...and this is how a company goes out of business. Simply crazy that they could allow this to happen.

What's really crazy is that this happens over and over and they do nothing. No one seems to know how to stop it inside the company, or they don't care to, which tells you a lot about how things are on the inside right now.

Uhhh, did anyone else who had points issued to them from customer service have them disappear?  The 5k that was given to me for them losing my April PUR coupon aren't in my account anymore...

Update:  Actually, it's showing that my points were spent ON my new May PUR coupon?! The Fuck?

Usually Auto issued means that your account was set to spend points automatically on a reward. Do you maybe have two coupons in your offers now?

You can still save on Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise. Its basically a Yakuza/Judgement game, but with more exploding heads and fewer hostess clubs.

One of my very favorite games from last year, got me into the Yakuza genre too. I finished Zero with Kiwami up next.

Don't forget Alien Isolation when talking about great lightbar uses. Loved playing that game in the dark.

Followed by the "How can we get a class action suit against Gamestop for cancelling all our orders!"

No point in any further discussion on the glitch.  It's over now...

If history is any teacher, we now need 24-48 hours of "Is my order gonna ship??" posts too.

Sorry if I am late to the party, does everyone plan on dumping their trade credit after the announcement of 300 stores closing? I have about $160 in credit. I was going to save it for the last of us 2, but maybe I should just burn it all for PSN/XBL/Eshop cards online.

It'll be at least 321 and maybe more is what they actually said. Meaning likely more. But I think them staying open until that game comes out is fairly likely. But unless you want the special edition physical you can always just cash in for PSN and buy it online.

Q4 earnings call just happened, GameStop posted a profit of $21 million compared to a loss of $187 million in Q4 of last year. George Sherman noted an increase in demand due to COVID-19.

No mention of closing 2,000 stores or shutting down completely because of the outbreak. I guess you guys know something he doesn't?

Uhm...Q4 numbers are still pretty bad. Revenue didn't even hit the already lowered estimate. Sales are down 28% year over year. Q4 2018 had an asset impairment charge, which we have talked about on here, so the profit comparison you made is not representative of how they are doing. And COVID-19 increasing demand isn't anywhere in Q4 2019, which is up to Feb 1st 2020.

They already had a press release about the upcoming store closures long ago.

Are folks here operating under the presumption that Gamestop(s) may not reopen when the virus recedes?

You guys are God-Tier Gamestop experts.  As a mere layman, I'm trying to decide if I should liquidate my $50 TIC and 62k reward points ASAP.  Was hoping to maybe use on a console later this year but if it's wiser to dump now, then I'll do that.

Thank you!

We are operating under the possibility. It's more for the folks who have something like many hundreds or more in TC who may end up with nothing to buy if they go under very quickly. I personally have reduced my TC amount, but not emptied it. But if the consoles are delayed, then I would look to probably dump it all.

Interesting, I got an email this morning from the the Butterfinger FF7 promo giving me the remaining 4 items without me sending them anything. I wonder if they are just giving them all out now.

"GameStop to close all California stores indefinitely"

It's indefinite because they have no idea when they will lift these orders. But if the employees all go on unemployment they won't have any staff to reopen the stores with I would assume.

Should I be worried about my preorders for games that come out in June-December?

The farther out, the more I would worry.

Yep, looks like the California stores are closing immediately, possibly on order from the Governor's office. I wonder if that's the last I have set foot in a Gamestop now. Gonna be hard to liquidate all this TC online.

Are you prepared to argue with the authorities that obtaining a copy of Animal Crossing is somehow "essential"?

Kind of a Catch-22 for law enforcment. If I can't go buy Animal Crossing, then GS shouldn't be allowed to sell Animal Crossing during the crisis.

Our governor thinks half the state will end up with the virus. I’m going out to find water and rice and then I’m staying home for at least a few days.

I seriously doubt he believes those figures. It's a worse case scenario in order to justify his actions. (Sorry if I'm veering a bit off topic. Hard to avoid the subject even in a gaming forum right now.)

Does Gamestop have enough cash reserves to survive being closed for 1-2 maybe more months? Unless this pandemic turns around fast I don't see how they could stay open much longer. I have a feeling once those doors close they won't open again. Think I'm gonna play it safe and cash out my next-gen nest egg.

They don't. They will reopen, but it's Chapter 11 shortly after that. I see some others in this thread are thinking like I am, that maybe the time to cash out is now even though I really don't want to.

California governor issues "stay at home alert" effective midnight tonight which includes closure of non-essential stores.

Wanted to pickup AC tonight but my store says they can't sell it until tomorrow.  Store 5 miles away (where I don't have it pre-ordered) said they're selling it.   I'm not sure either store will be open tomorrow.

Order is the same shelter in place that the 6 counties have had. Gamestop will stay open probably. But screw him for saying it will be 8 weeks or longer. Shutting down the State for several months is insane.
