#14412522 XBL Deals - DwG: Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, more | Golden Week, Star...

Posted by 2ndopp on Today, 05:11 AM

You may have missed our previous discussions on this. I believe for most of us, it takes about 3 days for the purchase reward cards to update. This is likely a layer of protection Microsoft put in place to stop people from buying and returning games the same day but still getting the points. Because it takes a couple days to register, we also do not recommend waiting till the last day of a punch card to make a purchase as you may not get the points at all.

Just an update, my purchases from the 23rd completed the punchcard today (26th)

I started playing Gears of War 4 last night. Mostly to be able to delete the game so I can install Flight Sim when it releases tomorrow since GOW 4 is over 100GB. It looks REALLY good and loads up fast on my Series X. It's odd that the in game graphics are better than the cutscenes. It's the same for some other games I've played that are enhanced for Series X but they can't upgrade the cutscenes. I'm curious if there is a way to tell if the game is enhanced for Series X just by looking at the cover art. Some games have an X/S on them and others don't. GOW4 doesn't but it's enhanced.

Is the game Control better to play on a Series X through Game Pass or the PS4 version on PS5? Has anyone tried both?

I don't believe Gears 4 was enhanced for Series X, It is just running the old One X enhanced code. However, they did add FPS boost that benefits the Series S and gets that version of the game to run 1080p/60fps (The Xbox One X version already had 1080p/60fps and 4K/30fps modes)

With most games you can tell if they are Series X enhanced by the X|S logo on the game tile in your games library. Another way to check if a game is Series X enhanced is in the "manage game" menu where you can check the file info. FPS boost games do not get the logo but the mode is on automatically as long as the game doesn't need a resolution drop to use it. FPS boost games are slightly more difficult to identify right now and I just use Major Nelson's list: https://majornelson.com/fpsboost/ All FPS boost "off by default on Series X" games take a resolution hit to run that mode.

If you entered the EA giveaway a few days ago and didn’t win anything during the initial prize draws: check again. I just got an email saying I won.

Hooray for people not claiming their prizes and redrawing!

My brother got one of those $5 promo gift cards in his Xbox messages today, about 5 hours ago. It must be redeemed by 8/31/21 and used in 90 days. It's for the Ultimate Game Sale.

Nothing for me on my two profiles.

I think I was on page 9.

If anyone wants to trade games let me know. I believe both of the games I won are part of Game Pass so I don't need them. Those games are It Takes Two and Star Wars Battlefront 2.

It Takes Two isn't on gamepass even though it's an EA game.

The code is ITSBACK

There was a code given out during EA play. Did anyone watch it? You enter it somewhere for prizes.

I didn't see the code, but that's where you enter it.

Why limit this to PS5 only?

I noticed that Toby: The secret mine is on sale for $1.99(usually $11.99). Now, I have never played it but it looks like Inside and Limbo and both of those games are awesome so I have to think this game is worth $1.99.

Looks like it’s $2 every other month and takes 3 hours to complete.

I did a review on the game several months back, outside of some of the visuals and basic puzzles, TTSM is a pale imitation of those games. If you’re buying it comparing it to those games, I wouldn’t bother. But in a vacuum it’s not completely terrible.

#14407078 Oculus Quest Daily Deals

If he has a beefy pc good enough to handle VR gaming and doesn't plan to use the oculus away from home, buying on steam or rift store with compatible games is fine and may well offer better graphics and performance. If the computer is iffy or he plans to take the oculus to show friends or what-not, sticking to the oculus store is a better option. I haven't noticed much difference in air link or virtual desktop. Both work fine for me.

As far as games comparable to the psvr titles  mentioned by Freeze Time, this is supposed to come out soon and may provide a superhero fix and Ritchie's Plank Experience has a mode in which you fly around being heroic and is one of the most fun experiences to introduce newcomers to vr. Neither of these games seems as fleshed out as Iron Man, though. I haven't seen any one game that compares to PS Worlds similar experiences can be pieced together with several titles, but I am not aware of a great match on oculus. Onward and Phantom: Covert Ops are good action /shooter games I've played. I love Superhot VR. Did he play that on psvr? While he might not find those exact games, between oculus and steam there is a wide variety of quality vr games in most any genre.

Checked out the Doom Eternal next gen upgrade and it’s amazing. It’s really hard to decide between the raytraced (1800p 60 FPS), balanced (4K 60 FPS) or 120 FPS (1800p). All three look phenomenal. Probably go with the 120 FPS.

Loading times are almost non-existent.

Gonna try it tonight. My brain will probably force me to use RT unless it somehow looks too blurry from the lower res.

Since both the 4K (2160p) and Ray Traced (1800p) modes are 60fps, it will make it a little more difficult to choose. I guess it will come down to how aggressive the dynamic resolution is. For example, the Xbox One X version targeted 1800p at 60fps, but the dynamic scaling meant the game was usually running at 1440p. If both the Series X versions are locked at the higher resolutions, it makes the choice really tough. I don't have a 120 fps tv, but that mode may have even better temporal resolution with 120/1800p

I played Conker in the Rare Replay collection. It was a good game with some really frustrating controls in certain parts. Is live and reloaded the same game just with better visuals and just censored with language? Does it improve upon anything?

A graphics and audio upgrade but as you mentioned, they censored the vulgarity. The Fandom page also mentions some control tweaks.

#14400942 PlayStation Now: 12 Month Subscription (NA Digital Code) $39.99

Posted by BobbyTastic on 04 June 2021 - 04:19 AM

Yeah, PS Now supports PS4/PS5 game downloads on PS4/PS5, but only offers PS3 games for streaming. PC has no ability to download games, only offering streaming for all games.

This is tempting.... Is this the lowest price it's been?

Basically. PS Now got a price drop to $60/year like a year ago, and this is the deepest discount since then.

#14400229 Walmart YMMV In Store Clearance Thread I (READ THE FAQs)

I am just looking at a 40 inch or bigger TV for a family member that just moved and has like a 27 inch or something pathetic and the used TV in the area on offerup and CL are comical. People wanting $150 for a 10 year old TV when I can buy a brand new one for like $50-100 more. I was hoping Walmart had a close out on some HDTV's but I couldn't find anything new. Was trying to find some older deals that the local store still might have.

My Vizio TV suffered some serious burn-in on the left side of the screen, so I pulled the trigger on this Element TV at Target this morning.

I've never had a 4K TV before, so it was nice to treat myself for all of the overtime that I've been working lately.  I also got back 5% of the purchase price with Target Circle, so that was good too.

My only complaint so far is the voice helper that started speaking by itself while I was setting it up.  It creeped me out, so I turned that feature off right away.
