Fire Emblem Thread

26 October 2020 - 02:05 AM

Currently on my first playthrough myself, in Part 2 & 50 hours into it. I chose to go with the Black Eagles...

And I have no idea if I'm going down a good or evil route. I may have slipped on a banana and accidentally killed an important character... Or maybe two? Ah, who's counting when there's enemies to slay.

Edit: Finished the game that next morning. Pretty damn good game IMO. Next up is trying to get the rest of the endings, but with the Expansion Pass and Amiibo's. Goodbye another 180+ hrs lol.

Going to go the complete evil route this time, attempting it blind though so... IDK, everybody dies lol.

1440p 120 Hz or 4k 60 Hz Monitor... Which Monitor Should I Get?

28 September 2020 - 04:26 AM

Current Hardware:
GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
Intel Core i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz
15.91 GB RAM
1TB HDD at 7200RPM
1920 x 1080 60Hz Monitor (Current Monitor)
About the Monitor:
In about a weeks time I plan on upgrading my monitor. I don't think I'd like curved screens (although I've never tried one) and I'm thinking the bigger the better. I'm not completely sold on that thought though, I just tend not to play fast paced online games like first person shooters or anything like that. I like my turn based games, a lot. I saw what I think was a video running at 120 to 140 fps  a bit ago (on our big screen tv), and it looked so damn smooth that I'm leaning towards that experience for my setup. IDK if it justifies cutting 4K though. My budget for a new monitor is $485.00
Additional info:
If I'm lucky enough to still be able to find a brand new RTX 3080 for $800.00 USD 4 months from now, that's what I plan on upgrading from my GTX 1060. Other than those two upgrades, I'd really prefer to upgrade the CPU / motherboard too, but there is no way in hell I'm trusting myself to get that setup right, so I'm not really sure if I should wait on that, or just pay some guy to set it up for me after I get the parts. I know nobody that knows about PC hardware lol. I'm most certainly going to get a 1TB Internal SSD at some point. And as for RAM, not really sure I need it just yet, but I really am not well versed in PC hardware.
Too Long;Fell Asleep Version:
Unless you guys steer me in another direction, my priority is getting a monitor first, an SSD second, saving up a few months for the GPU, buying both a motherboard & CPU and then finally upgrading my RAM to 32GB or more. I use my PC almost exclusively for gaming if that is anything to consider.
Any help would be appreciated.

Wildfires on the West Coast

13 September 2020 - 08:37 PM

It's pretty crazy over here, the smoke from the wildfires keeps getting worse each day, and today the smoke got really thick outside. A town about 85 miles east of where I live has ash raining from the sky, and no matter where I've been the sky during the day looks "Amber" for lack of a better word. We've been getting fires every year pretty bad, but this one lowkey has got me a bit spooked. Fires in almost every direction.
