I think the guy looking for a PC saud he didn't have microcenter near, but this is another deal that popped up:

https://slickdeals.n...ntpage_recombee

$700 and you have to provide your own CPU, RAM, and drive.

I figured it was probably more expensive getting the pre-built.
I'm just uninformed at this point and need to do research.

It was this guy. and you pick whatever addons.

I'll chime in to say a few more things:

1. Prices continue to go down, so if you can wait another month or two you might be able to snag a prebuilt desktop with more memory at the same price.

2. Not sure if you are looking at laptops, but right now I've seen several laptops with a 5800H CPU and 3060 GPU for under $1000. According to this review, that combo performs pretty well:

So, that might be something to consider where you'd get something more powerful than a steam deck but with some portability.

I'm echo what the squatch said. It'll depend and sometimes it is noticable sometimes not. I have a giant case and run 2 NVMEs (1 PCI 4 (Samsung 980), 1 PCI 3 (Gigabyte)), I also have a Samsung 970 Evo SSD, Toshiba 5TB HDD, and a bunch of Hitachi refurb 7200s. The jump between the HDD, SSD, and NVME was noticeable each time on KF2, but that game takes forever for initial load. On other stuff, the differences are incremental. I think once you're in SSD territory, the jump to NVME is not as huge.

Still waiting on my steam deck email. I'm so back and forth on getting it vs saving that money for a decent 1080 60fps capable desktop cause I alread have a nice 2k monitor I use for work..(no idea on cost for that pc as I'm a console gamer) My mind changes each week though.

About $1000 will get you a 1080p prebuilt. You would just need to add more RAM.

I don't think you'll be able to build your own for much less. 3060TIs will be around $500 the future so that would leave $500 for everything else. Prebuilt also comes with a warranty.

The flow of time itself is convoluted; with heroes centuries old phasing in and out.

How do you do fellow kids? The PC Gamer forums are currently down, I think the Russian bots are to blame. So, I'm forced to stop by and see what's going on in the land of the dead horses being beaten. How about that Ukraine bundle, huh? Can't say war is all bad, now can we? And them boomer shooters? Classic stuff there. I tried Hrdot and it's pretty bleak but fun. Dread Templar gave me motion sickness. That's when you know you're a boomer. I'm going to steal Syntax's news and tell you guys that GPUs are in stock everywhere now. Go go go! Jump on then now before we stop importing them from Russia and they triple in price.

Wow. The mods finally caught up to Blade. Guys like him were part of the reason I moved over to the PCGamer forums. Talk about obsessive. Dude would still bring up stuff that happened a decade ago. Glad the mods dealt with him since the whole harassing a new member for posting a deal was not a good look. Maybe this place still has hope.

If you don't mind me asking - what are the specs on your Alienware rig?

Initially it was:

5600x
6800XT
8GB RAM
1 TB HDD
1000W PSU

Upgraded that to:

5600x
6800XT
32GB RAM
1 TB Gen 3 NVME
1 TB SSD
5TB HDD
1000W PSU

Just recently moved it all to a new case and have:

5600x
6800XT
32GB RAM
1TB Gen 4 NVME
1TB Gen 3 NVME
1TB SSD
10TB Total of HDD
850W PSU

The cooling was terrible in Alienware case. Dropped temps by 20-30 degrees with the case swap.

To think, if the sheeple hadn't been so eager to suck on big GPU's greedy teat, I would have been happy just upgrading my GPU.

When two adults want to squabble over their opinions about ravioli, I just scroll and stop for the pizza shots.
It's different when a user here gives people constant grief over their decision to say, pay $699.99 msrp for a rtx 3080. Man those comments haven't aged well.

I mean that $700 GPU is now $1500, so I was right. You play nice with greedy corporations and they only take more and more. It's you guys fault I had to buy an Alienware and I hate you all for that.

I remember when I used to post here people would call me a troll and report me to mods to try to force me to leave. I hope everyone can see how sad this place has become since I've moved on to better things. You guys were the trolls all along. If anyone else is tired of this toxic community, come join me at the PCGamer forums.

#14400381 Nvidia/AMD GPU Re-stock Thread

When the 3080s came out I said the pricing was ridiculous and a sign of worse things to come, but you fools kept going on and on about the "value" of it performing better than a 2080TI or something bla bla bla.  Well this is what you guys get.

Anyway, my Alienware came in and I have it up and running.  Oddly shaped feller with cramped insides, but surprisingly easy to get into and work on.  Upgraded the RAM, added an NVME, SSD, replaced the HDD.  So far so good.  I had to exchange my new monitor because of a defect so once it comes in I'll be able to see how well it does.

Dude's just get a Dell. I recently ordered an Alienware R10 with the Ryzen 5600X and a 6800 XT for $1545 before tax. You can't beat that, even with the crappy 8GB RAM (just upgrade on your own), 1TB HDD (again upgrade on your own).  The 6800 XT by itself is going for like $1300 to $1500 on Newegg - non-scalper prices and it jumps even more when they force you to buy a bundle with other crap.  The 3060TI version of the same build was $1250 so not bad either considering the 5600X is $300 and if you were the luckiest boy or girl in the world you could get the 3060 TI for $400 reference from Best Buy.  Even when supply comes back next year, everyone is going to be in for a big surprise because the "MSRP" for these cards is a thing of the past.  I sprung the extra $300 for the 6800 XT because it is a significantly better card and also came with a 1000W PSU and liquid cooling.  Yeah yeah yeah, proprietary parts, bla bla bla.  Alienware has done a lot to make their prebuilts upgradable so I plan to keep this things until the wheels fall off.  Also, pro-tip, if you haven't been taking Alienware Arena seriously, you can level up there and you get free Dell Rewards every 5 levels and they increase as you level up. I had $75 in Dell Rewards from Alienware Arena so that certainly helped push me over the edge.

Good luck superior PC bros.  Good luck as well to the inferior console bros as I know it's also a PITA to try to get a PS5 or XBS1XXL.  I recently got my first - PS4 - bought it off a friend.  Enjoying Days Gone (now on PC) and MLB The Show (now on XBS1XXL).

Doesn't DA:I have multiple endings? Maybe you just got a bad ending and the DLC helped? I'm a mix of Syntax and toaster. Don't have a ton of interest in going back for story DLC after the fact. Usually prefer to get the complete edition and get my fill at the time. Much prefer one off dlcs if I'm going back after the fact. Like Watch Dogs had a good DLC that was a different story in the same world. My favorite remains the FC5 season pass with it's completely different DLCs that had very little to do with the main game.

Also, pretty sure I had over 100 hours in Battlefield without touching the SP and all the DLC added to the MP which is the main point of the game.

Has anyone downloaded the Epic Game Store client? If so, have you downloaded Unreal Engine?

If you've answered "yes" to both of those, then you can also download the sample project available for the MetaHuman character designer.

Unreal's light mapping and texture baking has been consistently impressive, but these artificial people look better than at least half of all the real people out there. You'll also reportedly be able to create these high fidelity characters with a browser, so even development will include cloud-based computing now.
