That's a fine looking cord. Now I regret getting the Series S. What if the cord isn't as nice?

Hate to break it to you, but the X with be the first console I have ever preordered or acquired at launch so brace yourselves for a complete dumpster fire...sorry and your welcome

I was looking at retailers to possibly try and grab a preorder when it dawned on me that maybe I should do the S. My motto is game pass for Xbox, PS4 for exclusives, and Nintendo for exclusives and mobile games. Do we know enough about the S to think if I don’t play disc games I would be good to go with expandable storage etc? Anyone in the same boat?

It's replacing my 1S at the main TV so between the BD Player for movies and extra 500GB of SSD I figure it's worth it for $200 upgrade. The chatter is that the proprietary SSD expansions will be $$$ if that matters.

Personally, I would prefer the S over the X for the compact form factor and clean look. If I had a desk gaming area and a nice monitor, I would go with the S. If you don't need the BD drive or the extra SSD room, I would think the S is a solid deal. Personal preference I suppose....

Funny thing is it's against ebay policy to sell pre-orders that are more than 30 days away from release. This is risky for the seller more than the buyer, the seller could get banned or even scammed.

yeah, I was kind of thinking it has to be shady buyers using some kind of "funny money" or plan to work the system by filing a charge back, etc.

I mean, maybe somebody just really wants it first...but I can't wrap my walnut around that logic. Special edition, I get, but this seems odd...

Do you even get a warranty with Sony doing this? This thing could put the RROD to shame for all we know....

Out of curiosity, how many people are going to use the Xbox All Access to get the new system? I’ll have enough money to pay my for mine but the two years of GPU is very tempting. Mine is still paid up until spring of 2022. I’m trying to decide which way and through who to do my pre-order.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't have GP yet so doing the All Access thing seems like a done deal for me. I get that you can watch for cdkey deals or use space bucks but the savings just don't seem worth the extra work considering I pay about the same for movie streaming and don't think about it anymore. IDK the answer but $35/mo and not worry about it is an attractive offer for me. I can just apply my space bucks to the few games not on GP I want digital at that point. Plus I would think GP will get a lot of MS resources diverted that way after launch, seems like subscription is where they want to be so I imagine we will see a good bit more quality content coming up.

Well, THPS was never a button-mashing game so that could be the issue. . .

I do what I want!

Any game requiring timed, coordinated pressing of more than about two buttons, becomes a button mashing game when the controller is in my hands. I am pretty bad at video games in general and do not have an abundance of time to invest in practicing. I mostly play games on the easy difficulty settings...I think I figured out how to make the game more forgiving; there are "mods" you can turn on that adjust the difficulty for any of those struggling like me.

I find it odd there is no disc displayed or mentioned on the front of the X packaging.

Yet they are proud of those exhaust vents...perhaps it makes for a cozy heater this upcoming holiday season

Sorry and I totally agree about the boring part. Lol.

So what's the first game everyone is going to play on their next gen Xbox?

I'm still not sure if I'm gonna get it but if I don't it will be solely because I bought a download of Cyberpunk for xbox and I really want to play that on my OLED. I'm debating that and buying a new graphics card and playing on my PC. I prefer playing games on my sofa but lately I've been trying to play more games on PC.

I have a reserve for the XIII remake...it might end up being the first since it releases in November. My plan is All Access so could be whatever fancy title is on GP at the time.

Forgive my ignorance as I'm sure this been asked a million times, and I've likely seen the answer. Can I use the in-store certs to get PSN, Xbox, or eShop cards? It's been awhile since I've used the in-store certs (save the monthly $5) so I'm a bit rusty.

I get $5 xbox codes with mine. Worked for August, used Sept on THPS

In my scenario I'm getting the Series X for myself.  I was going to give my son my One X.  But, the Series S seems to be a slightly better product that is a bit more future proof.  Microsoft is taking trade in's, so if it is generous enough, it may be worth the upgrade.

is "give son" code for "I want that little speaker looking bastard in my hands but have to justify a reason to get it"

I get where you're at but still don't see enough meat there; if the trade in deal is good enough then you're probably still going to lean to a 2nd X instead of the S... I mean considering your 1X is paid for and the S/X difference is $200...obviously at this point if cash is the issue why are you paying for the swap...(I get there may be unmentioned reasons so just saying based on all things equal to my knowledge)

I guess I am missing the point in the SS vs X1X debate here...my understanding was that if you are an X1X gamer then you are not the SS target demographic.... the words "upgrade from the 1X to the SS" just do not make sense to me.

The Series X will lay sideways and fit in your current media setup. It plays UHD BDs. It cost $200 more and can be set up on payment sub. My guess is that anyone here debating pros and cons already knows they are going to pick up the X...we want the cool looking speaker box and say we're all digital but seriously, you're going to buy the X.

At the end of the day, are you going to regret shelling out that extra $200 up front more that $800 you end up spending to get the X after you have the S for a week? Plus you're going to have to redownload everything, it's going to be a whole headache.
