#14028223 Official Skylanders Thread

Man I got a bunch my kids don’t play with didn’t know there was a niche for them

Only a few rare ones. Most others don't even worth in the dollar bin.

I bought some spare Superchargers vehicles from TRU at $0.59 for my kid, cheaper and look better than buying hot wheels.

It's odd to me that you're calling people fools for spending money on an experience they want and can afford. It's like people saying paying for games is foolish because they don't like games. It's a mute argument that amounts to "I don't understand so it's dumb".

There are still movies that give you better experience in theater like 3D IMAX, of course one can say you can make have a home theater but I've yet to see anyone has one at home that's anything comparable and the money spent can watch many movies in theater. I have a 3D TV and a very good sound system, but definitely can't compare.

Also, on a day of 105F+ outside, rather than running AC at home, grab a ticket and watch 2 or 3 movies in theater probably save enough electrical bill to cover the ticket.

#14005149 BestBuy Enforcing Removal of GCU If You Go Past 3 Game Limit

Posted by mcdull on 05 June 2018 - 08:09 AM

I simply posted I dont believe in item limits. If a person or persons paid for a GCU membership they are going to buy games or x items from BB they are not going to pay more from a ebay/online reseller. BB will sell more copies to a reseller this equals more revenue and maybe profit because nobody on this site actually knows what BB is paying per copy. I believe that everybody who pays for a GCU membership will buy games from BB and not a reseller. I believe also that BB has enough copies of any game to sell to resellers and ALL GCU membership members that want that game maybe a slight exception for collectors editions.

Seriously that's what you believe?

The limit is NOT related to how much BB paid for the product.  They have that quantity in stock for sale and they want to sell all of them anyway. To them, regular customers or resellers will not affect their profit.  However,  having a limit in fact is fair policy for other customers.

Think about during BF, the first person in line bought out all the TV on sale and people waited for hours outside got nothing.

I've seen people reported that when Lego Dimensions pack was $1 at 99c store, someone scooped up all of them in a particular store (that's over a hundred).  Some 99c store put up a sign of limit 9 to prevent that problem, they know they're going to sell all of them anyway.

I did buy 3 copies (never over 3) of the toy to life figures and resold 2 of them on ebay to make mine free.

And I believe many CAG here bought multiple copies of games and flipped them at GS and Amazon.

Amazon has 20% off pre-orders for PRIME members.  Ill gladly take my business there.  Just surprised they stole credit card points from a long time customer.  Bye Bye BB Citi VISA.  I vote with my moolah!

20% off pre-orders... I wait 2 months and will get the same price on sale.

GCU has 20% off on ANY games, even clearance and 10% off pre-owned. That's a huge difference.

The stores who were on the original list of closing stores are nearing the end currently. The stores that were able to stay open a little while will be open tword the end of june.

People should also mention the stores they went to are in original closing list or not, or will give a false hope to others before they go to a non-original-closing stores.

The 2 stores nearby not on the original list are still doing 10% off only, even the sign said up to 30%.

The other 2 stores on original list basically are almost wiped clean, fewer than 10 racks of stuffs left. Over a month ago, things were already 50% off. They started the discount by closing store not by liquidation, so they gave big discount once they prepared to close the store rather than those need to follow the liquidation process.

#13975645 PS4 Pro - Star Wars Battlefront Edition - $348 Amazon Treasure Truck

Posted by mcdull on 03 April 2018 - 09:02 AM

Careful of this bundle.  The PS4s that were produced for it are known to have issues.  I bought this set and had the PS4 brick within 2 weeks of casual use.  This would be one of the reasons they are being sold at a discounted rate.  Other than the game sucking that is.

The game is one of the best multiplayer shooters and have great improvement on single player campaigns over the previous version.

Most hates are in the micro transaction loot box controversy and the grinding required to unlock characters if not paying. (This is very common in mobile games and after years of playing Warriors games, grinding to unlock something has already become a norm to me)

In one of the last few LEGO dimensions levels and the color puzzle seems glitched. Color pad stays purple and won’t change and won’t set off puzzle. Anyone else have this problem before or have any advice?

Yes, many color puzzles has the color messed up, I noticed that when I played the last few levels of Main Story after stopping for almost 2 years. I'm certain I did not see that issue before, not in the early levels of the Main Story and all Year 1 Level Packs that I've finished long time ago.  So, I guess it was introduced later in updates.

Usually, it's one color messed up.

E.g. if the puzzle on the screen shows Red, it could be Orange, if the screen shows Blue, it could be Purple. So, just do trial and errors. Or just check YouTube video to find the correct colors that people had finished the levels long time ago before the bug was introduced.

Your selection should be more limited than that, a few characters have unique abilities you need to fully collect items in the worlds.  There is a spreadsheet out there with a minimum set and which ones to accomplish all content.  However, one thing to consider is that Supergirl has a unique ability that only she has (red lantern ability)

I don't think there is an new updated list with the final few waves characters, and they include a lot of unique abilities in only certain characters before. Also he's already said he's not interested in 100%, just need to access all level and hubs.

Supergirl is NOT needed, the game doesn't require red lantern. Powerpuff Girl and Raven can do the Lantern Construct, you will need the girls to access their hub and Raven has an unique ability.

So just to be clear, you really only need a single character from each theme to unlock their hub world, which often has more to do than the actual level packs themselves, correct?

Is there any sort of matrix or check list that shows which figures unlock different worlds? Are any of the Story Packs must haves? It seems like you can unlock their hub worlds with the single figure packs, making them unnecessary unless they have a great story mode?

It depends on your definition of "more to do". The hub world is filled with repetitive independent missions like collecting stuffs, cheesy request, racing car, plane, boat... You get a lot of those things to do which requires going around and around. The only reasons to be doing those is to get 100% and get gold bricks to upgrade gadgets.

Level pack has a little story and more cohesive experience and puzzles. Story pack is like a long level pack of a few more levels.  They don't worth the regular price (you'd better buy other used Lego games which have many more levels) but when it's discounted and just a few more dollars than fun pack, I will go for level and story pack.

Team pack can be skipped unless that's the only way to unlock that franchise.

Here is a link to all Lego Dimensions pack (except Supergirls and Green Arrow) and "must buy" suggestion, but if you don't care about level and story, that's not "must buy" then. It also has a unique abilities list, however, some unique "combo" abilities are just theoretical and not used in the game.

The N64/PSX era is hard to look at. The resolution and polygon count was low, jagged graphics, and prerendered backgrounds. I wasn't a fan of them even when they were brand new, preferring the colorful 2D graphics of the SNES. But now we're at the fourth generation of 3D and things look beautiful.  Same with 2D. I find Atari 2600 and Colecovision games pretty unplayable, but several generations later, the 2D graphics of the SNES still stand up today.  I feel like in 20 years, PS4 graphics will still hold up (and so will SNES graphics.)  Besides, I have a backlog going all the way back to PSX, so yeah, I'll still be playing them 20 years from now. :)

The resolution display accounts more for the poor perceived graphics quality rather than polygon count (which depends on the game, much worse if polygons are used for human body, but fine if for simple objects).

If you've ever tried PC emulators for N64 and PSX, it's a  huge step better than on its native console low resolution. PSX doesn't have 2D API, everything is using 3D for 2D looking games. It will scale well, except still using low resolution texture, on higher resolution.

Dreamcast using its VGA output (640x480) is even more stunning than its composite TV output, which gives fantastic 3D/2D shooter Ikaruga a better justice.

I can't hardly agree NES's 2D graphics look good, it will always be using its low native resolution because the graphics is not scalable.

I don't get why they don't just unload them for cheap on LEGO's own website. They must have sold these for less than a $1 to 99cents store. They easily could have sold them for $2 on their own site and cleaned them out. Powerpuff Girls is still selling for $24.99 at every other site out there.

It's not even in stock on their own site.

Probably WB is doing the distribution, not Lego.

However, I would wonder why TRU rather got a crapload of Skylanders to sell them at 50c but not the Lego Dimensions which would have done better justice for both.

No, that’s teleportation. I meant the normal, smooth movement. I think that’s the only option Farpoint has?

Oh okay I didn't realize that locomotion just meant moving from point A to point B in VR lol.  I thought it was a type of moving.

Farpoint doesn't have teleportation, only have smooth moving forward and backward while using the head to control direction.  However, smooth forward/backward is usually less a problem than smooth rotation not using the head

In Farpoint, you use your head to change direction, but you can also enable the option (default is disabled) to use the thumbstick, either smooth, instant small degree or big degree. I tried small degree and big degree, while it didn't cause any nausea, it's very odd to me as we don't see thing like that. So, I use smooth, but avoid doing that more than 1/2 second a time and too often, or will starting feeling not right.

#13932901 Gamestop "New" Thread

Posted by mcdull on 24 January 2018 - 10:25 PM

And I don’t think GameStop sucks. I don’t really see the need for a factory sealed copy most of the time. If the game looks perfect and the codes work i see nothing wrong. Granted I never got a opened new game when I ordered online. Pre owned from online is just a mixed bag of who knows.

I did get a "new" opened PC game ordered online once in a worn case, but it's $1 clearance game so not to bother much. It all depends if it's shipped from warehouse or stores.

I can understand they need to gut out the disc to have empty box to put on display shelves, but new should be new and how do I know the employee have not borrowed and played if the disc is not in sealed box? They can simply sell that at an used price later just like other retailers will sell floor model at floor model price.

Will a Black Slim PCH-2001 Vita have firmware 3.60 or lower? I found one with the "online only" tag on it at an out-of-the-way podunk store for $129.

I'd bite if I knew it was HENkaku compatible

Edit: Ha, they also have a Yoshi's WW + Poochy bundle "as-is" for $49.99. Box has been destroyed by the security grapple-thingy.

Unless it's an open box (returned with upgraded fw). US Vita was discontinued well before 3.60, and PSTV was discontinued before 3.50.

#13903434 12/10-12/24: PSVR GT Bundle $200 Skyrim Bundle $350 Doom Bundle...

Posted by mcdull on 10 December 2017 - 06:21 PM

I ended up having Best Buy PM Amazon for the GT bundle.  No idea why they still have it only 50 off.  I was hoping the price would be corrected by this morning. I get to pick it up on the way home tho  :D/

This week they have console + vr bundled discount, might be they think $50 on GT bundle is enough, or they want to sell other bundles

So for overall usage (games, movies, hell even porn) it's better to get the V2 for a difference of $100?

My opinion is not with $100 difference, especially if you don't have HDR TV and content to watch. The lens and visual hardware are the same.
