#14028589 Microsoft Company Store F&F invites w/ $5 off first purchase

Posted by surak on 20 July 2018 - 04:35 PM

If I did my thread search properly, only 4 CAGers "qualified" under my 3 eligibility reqs. I've PMed them, as well as 5 other posters who haven't been in the F&F program yet.

Finally, I can't PM ~starlight~, not sure if it's a setting of yours, your inbox is full, or if CAG can't handle tildes in your handle, but PM me an email address and last name that can be used for billing: site does not allow changing the last name once registered, and billing info is required as part of the registration.

I've never been able to get this but def interested! Thx 4 the opportunity =)

OK folks, the new fiscal year has started and the F&F program seems to be the same.

This year I'll give a chance to those who couldn't get in on the program the last 2 years, so I'll look for the first 10 people who:

  1. didn't get into the F&F program
  2. have a post in this thread before my reminder post #126 for this year's F&F and post again within the next 2 weeks after this post indicating interest
  3. have at least one post to CAG in between their first request to get in and this post

If you don't have a post before #126, you can still reply stating your interest, in case there are still spots open.

There aren't any great deals right now in the store, usually BF is when things get good. Not sure when the Game Pass is going to be available, but it will be eventually.

Heads up those currently with F&F access - the employee discounts are changing tomorrow and games, Live, and Game Pass will be getting 50% discounts off MSRP. That means Live will go up in price, though Game Pass will be newly available.

Note that your access expires at the end of the month (Microsoft's fiscal year), after which point I'll be inviting new CAGers. I'm going to hold off on picking members until I see if they make any changes to the F&F program.

Yeah it was all physical goods, which aren't available for f&f.

Do you know if we can expect a Black Friday sale, and when it'd go live?

The store is doing weekly doorbusters sales this month. This coming week XBL 1yr will be $20, price should be up starting tomorrow and run til Saturday. Some digital game(s) like Forza will also be on sale, but I don't know if the prices on those are good.

There will be an additional 12% off everything in the store from 9/24-9/30.

PMed 10 posters to get their info for registering to F&F. If you haven't seen a PM from me then unfortunately you weren't selected this time. There were a bunch of worthy posters but only 10 slots. If I don't hear back in a week from any of them I'll work down the list of runners-up. I'll update the thread when all the spots are taken.

I really don't wanna nitpick or sound rude, but I must ask: why did I never receive an invite after being the first one to respond?

It's not that big of a deal, so you can just add me to the bottom of the list if there was some kind of problem or something

Nothing personal, I looked at your posting history and it was 99% requests for free stuff. I picked members who were contributing more to the site.

Reviving the thread because the F&F accounts will reset at the end of the month and I'll be able to fill in the spots with new folks then. There will be 10 spots and I'll be preferring CAGs who have useful post history, as in a track record for posting stuff helpful to the community.

There are a few folks who haven't bought anything, but I don't know who, so take this as a general reminder to buy something by the end of the month!

UPDATE 7/20/2018: I've selected posters for this year's Friends & Family program and am waiting to them to get back to me with contact info to get registered in the system.

Original post:
I'm giving away Friends & Family invites to the Microsoft Company Store, which allows you to buy up to $250 in downloadable software (including XBL) at employee prices. You'll also get $5 off your first purchase. The account is good until June 2017.

Post here if interested. The software you buy is not for resale or trade and I also am not allowed to give it to anyone who works for a governmental agency (incl public school teachers, PD or FD, sorry), so I'll be preferring posters with some legit history on CAG who aren't obvious flippers. I will PM you for your name and email address. UPDATE: A CAGer (kcobra22) found out that you need to send me a last name that matches your billing info b/c you need to set up billing when you register an account on the store and they don't let you edit that field.

Attached is a screenshot showing a sample of what's available in the store under Xbox. You can buy Windows or Office software, but I figure most CAGs would want games.

#13539561 Mario Themed Limited Edition New 3DS thread

Posted by surak on 25 November 2016 - 05:47 AM

My wife wanted one but since I wasn't paying attention, didn't realize they were up for sale last night and hard to get. We got one at the second Target we went to tonight. Didn't check Brickseek on the first location so came up empty; second Target said there were 11 white when we decided to go and 4 when we got there. The guy at the register was like, "just one?"

#13397331 PS Vita Deals & Discussions Thread

Posted by surak on 10 July 2016 - 07:31 PM

Just got Amazon confirmation that my time dilemma CE for the PlayStation Vita will be DELIVERED on July 13th.

*Checks email*

Woo, mine's arriving July 12th. About damn time. Preordered July 9th 2015 -- that's by far the longest wait time on a preorder (though back in the day, I kept a :ps3: Last Guardian preorder on Amazon until I finally mercy killed it). Told wife to hurry up and finish Danganronpa 2 on my Vita. Heheh.

Thanks for the input, man.  I ended up buying Yggdra Union based on your suggestion. :)

Cool, hope you like it. Also, one thing I didn't realize until near the end of the game, but if you lose a battle you can retry for free, and the enemies actually get easier when you retry(!), so even though it can be challenging it's actually straightforward to complete.

I couldn't get past the tutorial for Knights in the Nightmare... Got it along with Yggdra when one of them was free with the other, but had no idea what the heck was going on. Since they seem to change the gameplay between every game, liking one apparently isn't predictive of liking the others.

Anyone have any recommendations as far as the lesser-known PSP RPGs go?  Thinking about picking one of the $5 ones up.  Yggdra Union, Ragnarok Tactics, Riviera: The Promised Land.. these all look pretty interesting at a glance.

Yggdra Union is a must if you like SRPGs. It has an interesting card-based mechanic and team-up ("unions") and a nice story. Riviera is just an OK RPG with a simplistic battle system and a story that's as run-of-the-mill as you can get, but I found it enjoyable other than the annoying preponderance of QTEs.
