#14524072 Nintendo eShop Deals and Discussions

I'm supremely out of the loop so can someone catch me up? Will wii / 3/2ds games still be playable and downloadable after the shutdown or is it the case where if it's not downloaded too bad? Highly considering some 3ds games and maybe umbrella chronicles but kinda depends on how accessible they'll be. $3 is a great price for the ace attorney trilogy and the re games there so def gonna pick em up just curious if I need to get an SD card to install them all now or if I'll be good as long as I buy them now.

Any other major gems worth picking up? Ive never played a monster hunter game so maybe one of them? Or anything else in general I should watch for?

-As of right now, the shutdown is for the PURCHASE of said games. You can still download the games as long as it's in your account and as long as the servers are still up. As far as I know, there are no constant online checks, so play them offline as much as you want. Pretty much, you download it, it's yours.

-You can just buy as much as you want on the webpage version of the eShop. If you don't have room for it, it'll just remain in your account, just access the eShop on your 3DS at your convenience, and select redownload the software. IIRC, if you buy it on the 3DS proper, they will stop you from buying it if you're low on space.

-Played through a fair bit of MH4 and MHGenerations, I'll choose Generations, it's like a greatest hits of sorts. Though MH4 has a decent story mode IIRC.

House of the dead remake is $12.49. But I remember reading somewhere it’s actually not as good as the Wii version because of the joycons?

At least going by Maximillian Dood's playthrough of it. Yeah, that's one of the reasons. He actually uses the Pro Controller's gyro, and that worked out better. He also touched on the bias of comparing it to the actual arcade version and how having the reticle changes things in terms of general game feel.

Yeah, with Star Wars titles, I'll go by, if it has a PC version, that gets ported. That means with Shadows of the Empire, we won't get the N64's nicely hand painted art, but those janky mid 90s 3DCG cutscenes, ha!

Unfortunately, that means even though we might see a port Rouge Squadron [3D], we won't see Rouge Leader nor Rebel Strike. If we go by this.

#14490031 New Xbox One X owner- question on 360 games/transferring accounts

Posted by omegafinal on 02 August 2022 - 07:31 PM

I'll be working off of somewhat old knowledge when I got my XBox One X a couple years back.

1. Yes. It is possible to move your save files from the X360 to XB1. When I did it for Red Dead Redemption 1, I needed a Live Gold account to upload the saves up to the Cloud, and therefore it can be accessed on the XB1.

2. Last I checked, X360 saves could not be moved to the XB1 via USB. See Answer 1.

3. You should be able to install X360 games onto a XB1 hard drive. But the game must be on the backwards compatibility library.

In case if I've missed some things, hopefully this link will help on the subject.

Hmm, it doesn't sound arrogant to me either, given this is the Wii remake/reimagining, and not the NES original. I guess if it said the series as a whole started on Wii, that would be arrogant; but they are only talking about the version that appeared on the Wii.

So PS Now got GTA III, Game Pass got GTA SA, does that mean the NSO Expansion Pack gets GTA VC? :bouncy:

Now for a bit of weird history, apparently there was a port of Vice City on Gamecube planned, but was cancelled. Would be an interesting coincidental nod.

You can use larger micro sd cards if you format them to FAT32. I'm using a 256gb card.

Okay, you just piqued my interest. I know I have friends who had done it with a 64GB with some software to force FAT (forgot which variant) to format it past the 32GB limit. But I don't think I've heard of people using a 256GB. Then again, it was a couple years ago, and prices have gone down. I'm going to have to look into that.

You also don't need to use medicine. You'll be healed the next morning and it has no effect on you negatively.

Though make a couple just in case. Not for you, but for your villagers if they get sick.

Guys, released a couple of days ago, it is showing Free:

"Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, an official free-to-play Dungeons & Dragons-based strategy game. Assemble your Champions and master the art of Formation Strategy."

https://www.nintendo...-realms-switch/

Don't know if it's good or not.

Played through the Steam version a lot back then. It's somewhat more involved than your typical idle game. Compared to something like Clicker Heroes or Cookie Clicker, where I guess there is one "hero" (you) and a bunch of "farms"/"assistants" to help you out. Idle Champions rely more on team composition AND positioning to maximize your team's effectiveness to get through the missions. Mission are also "shorter" and you're encouraged to restart more often, since they are structured more like individual quests and whatnot, if that makes sense. But it is an idle clicker through and through, but it did change up the formula enough that I stuck with it for about a year. (Not sure how it compared to the developer's other idle game.)

You might have just sold me on this. My 9yr old would love it. Does it have a game with it? Also I read you can use the VR with Botw.

Yes. You can play BotW in VR. Odyssey as well, but it is its own game mode, IIRC.

How about the Sega Ages stuff?

I'm reluctant to get any because I keep hoping to see a collection  of them, but I had a lot of them on 3DS and they're very well done.

If I double dipped, which ones might be "essential"?

Adding my votes for these two games as well.

Phantasy Star is pretty much the highlight for me, because of one thing: An automap feature, which the original game never had, and it's done similar to how maybe Wonderful 101 Remaster did or Megaman Zero/ZX Collection did handling two screens side by side. Even though the game has autosave as well, manually save often, because the game, for some reason, will autosave after you die!

Outrun as well. Because Outrun. It's amazing to play this version on widescreen.

#14180087 Xbox Game Pass Ultimate $1 only !

Posted by omegafinal on 20 June 2019 - 12:23 AM

no matter how you look at it, it's an awesome deal.  let's say you only have 6 months left of Gold.  If you paid $1 to upgrade it to Ultimate, you would now have 6 months of Ultimate and for those 6 months, you have the benefits of Gold, the benefits of Game Pass, and the benefits of PC Game Pass.  And if you let it lapse, you can always go back to being just Gold and resume your Gold games and benefits.

But if you want to truly max that $1, you would max out your Gold membership to 3 years.  And then pay the $1 to convert it from Gold to Ultimate and then have 3 years of Ultimate (Gold + Xbox Game Pass + PC Game Pass).

example:  8 months left of Gold -> pay $1 -> 8 months left of Ultimate

example:  1 year of Game Pass -> pay $1 -> 1 year of Ultimate

example:  1 year of Gold + 2 years of Game Pass -> pay $1 -> 3 years of Ultimate

example:  2 years of Gold + 1 year of Game Pass -> pay $1 -> 3 years of Ultimate

example:  8 months of Gold + 4 months of Game Pass -> pay $1 -> 1 year of Ultimate

Slight correction, but an important one. Keep in mind the $1 offer is for a month, so something like having 8 months of Gold plus 4 months of Game Pass, adding in the $1 Ultimate offer, you'll end up with 1 year and 1 month of Ultimate. But that also means, to maximize the offer, it's best to have 2 years and 11 months or less of Gold and Game Pass combined due to the three year limit.

The mechanics of dark souls is hard to adjust for me...feels like a [EARLY *] pC game

Anyone else ?

(* early pc.....autocorrect ommited the early )

The first time I remember playing Dark Souls, it did feel rough, since it's the first time I've played a game like this in a long time. Everything you and your enemies do has a deliberate tone to it, and there is a certain "weightiness" to it. Thankfully it is not one of those "suck it up, deal with it" hard games (Something I think bad imitators concentrate too much on), since part of the rewarding experience is being able to learn the pattern and overcome those challenges. I think I recall that there is a "musical" quality to the battles as well. It's still a hard game, yes.

Thinking of picking up Mario Kart this weekend with the sale...any one play it with a 3 year old? I’ve watched my son try and play LEGO city and drive in that and it’s not fun. Worried it’ll be the same issues. He can handle using Cappy in odyssey but that’s about all.

There is a smart steering and auto acceleration option for MK8DX, so that may help your 3-year-old enjoy the game with little frustration. I remember seeing a video where you can let the game play itself with those two options on, and it's pretty crazy.

They say Nintendo isn’t good with customers but idk man, I’ve had one or two issues and they’ve resolved it quicker then Sony cS ....Friday my card wasn’t loading into my eshop funds and it was 1 min past business on west coast for the dept but instead of making me wait till Tuesday or wed day they put the $20 loaded into my fund direct

Nintendo listens

Btw any talk of RDR2 for switch?

As much as I want it to come to the Switch, I highly doubt it. I would bet more on GTA IV or V, or RDR1 coming to the system sans multiplayer, than RDR2. And actually, how did LA Noire perform on the Switch, that would be an indicator.
