I knew not to set my expectations high for X1 but this is a pretty big disappointment. X360 got aome pretty good games.

Yeah, a beautiful RPG and a brand new game that almost certainly has online multiplayer, so everyone will be able to play together. So lame!

Here's my Slender: The Arrival review. I think it captures what the game is like, from start to finish, pretty well. Please check it out.

Is slender the arrival worth it? It's only $6.99.

Here's a video of me playing Slender: The Arrival.

I think $7 is just right. It's not a long game, but super creepy and tense. I enjoyed it for the most part.

Double Dragon Neon sucked a massive cawk.

It's not April Fool's Day yet. Also, no need for unpleasant language like that.

Are these argument's invalid since nothing will be solved because every argument a person makes, makes them further entrenched on their stance and unwilling to budge and vice versa on the other side? Meaning, isn't this all arguing for the sake of arguing?

Well, one side of the argument is trying to help females and the other is trying to hold them back. It's not so bad to be entrenched in one of those positions.

My Flame Over review for those that still have a wallet after all the flashing:

http://gamegravy.com...iew/flame-over/

Dude! I can't believe you said the game would be better if it didn't have firefighting. Damn Game Gravy reviews...

Err, I mean great review. I dislike the character art but I agreed with the rest of it. Wish I had more time to play the game. :)

That reminds me; anybody know what might cause me to never get notifications when twitch users go live? I have that function turned on in my settings, but have never received one of those emails.  :-k

You might also need to go to the channel you're following on a web browser, click on the arrow next to the heart (for following), and select On instead of Off for email notifications.

Forgot to mention, the stream is at 8pm Central/67pm Pacific as always.

I'll check it out tonight while playing one of these shitty shooters I bought from the flash sale.

I don't even want a free code since I have costume quest 2 already.

How do u like dem apples?

Derekxtreme will appreciate that. He's overdue for a win! Plus it's always good to have you around. :D

Since Tyler's out prowling around, Munkywawa's going to cohost our Costume Quest 2 stream tonight at 8pm Central/6pm Pacific. Also, giving out Costume Quest 2 as prizes. :)

Mine wasn't so polite.

I don't blame ya. Can you embed it then?

I guess I should feel honored?

He blocked me, the asshole. Over that POLITE reply I embedded a few minutes ago.

RCR certainly wasn't my favorite game.  I did really enjoy the references but I thought the gameplay was below par.  I wonder how much has been addressed in the updates and DX version of the game since I played at launch.  The graphics, eh, they weren't the best.  But I don't remember them affecting the gameplay either.  Hotline Miami's art style is far worse.

I don't think it plays that great either. But graphics-wise, you have to remember that RCR is specifically designed to look like an NES game. The dev even went back and got it running on the NES with only a few minor downgrades like removing frames of animation and store signs. So it's not supposed to look pretty per se, just represent what a GTA game would/could look like on that extremely old hardware.

I am so NOT going to follow him, so I appreciate you linking that. My reply:

And man, Vblank LAYED into him a few minutes ago. I can't get too much into that without crossing the professionalism line. But telling  Anthony he's a dummy in a nice way is fun to do.

Horrible things have to sometimes happen in comics to keep the story moving and people interested. I'm sure people who loved Robin didn't wish for their hero to be beat to death with a crowbar (although enough did vote for it).

Bad things keep the story moving. If Tyrese wasn't beheaded in front of the Prison, if Lori and the baby weren't gunned down, if Invincible wasn't beaten to a pulp and raped, if Agent 355 wasn't killed, if Pearl wasn't abused and left for dead, all of Contstantine's freinds dying in Hellblazer, if Kid Miracleman didn't brutally destroy London, etc.

I'm surprised Moore regreats that scene. The whole Kid Miracleman event is much darker. Kid Miracleman is continually beaten, abused and raped by other boys which pretty much leads to him destroying all of London (with some very graphic and extreme shots) and that event drives the rest of Miracleman. There seems to be no controversy over what happened to adolescent Johnny or the fact he is pretty much put down for the greater good to make sure something like that can't happen again (I believe they either snap his neck or crush his head during a tearful embrace)

The issue isn't that something bad happened to A character, the issue is that something bad happened to a well-loved female superhero. There are a lot less of those to go around than male superheroes. Also, she didn't get hurt in the line of duty but in a typical "female gets victimized by villain" kinda way.

In Moore's case, he probably didn't think about how women in refrigerators was becoming a harmful trope when he wrote the scene, or that female comics readers would ever be a significant enough group to consider in the writing process.

Here's a good explanation:

Many popular superheroes fit neatly into the Dead Men Defrosting trope such as Superman, Hal Jordan as Green Lantern, Barry Allen as the Flash, Spiderman, Captain America, The Hulk, Nick Fury etc. etc.

A classic example of this difference applies even when characters are depowered, when Barbara Gordon as Batgirl was shot in the spine by the Joker as a way to drive her father, Commissioner Gordon, insane.  She was permanently paralyzed and had to create an entirely new identity for herself.  But when Batman’s back was broken over supervillian Bane’s knee, he fully recovered.

Simone responded to this criticism by saying, “First, there’s [always been] a larger selection of male characters, so a handful killed made barely a ripple. Second, they didn’t seem to be killed in the same way—they tended to die heroically, to go down fighting. Whereas in many cases, the superLADIES were simply found on the kitchen table already carved up.” The writers of these comics treat similar narrative situations very differently based on a character’s gender, and it seems to be fairing much worse for the women.

Yeah he did. But had a point too. But yeah, dev sounded insecure.

Vblanc hasn't made a lot of games, so Retro City Rampage is a big part of his life. I can see why he'd address criticisms that literally seem unfair. At both of the gaming sites I've worked for, we would try to assign a game to someone who likes that style of game. We wouldn't assign a retro-style game to someone who doesn't like pixel art and chiptunes.

Once someone made these really specific and yet totally unfair criticisms of one of my reviews, and I spent a lot of time addressing his non-points. In his case, he didn't understand how reviews work and proudly remained ignorant even after I provided a bunch of explanation. And that is why I hate people now. But my point is, I really care about everything I do, and it's surely the same way for a small indie dev who put a lot of personal effort into his game.

"why are we depicting Barbara Gordon in a single, 30-year-old instance of victimhood" was one quote about the cover. I feel like that moment is pretty much a defining moment for the character. When I think of Jason Todd I only have two images in my head. The first one is Batman carrying his corpse, and the 2nd is the wide-eyed look of fear he has as the Joker beats him to death with the crowbar. That is also pretty much his defining moment as a character (even though he should still be dead).

Not going to go into this much as I don't think it will get anywhere, but while it was a defining moment for the character, it's a moment that a lot of people don't like. Superhero comics are generally about wish fulfillment, and now that girls read comics too (the horror!), surprisingly, they don't especially wish for their heroes to be shot and paralyzed by the Joker. Weird, I know.

Also, Alan Moore actually said the editors shouldn't have let him put that bit in, which is a very rare moment of non-hubris for him. But supposedly it was going to be non-canonical originally. It's a very good book, true. But too close to the women in refrigerator trope for some people. Women! Trying to take our comics away!!
