Not sure what it’s like in your area, but here in PA we still have social workers making house calls

I was mostly just curious because I knew there were at least two or three social or psychology professionals on here so I was curious if they would be equally concerned with the mental and emotional crisis this is causing because I know some people, not all, see everything in tunnel vision through their profession. Like a police officer will look at everything with eyes of a cop, a physical healthcare worker will look at everything with mostly physical issues in mind. So I figured a sociologist would be talking a lot about the emotional and mental health and wellness of people a lot more then the average person. I just found it interesting.

I had already known about 1918 flu. I've wanted to be an anthropologist since I was about 11 and that was one of events in history I was always interested with but I didn't really think we would be going through something similar.

I agree with everything you said. It's probably going to be a tough balance all around the world.

Nothing you said here is based on reality...

I'm not parroting anybody. I was just telling what I've heard from the experts themselves about the virus and about the tests because so many people on here were talking about it. Other then that I don't know what you're talking about. Maybe you should look at what's going on in the rest of the world. I thought you might really not know the details about the virus or the tests but I understand now that you don't care so never mind.

As far as finances I'm going by the facts and my own life and my family's lives. There has always always been debt, since what the new deal. Who cares?

I would ask who are you parroting but I really don't think it's a good time to talk politics if it ever is. If you really want to know I come from a family that were life long democrats at least before the 70's I was told but we registered as independent in 2010. If someone wants my vote when I vote, I don't vote for socialists, communists or swamp monsters, regardless of party affiliations.

They say, they say, they say it's all about to end.

Well it is a long post, you're bound to say They a lot. I never heard of the group before but apparently they have a concert in my state in August. If it doesn't get cancelled maybe I'll go see them, since I already know the lyrics.

Nobody is bored enough to read all that.

Agreed. I've been reading this forum for several years now for information and opinions. I've never taken any codes or anything that people have posted because I don't post a lot. Mostly because I have no idea what you're talking about, you've said it better, or I would write too long of posts.

The way we were screening people still coming in from china was just checking temperature which we know isn't enough

I don't think America was doing nothing. I think Doctor Anthony Fauci, which is probably the most renowned disease expert in the world, was put in charge to investigate and communicate with Chinese doctors in early January along with a taskforce that was assembled before they had even named the virus. The Chinese government was very shady about telling people what was really going on and lying or keeping secrets. They found out that the Chinese government even censored the word "virus" from their internet in December of last year, so it wouldn't get the attention of doctors in other coutries. They arrested the doctor that first warned people about the virus and then he caught the virus and died from it. America, with WHO tried to help China so they could contain the virus to mainland China like they did with Ebola in Africa but China refused to let them help. No country knew that it would be this bad because of all the stuff China tried to hide about it. It wasn't until it hit South Korea that the rest of the world was able get more accurate information about the virus. It's a new virus that no one has any immunity to, which like someone else said, people that are more susceptible to it like the elderly or people with immune deficiencies or even breathing problems would possibly overwhelm the hospitals especially at a time when the regular flu is going on. Italy was hit that way because they don't have as good of a medical system, less doctors and a huge elderly population. It would be possible for that to happen in America too though, but there are more hospitals, more equipment - especially when you combine the private and government entities, and more medical professionals. The bad thing with America is that there was so much regulations and the CDC had almost complete control of things like this but they were not prepared for an outbreak of an unknown virus like this. They were set up to do a few test sent to them at a time. Something like the seasonal flu and H1N1 can be done more easy at regular medical facilities, what I think they call point of contact test or something like that, because it's such a different type of test. They've made different test in different countries for this virus now and some are more accurate then others. They couldn't even start working on a test until Jan 11th when China finally released the genome code of the virus to the rest of the world. It wasn't until February I think that the CDC said they made a test but then about the middle of February they found out the test was faulty and recalled it. States with labs in the private sector thought they could develop a better test but the FDA refused to let them do it until they were overruled and gave in by the end of February to start letting them make tests, which turned out to be more accurate. Now the Federal government is having to play catch-up by teaming up with the private sector, which I don't think has been done since WW2, on a huge scale to mass test people. So if anything is to be blamed besides communist China, it's American bureaucrats and big government.

I think they said the test can produce false reports though if you are not having symptoms. That's why they are basically only taking people's temperatures at airports and asking them about symptoms. I don't think anyone was probably downplaying the virus, except I did see one news report were a reporter was saying calling the virus the Wuhan virus was racist - which is ridiculous since it has always been common in science to call a germ by the place of the first outbreak: Ebola, Lyme disease, Zika, Rocky Mountain Fever, etc. All media was calling it the Wuhan virus before it had another name, including the reporter that later was calling everyone else racist. I think most people were just trying to keep people calm because until South Korea and Italy had such a bad spread no one knew enough about it. It's still not really that big of a deal for most people, just a little worse possibly then the regular flu for people that aren't already susceptible to that. The bad thing about it is how contagious they found out it was, so if you get it you could potentially hurt someone that would have a worse reaction to it. This was also a pretty bad spread of disease out of all the diseases that have came out of China because of how much China now controls so much globally. There are so many more people and goods going in and out of China now then there was even 10 years ago. They said that China has almost complete control of the production of all medication and elements used in medicine and medical equipment in America. Including the reagents used in this virus tests. They said almost 80 to 90 percent of all antibiotics in America come from China. That's scary.

I don't think people should be buying out stores though. A couple of weeks of goods to keep from going out so much is enough. Unless you live in an area with a lot of suspected cases or deaths then you really don't need to do anything any different then you would have done during a regular flu season, unless your state has more restrictions - since they have more flexibility then the Federal government does. Anything you can do might helped slow down the spread and help someone more frail then you though. If you can don't go out in crowds and have good flu season sanitary practices and if you can don't even go out as much as possible for a couple of weeks. If you have older or sick people that you know of that you want to help out try communicating with them over the phone or at a distance. If you want to do shopping or errands for them, you might want to leave their supplies on their doorstep if you're worried about them. Every country's reaction is different, America slowed down the spread here drastically by stopping flights from China so early but Europe did nothing and helped spread more of the virus here after they started having outbreaks. One good thing is out of all the cases, which were mostly mild, so far almost half the people that have it have already recovered including the cases in China. The site for more information on the virus is coronavirus.gov for anyone that needs more information. The reason why people are telling some different things is because unless your state has put bans or restrictions in place, then it's really up to the individual. You can either do what you were doing before or you can take more drastic steps to help slow the spread and help others.

I think some business and industries might be hurt a little but the overall economy is the strongest in history and will come roaring back like a lion in a few weeks since it is not a finacial crisis and economies will just shift from some goods and services to others for a short period and then will possibly cause even another boom as things shift back.

Also sorry for a long post. I'm using my phone and I don't know how to use the spoiler tag on it and I scratched my eye a few days ago and still can't see too good. I've ran out of food and I usually buy two to three weeks of stuff anyway but I dread seeing what the stores look like. I also just pulled a muscle in my back pretty bad yesterday, which happens sometimes now ever since I was in a bad car wreck a few months ago. So that's bad timing when I would have switched from getting everything at once to making more trips and I also wanted to see if my elderly senile neighbor needed anything because even if she was warned about the virus she probably would forget an hour later. She said she has missed doctor appointments before because she forgot where the office was or turned around because she forgot why she was even out in the first place, so that worries me.

It's not on sale and I'm not sure if anyone has posted it yet, but it looks like Castlevania LOS is available digitally now on the Xbox market place. If it was on sale for about 7 bucks I'd buy it in a heartbeat but I'm tempted to pay the $19.99 for it.

Not xbox but anyone wants a steam code for galactic civilization II that hasn't already got it, I already had it: G43XD-IWWYV-6KD42. It has to be used before tomorrow or it expires.
