#14271311 CAGcast #626: To Catch a Hoarder

Posted by WittyNickname on 12 March 2020 - 05:56 PM

I'm five minutes in, and have already experience intense anger on behalf of someone I'll never know ("Stay away from me, Chinese lady"...!?! what the Fuck!?), followed immediately by immense pride for someone I'll never know ("They're all racist, and I don't want to sit with them.").

I can't take these wild swings in my emotions, fellas. Tell some ping pong stories so I can level off and maybe fall asleep!

Have you fellows lost your damned minds? The best sitcom theme song, REGARDLESS of decade, is the epic theme of self-discovery that began every episode of Perfect Strangers.

Wombat reading that camping list reminded me strongly of that ingenious Viva Pinata commercial, with the horse pinata promising a group of  kids a hilariously esoteric list of things in exchange for their not beating him for candy.

Don't know if links are a no-no, but here it is, just in case:

Yeah, Shipwreck is pretty clearly a sociopath. There's only so many times a tiger can show its stripes before it removes all doubt.

Unrelated, it caught me just right and I laughed a LOT at the notion of Wombat sitting down with his son to watch Porky's.

Stop asking for feedback if you're just going to make sport of mocking it.

#14126816 CAGcast #577: Greyhound Gang

Posted by WittyNickname on 05 February 2019 - 03:14 PM

Is it just me or is Shipwreck becoming more condescending with each new episode? I’ve listened to this podcast since the very first episode and typically enjoy the friendly banter. However, the awkward and sometimes downright rude commentary directed toward Wombat is bothersome. The recent Spider-Man/Iron Man debate was bad enough, but this week, Shipwreck took it too far with the greyhound comments. A common misconception is that retired greyhounds need a lot of space. They don’t, and it was obvious Wombat already had done his research. Yet Shipwreck can’t ever take Wombat at his word and presssd on. And isn’t Mrs. Shipwreck’s wife a veterinarian? Why pretend you have knowledge you don’t, and why must you do it at the expense of a friend?

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.

Love the show and appreciate the years of entertainment you’ve given to this community, but Wombat deserves more respect. No, he may not be some crazy smart rocket scientist like Shipwreck, but he brings a lot of personality to this show that is sorely missing every time he isn’t on. Respect the Wombat!

I agree 100%. He's becoming quite loathsome with his arrogance. Maybe it wasn't a comic bit, a couple months ago, when the other two guys had to practically crowbar some kind words out of him toward his cohosts.

I'm growing weary of Shipwreck's constantly being such a dick to Wombat. I get that it's supposed to be goodnatured, but it comes across that way less and less. Wombat's sniping back, a few minutes later, that this is all just the dumb semantics game Shipwreck likes to play had me nodding in agreement.

Maybe put less of a premium on "winning" when you present differing opinions.

Has anyone gotten an order confirmation email from Gamestop?? Placed order, received order # but no email and it doesn't show up in order history. Anyone else?

Yes. Took something like half an hour, but mine eventually appeared.

Is it safe to assume that Gamestop "doorbusters" will be in-store only?

Seems pretty commonsense, but I have no experience with Gamestop on Black Friday.

You're surprised at the low turnout in listener feedback? I can't speak for anyone else, but you directly acknowledged my feedback last week solely to tell me, and the others who'd chimed in with the same sentiment, to Fuck off and that you didn't care. That goes a long way toward eliminating future feedback.

WOMBAT! It's "modicum," not "moniker."

That said, I couldn't be on your side more in wanting to ignore some Youtube idiot, and I have no idea why Cheapy is so invested in any of it.

Shipwreck deserves way more shit than the zero that he was dealt for his pronunciation of Nex Machina.

It's a play on the fairly well-known Latin expression, Deus Ex Machina. Pronounced "DAY-oos Ex MOCK-in-uh."

I was really hoping for Wombat to jab him a bit for this, as it seems like the sort of thing he'd know, and welcome the opportunity to be the one dishing it out for once instead of constantly taking it from the other guys.

I like Wombat, and I respect his right to be completely wrong about the intro music to each episode.

It is usually rad. Keep it up, Cheapy.

To be blunt: Fuck the haters, Wombat.

Not to be too maudlin, but as a survivor of some relationship situations which turned pretty toxic, I always find it refreshing to remember that there are marriages wherein intimacy is genuinely desired by both participants sometimes.

What I'm saying is that I was doing an awkward arm-pumping simulacrum of an Arsenio Hall audience member upon hearing of your carnal fortunes of late. Nicely done, sir.

#13025304 Toys"R"Us Black Friday Ad

When the closest that this ad comes to an attractive deal for me is the prospect of only spending THIRTY dollars for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze a year and a half after it was released, it's pretty evident that Toys R' Us didn't exactly bring the thunder.
