being $10 digital seems like a good deal. Is that one worth picking up during the sale? Any other recommendations?

If you are a PS4 owner then yes $10 is a good  deal.

If you own a PS5 I'd wait.  Its 100% gonna have a remaster of TLOU2 next year, some sort of directors cut or whatever, there is no native PS5 version of the game right now.  Given the history so far they will also charge $50-70 for the "remaster" and there will be no upgrade options either, who knows if there will even be a save transfer option.  They are also adding a massive multiplayer mode to the game.

Octopath traveler for 28.99 but I don't know if I should get it some people have said it's boring af

its on gamepass if you have an xbox, i played for a while and found it pretty repetitive and boring.  I did really enjoy Dragon Quest XI and stuff like Persona or Yakuza and even the first Bravely Default but Octopath was fun for 10-15 hours and then just became a slog.

#14429787 Nintendo Switch OLED Re-stock Thread

Posted by tearsintherain on 18 October 2021 - 02:50 PM

As nice as the screen upgrade is, I can not justify buying the OLED. I play 95% in docked mode on my 65" tv. I really want a more powerful Switch to release. C'mon Nintendo!

i justified upgrading this way

1. it "only" cost me $89+tax to trade in my 2 year old switch and get a new white oled switch, and it was $89 in trade credit which I easily made by earlier trading in extra games, contrrollers, and extra ps4 pro during the 50% trade.  what else am i gonna buy, new games mostly suck lol

2. a switch 2 is at LEAST one year out.  The rumors of a new switch started circulating last year, got more firm by mid year, and it was announced in July and started selling in October (so 3 month wait).  Current rumors say a new switch model is likely going to target holiday 2022, even thats probably being optimistic so realistically 2023.

Thats at least 1 year, for $100 its a no brainer to upgrade to the latest and have a new warranty, and the OLED will be more worth more in trade value when a new switch model is out.  At this point there is pretty much a zero percent chance a new switch model comes out for at least 9 months.

yeah did a chat online to get my points for far cry 6 as well, chat rep gave me the option of 10k points or $10 cert, I took the points.

I'm not doing anymore gamecoin games unless I really want it, its just too much of a hassle and nowadays games drop so fast.  I'm trading in my Far Cry 6, its currently worth $35 base or $45 after bonuses, it'll definitely be cheaper on black friday.  Got about a third through the game and enjoyed it, but I'd rather have $45 back and rebuy when its $20-30.

Would the $50 console bonus add to the already bumped Switch trade in of $220 for $270? Or is that wishful thinking...

ps4/xbox only, not switch

#14397047 25% off 1 PSN purchase up to $7.50 off with Cash App

Posted by tearsintherain on 15 May 2021 - 10:06 PM

Anyone know if refilling your wallet counts for the credit? Or do you have to buy a game?

I added $25 wallet and it worked perfectly, paid using my cash app credit card number.  It showed up immediately in cash app as a $18.75 pending charge (25% discount from $25).  Unfortunately PSN has denominations of like $10, 25, 50 and to maximize this offer you'd want $30 ($7.50 discount).

I haven't tried xbox yet, since topping up your wallet comes from microsoftstore and I'm not sure if that'd count the same, plus with gamepass I don't really buy that much on xbox

Gamestop.com also has velocity limits so it'll start blocking orders if you do more than a few digital orders.  Just buy 1 item per order and don't make too many orders - like 2 or 3 max per 24 hours, lol - and it should be fine.  Either way buying in store is always better, for a company that wants desperately to be a digital gaming big boi the website is absolute shit still, and if anything goes wrong you are really screwed.

I still have orders from 5 months ago for $1 games that haven't shipped yet, i don't care enough to call in about $4 in "lost" TC and am bemusedly waiting to see if they will ever cancel the order themselves.  I only added the games to get free shipping so don't really care anyways.

Ugh. Ordered some ps2 games yesterday morning, and it's still saying preparing for shipment. Do I need to call them? Really don't want to deal with CS.

It takes anywhere from 24 hours to 4 days for gamestop to process orders, and then another 2-6 days for you to get it.  Basically anything you order from gamestop won't get to you for at LEAST 3 days (best case) and usually 1 week to 10 days.  They are not amazon lol

Sorry this has been asked before but do you get the extra $5 per title you trade in or once?

So if I trade 3 titles, $15 extra? Towards a pre order

all 3 will get a $5 bump, as long as the trade in value is $2 or more.  You can create a new pre order or apply it to an existing pre order.  It has to be a game or collectible that you pre order, systems themselves (like the new animal crossing switch) doesn't trigger the $5 bump.

The employee is also double wrong because Gamestops "7 day used, 30 day new" regular policy is trumped by the Holiday return policy, which is in effect Nov 1st - Dec 24th:

https://www.gamestop...als/holiday-hub

Any product purchased between November 1 and December 24, 2019 may be returned with receipt by January 15, 2020. Product must be in resale condition. Package for new product must be unopened.

Its not a shock though that employees have no idea what their stores policies are, most are hired with little to no training.  Also many are very incentivized to lie to customers since they can get a bonus based on how well sales and trades do at the store, and returns affect that.  Just another reason why it'll be sad to see gamestop die in the next year or two, but not really a surprise.

Guess Astral Chain isn’t getting any sort of discount ... was hoping GS might come through at $39.99. Anyone think it’s worth using a Nintendo certificate on it?

not really imo since its a 18 hour or so game with limited replay so not really worth owning digital.  You should be able to pick it up pretty cheap preowned at gamestop, especially if you have any around you during the black friday B2G1F sale.  I have a lot of used copies around me.

My buy list this year is pretty small

$299 - Death Stranding PS4 Pro at gamestop

$10 - yooka laylee 2 new at gamestop

$24 - indivisible switch (pre order) at best buy

$20 - collection of mana switch at best buy

$15 - Killer Queen black switch new at gamestop

$20 - concrete genie digital PSN

$20 - medievil digital PSN

gonna be on the lookout for Astral Chain, Code Vein, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, an Elite v2 controller, and witcher 3 switch but all will be cheaper in the future so not too bothered if they don't drop further.

Holy shit $99 for a used OG Xbox One is a great deal. Gonna get that

uh... not really?  For $50 more you can get a discless S thats brand new and a few games and fortnite v-bux you can easily sell for $30-60, or for $100 more you get an S with a 4k player and a digital edition of Jedi Fallen order deluxe which you can prob sell for $40-60.   Either way a new system for only a few bucks more than a system that is AT LEAST 3 years old and who knows how poorly the previous owner(s) treated it.

I picked up my COD that I preordered, but didn't get the "Guaranteed to Love it" code. The manager said she'd take care of it when I bring it back, but did anyone else experience this? Is it possible that it's only 1 time per account? I picked up Link's Awakening and traded it back in for the full $59.99 at launch.

the pre ring i paid for around 4pm local time didn't have the code, i went in with my brother around 7pm local time and he bought a new copy (no pre order) and it printed the code on his receipt, same account.  So I think it was just a time thing.

I asked the store person and they said a lot of copies were sold without the code, since the gamestop version of the game is exclusive to gamestop its easy for them to know if you bought it there or not so shouldn't be a problem trading it back in this weekend, it has that little red Endowment tag on the front.  He said just bring your receipt and the game anytime this weekend if you want to trade it back in (you will only get store credit, NOT a refund, if its opened) and they know the code to use.

If I understand correctly, I can trade my Xbox One S 500GB to GameStop for $200 toward a new Switch. Seems like a good deal to me. Am I wrong?

Update: I also purchased $60 of GameStop credit from Facebook Deals (via PayPal) for $50 - https://facebook.com...41832675939499/

I would wait until at least tuesday afternoon, after Nintendo's E3 conference, just in case they announce any new switch models.
