While we are Americans, you fail to see the international appeal of a technologically advanced superhero who is an economic superpower in his own movies.

huh? Iron man is the ultimate capitalist/ American hero.  If you are rich enough, you get to play by your own rules.  It's like Ayn Rand herself wrote the character.  I sure people around world love the idea that a rich American is their only hope.

Thankfully the appeal of that mentality is waning.

Those scalpers are working just as hard as anyone else to get those items which is why they have X amount while others wait until it's too late and complain that it isn't fair when they have the same resources as the next guy (scalper, reseller, random person in line) to get an item.

Nah, Son.  Day One shouldn't be "too late".

Nice try tho.  I'm surprised you didn't throw in some sob tale about providing an "item" for some dying kid at only a 200% mark-up.

Shipwreck is being pedantic.

1.) the switch is not out and he is going by a picture

2.) the switch is a portable system and that means it needs to have the adapter at the plug. If it was in the shell, he would whine about the need to buy another one for travel

3.) it doesn't appear to be any larger than an nvidia shield adapter of which he said nothing.

cheapy can harp on price but neither the xbox one or ps4 is a portable system. They are limited. Compared the tablets, Switch is competitively priced, similar memory and actually has decent controllers.  The switch is a portable system you can play at home, it's not a home system you can take with you.

also, we have a house cleaner that comes once every 2 weeks. It's not that much and well worth it.

Esoteric only to those who don't know the meanings of the terms they use. If you don't believe me you can look it up.

Nor quite, skippy. There is nothing originally racist about the expression "Calling a spade a spade".  It was only this century that the word 'spade' (not the saying) began to have racist overtones which affected the use of the phrase.   Regardless it's false equivalence to pretend its the same thing as PDP using the language he used.

http://www.npr.org/s...a-spade-a-spade

"Historians trace the origins of the expression to the Greek phrase "to call a fig a fig and a trough a trough......Erasmus, the renowned humanist and classical scholar, translated the phrase "to call a fig a fig and a trough a trough" from Greek to Latin. And in so doing he dramatically changed the phrase to "call a spade a spade."..."To call a spade a spade" entered the English language when Nicholas Udall translated Erasmus in 1542. Famous authors who have used it in their works include Charles Dickens and W. Somerset Maugham, among others

He's just doing shock comedy.  BAck in the day it was STern as the most famous example.  Tom Green on MTV.   More recently Jackass qualifies.   etc etc People that did outrageous things to get a rise one way or another out of everyone.

This is actually the best comment about it. Additionally, the reality is that kids today are so far from the horrors of the past they often marginalize what happened out of sheer ignorance.  It's unlikely that PDP has ever encountered a Holocaust survivor (given his age). To him and many young people (yes I'm old). "Nazis/ Death" to Jews is just another meme. Sad but true. PDP is in Europe, he has a great opportunity to educate himself.

Cheapy spent a good chunk of time, wating through a fire alarm and clueless staff to get a free DVD and T-shirt he didn't even want.  I think his Cheapass status is still good.

The modern day American with a leftest world view holds their very world view as the moral high ground ...

Hmm complaining about "the left" acting all superior then pretty much saying they are all idiots who don't know the facts and get their news, if at all, from lightweight sources isn't really helping your cause there buddy.   Most people think their own personal politics is the morally correct choice...right or left. That you think otherwise is baffling.

#13109783 Help with a romantic/friendship/gift giving situation

Posted by usickenme on 19 December 2015 - 05:14 AM

Dude the only reason I was harsh because I've been in your shoes. Although I probably would've ignored the advice and given the gift as well. Glad to see you are realizing what is up, it sucks.

Hopefully you'll find things much easier next time 'cause that's the way it's supposed to be.

You can't make someone be interested in you. And really would you want to date someone when that person only showed interest after you bought them a nice gift?

If you've helped her, she should be one buying the gift.

#13094650 SW: Battlefront PS4 / XB1 w/ Free Kylo Ren POP $39.99 GameStop.com

Posted by usickenme on 11 December 2015 - 04:54 AM

That did make me genuinely laugh, thanks. Genre doesn't matter, my point is that season passes are a cancer on the industry that unfortunately are here to stay. That being said, I bought it for my son and he'll get probably 200 hours of mindless enjoyment out of it so it's money well-spent to me.

No worries I was just having fun. I'm old too and I remember gaming from way back worn. I also purchased Battlefront for my son to play. At least it has couch co-op. (Even if it is minimal). I'd take that over a lot these days

#12784825 Cheap ass guitar players?

Posted by usickenme on 04 July 2015 - 10:48 PM

wow, I thought I was the only guitar play who has been playing a LONG time and not gotten really good. I noodle around. I can learn most songs chords pretty easily and that is usually enough for me.  I always say I will try to get better but never do (I spend much of my free time running and playing games).

I have a Hohner Acoustic and a Fender Strat electric.

I liked learning on an acoustic as it makes going to electric so much easier.  I would also recommend one of the many tuning apps. Yes you can learn by ear but having an idea what a low e or a is supposed to sound like helps! If you have a Mac you can plug that guitar right into Garageband too.

#12237304 Obamacare architect calls Americans too stupid?

Posted by usickenme on 13 November 2014 - 08:47 PM

I don't buy "teh hypocrite" argument on both side. People support bills they like and generally don't care how they get passed.

I'm far more interested in the results anyway. I'll take the results of ACA over the results of the Iraq War any day.

I'm sure politicians of all stripes and pretty much every person I know has said "people are stupid" or something to that effect.

Bob I object to your link because it is behind a pay (or premium) wall.
