#14548407 Limited Run Games Thread - Nothing is Limited, We Make Everything Now!

For me living in Europe buying from LRG directly is still the best option. We'll see what the EU warehouse will do if it ever materializes, but until then I'm kinda okay with things as they are, aside from some absurd production and shipping times that definitely need to improve.

Open orders….sure, sounds fun!

In transit right now:

TMNT Radical Edition SWI

American Hero SWI

Raiden IV + V SWI

Blossom King II SWI

Night in the Woods CE SWI

Open orders:

Stellatum PS5

Buddy Simulator 1984 SWI

Garden Story SWI

Day of the Tentacle CE PS4

Valis Collection II SWI
River City Girls 2 Ultimate Edition SWI

Neo Geo Pocket Selection 2 SWI

Full Throttle CE PS4

Radiant Silvergun CE SWI

Konami Arcade Classics Anniversary SWI

Bloodshore PS4

Ara Fell & Rise of the Third Power SWI

Spidersaurs! CE SWI

Demon's Tilt SWI

Return to Monkey Island SWI

Demons of Asteborg SWI

Steel Assault CE SWI

Kung Fury SWI

Shin-Chan SWI

Toodee & Topdee SWI

Lunark SWI

Deathwish Enforcers CE SWI

Trip World DX CE SWI

Gimmick! CE SWI

Eh. More than I thought. But I'm looking forward to each of those.

Raise your hand if you're not free from LRG yet.

Um…I'm not. Nor do I want to be. :)

Despite all their troubles my enjoyment of their products far outweighs any negatives, for me personally. I'm all for massive improvements on their end, but as of now, I'm good.

That being said, I have ordered relatively few games from them lately. "Castlevania Advance" and "Scarlet Symphony" most recently, June had "Stellatum" and "Buddy Simulator 1984", but not a single thing in July. May also had only a single order, with "Heart in the Woods" and the "Gimmick!" CE.

So that's noticably less than in the past. I'm not complaining though, Amazon Japan is murdering my wallet this year :)

I barely have time to game anymore so I'd say 20% of my gaming purchases are for play and the other 80% are for collecting purposes, not necessarily as an investment but simply because I like the aspect of collecting with a "eh... not gonna help be retire but I could prob get my money back if I ever decide to get rid of it" (so you won't see me buying annual sports games but I might buy the occasional shovelware if it's cheap enough). Hence the regret with so many of my LRG purchases- can't even get my money back on them.

I see. And that's a sentiment I can share, actually. While I try to play a lot more than 20% of my games, it is indeed a good feeling to be able to sell everything with little to no loss, even if it's just in theory. That goes for retail stuff as well as limited, and therefore it's a sad sight to behold when LRG titles plummet in value or don't even find buyers at all.

In those early days of LRG I was pretty sure that given their rarity in print numbers and general obscuristy, pretty much every game would become somewhat interesting to collectors in the long run. Never bought anything with the intention to sell but making those purchases felt good, on several levels. Of course many people thought so, hence the scalpers.

I dwveloped first doubts about that rather early on with the release of "Lost Sea" but hey, super small print numbers, even that game will at least hold its initial value, right?

…..my personal eye-opener was when LRG sold "Nex Machina" and "Crawl" for 9.99$ all of a sudden. Didn't change anything about my purchase habits but that was the moment I understood that most of these games will never have any collector value, not even talking about monetary value. Even if you print only 1.000 copies, and it usually at least double that, the group of hardcore collectors seems to be rather in the mid triple-digits.

I mean, even now, look at what Red Art Games is doing. Making a mere 300 copies of their games a Deluxe Variant, the rest is shipped off to Amazon and whatnot, and even those 300 copies never sell out. That's ….saying a lot.

I've got like 50 LRG PS4 releases, mostly from before they started listing a ton of open pre-orders at once, and regret it all so much. Firewatch is the only LRG game I have that I'd say actually shot up in value, then there's like 4-5 that are decently over original cost, but the rest... all I see are tons of unsold listings.

Why do you regret them? Did you buy them merely for speculation/ value?
I too have quite a few of their early PS4 games but since they are interesting titles, I'm happy that I do.

But yeah, from a sentimental point of view it's a bit of shame that most of them are not enticing for collectors at all.

That being said, the limprint honeymoon is over anyway, not just aftermarket LRG. A friend of mine is desperately trying to unload the big CE of "Cotton Reboot" for Switch, from SLG, with the game still sealed. It was 80€ new, he's at 44€ now, I think, and still no takers. It's a bit depressing but the market is totally saturated on almost all levels.

Yeah it’s officially crossed a week on waiting for support now and even my bumps arent getting looked at.

Did you add comments to your existing ticket? For some unexplicable reason that would move it back to the bottom of the pile, or so it was explained on Discord a while ago.

Six. Full. Days. No reply to my ticket about the in hand valis vinyl nearing week 6 of in-hand status.

This is fucking absurd. I legitimately feel like i’m in a parody world rn.

My last ticket took 17 days (with a negative reply even, but what can ya do :))

I completely forgot radical editions werent shipped yet. God, I remember when merge dunked on lrg’s wait times and got josh angry at them, and they predicted april then! So even their joke prediction was off mark.

Sure took a long time, but you know what? I'm looking forward to it SO SO MUCH. Easily my gaming purchase of the year. I'm excited like a little girl  :D/  :bouncy:
Despite all negativity towards LRG, their products still bring joy to my life.

or the Sam/Max 2 standard edition.

Wasn't that mentioned in an update a while ago? At least I got an email about it, and my standard shipped about two weeks ago.

P.S.: On a more positive note, I AM excited for "Gimmick!". Hopefully the full music will be there (there was some special audio chip on the Famicom cart)

I can't believe LRG is getting me to buy another bulky CE…..I'm quickly running out of space and was determined to only get special editions for shoot'em ups and beat'em ups going forward. But this is too hard to resist.  :whee:

We aren't keeping this version of the site. There is a new one being tested right now that kind of goes back to being more simple and gives us more control on the backend. A lot of us weren't super happy with the new site and noticed some things didn't work as intended.

Thank god!!! The new site has been putting a damper on my shopping enjoyment ever since.

Alien Isolation will be using a 32GB card so there shouldn't be any downloads required. The game is only 17.8 GB.

Umm, I don't have a horse in this race because I'm content with my PS4 copy of the game, but ….while it's SUPER cool you're really releasing it, this is a perfect example of how communication could vastly improve.

"there shouldn't be any dl required" sounds …..uncertain. I mean, some people should know for sure, right? Even at this point?

Of course it makes sense that there won't be any requirement looking at the file size, but still.

Same goes for responding to a question about a release with "I think…".  At a certain point the CEO and COO can't know all the details for all the games anymore, I get that, but it makes a really odd impression somehow. :)  Kind of distanced.

(I also understand that the wording needs to be super safe in a way that LRG can't be sued later on…..peeps in the US apparently love to do that)

This, I don't understand. Since the English Asian release is already out, wouldn't almost everybody who wanted this game already gotten it from there? Sure, there'll always be someone late to the party, but I'm not sure those folks can carry a release by themselves. Well, what do I know. But I'm surprised.

Does anyone have any questions about our update I can answer?

Sure!

Day 1 LRG customer from Germany here, btw.

1.) So happy LRG EU is finally happening now! However…. I am wary after the lackluster Fangamer and NISA storefronts. Will the EU site be offering everything the US does? Can I still shop over there with the usual DDP shipping or will I / my country be blocked?

2.) Will there be any actual benefit for us customers? Shipping with EU isn't exactly cheap either, depending on what deal LRG was able to acquire.

For two 35$ standard Switch games I have to pay close to 100$ right now, with shipping and taxes. What's that gonna look like in the future?

3.) Those new CE boxes could be a good thing when filled with AWESOME artwork….looking at FM Towns cases, for example. Can you assure me the box won't feel cheap? Judging by the picture things could go either way with that. :)

4.) This will greatly limit possible CE contents though. Sure, usually it's a poster, some stickers and maybe a soundtrack, a pin or a disassembled standee anyway, which would fit….but just think of the amazing stuff we got with Toejam & Earl, To the Moon, Dust, Double Dragon Neon and so on. That won't be possible anymore, unless it's a big edition, but I suspect that will be reserved for retail-like games, like Dead Space.

SOR4 was your masterpiece, btw!

5.) Will Europe get imported ESRB games or will anything be different? I don't mind either way, just curious.

6.) Why didn't I get that 5$ newsletter coupon? :-/  (okay, less a question for you personally… ^^ )

That's all I can think of right now. Nice of you to offer deeper insights!
