I have to disagree with Wombat primarily on his point about Destiny's story. If Destiny is going to be the 10-year project that Bungie envisions then it is going to need a passable story for people to engage with. Halo 3's release was a huge event because people wanted to "finish the fight," not just because it had some new maps for multiplayer.
More applicable to Destiny, Borderlands does have a story you can follow with a clear end goal, very engaging characters and a unique tone that is consistent throughout the game world. This is all in addition to gameplay that feeds the compulsion for progress and loot. Titanfall also gave gamers little else to engage with than fun mechanics, that while wonderfully executed, didn't hold their attention.
If Destiny doesn't get it's act together and give people a reason to actually care about the universe then a good chunk of its audience will skip the sequel.
Congrats to Cheapy on the move! It makes me sad that I left NY for Cali all too recently. I hope having him back in the states only strengthens the community.
