#13766404 XBL Deals - 2017, Part II

For the one other person out there still using their XB1 Kinect, Air Guitar Warrior is worth picking up. My six year old son loves shredding on his air guitar while sometimes riding a shark. It's pretty hilarious seeing his enthusiasm for this game.

I would describe it as the results of the Kinect and a horizontal shooter having a musically dysfunctional baby. It's silly, never serious, and it's pretty forgiving with my kid randomly throwing his arms all around. Beating a boss and getting to do a album cover pose is extremely gratifying for him and entertaining for everyone else in the room watching.

BrĂ¼tal Legend my man! Jack Black in all his bleeped out goodness! Don't forget you can turn the gore off too! Muahahahahahahaha! Even the Wife might approve! Yay brownie points! And the most important part is.......

You can't stop the metal!

Great game. Sure the RTS stuff was a bit sucky, but overall Brutal Legend was fun and the soundtrack is mostly incredible for being over 100 tracks.

In 2050, it's gonna be "Nintendo won E3. Metroid 17 and Mario Super Paper Crash 7 look great!"

On my 16k Xbox & PS90x or whatever they want to call them.

Also, on a side note - BG&E2... I hate to sound like an old fuddy duddy, but was all of the language necessary?  I think the charm of the first game, besides awesome characters, was the ability for it to cover heavy topics while staying relatively kid friendly.  My kids enjoyed watching me play through it a few months ago.  BG&E2... there's no way, regardless of how gorgeous that trailer is.

Video games are truly becoming harder for parents to enjoy.  What I wouldn't give for a spoken language filter for games, just to bleep out cursing when the younglings are around.  I don't mind hearing it, but I don't exactly want my kids watching a very Sing-esque cartoon monkey shout Fuck repeatedly.

I have young kids myself and I agree about wishing more games offered a language or even a blood filter option. When I stay up late I love playing mature games, but the time I have to play them is very little. This E3 really made me realize how much of a fuddy duddy I have also become. As a family we watched the entire Xbox show and I got just as excited as my kids when the less violent trailers played. The reinvigorated excitement over Minecraft. Super Lucky's Tale looks cute! Sea of Thieves, the wife actually says a game looks like it could be fun.

Crackdown 3, dammit Terry Crews watch your mouth! The family wants to blow stuff up.

Unfortunately this method doesn't work with a guest account like I was trying to do on the same xbox live account, at least with this game. I only own 1 xbox live gold account.

You realize that with Xbox One that you only need 1 gold account? Your system has to be set as the home console and everyone else playing on that console will have gold as well. Just create a couple of extra live accounts for your console.

Home Gold
With Home Gold, everyone gets to play A single Gold membership provides Gold benefits, such as multiplayer and Games with Gold games for everyone in your home.

In for:

Fable II

Half Minute Hero

Hardwood Backgammon

Feeding Frenzy 2 (my partner loves the first one, so picked it up for her)

Debating Dragon Age Origins but I don't think I'll ever get back to playing that one...

I nabbed Feeding Frenzy 2 as well for my family as well.

I think it would really help the entire thread if more people posted their experiences with the Live Arcade games. Some of the obscures ones don't even have reviews when you Google them. I'm at work now, but I plan to make a post when I get home tonight to say which ones I liked so far.

Here's my haul so far.

Bomberman Battlefest - My wife and I enjoyed the first Bomberman Live game and my young kids enjoyed it when they tried it recently. Decided to get this one so we could have it on the Xbox One. I have more controllers for the Xbox One anyways. It seems almost identical to Bomberman Live so far which is alright with me.

Call of Juarez: The Gunslinger - Complete blind buy, but I do like Spaghetti Westerns. Someone said it has a fantastic Ennio Morricone-esque score. Reading reviews after purchasing it, it seems like it's going to be a fun FPS game.

Fallout New Vegas - Seems to be highly recommended. Even a few people who claim it's a much better story than Fallout 4. I've previously played FO3 & FO4 and enjoyed both.

Feeding Frenzy 2 - Looked like a game my family would enjoy. Like Bomberman it is something that can be picked up and played in shorts sessions together.

Ghostbusters Sanctum of Slime - Got this one free around the Oman wars on a sub account.  What I played was not great, but for $1 and change I figured I'd give it another try and own it legitimately. Local co-op too.

Joe Danger SE - I have never played it, but it looks like a lighthearted version of Trials HD. It was recommended here as a good family game.

Thank you Bing Rewards for the slightly discounted credits.

I'm very surprised bo2 was on the list because BC doesnt make you buy it again, just popped in my disk from launch day and was good to go

Completely untrue. I've bought a handful of games that were made BC just so I didn't have to find the box I stored them in, nor have to keep the disc out. I'm not someone who has gone full digital either, but I don't mind re-buying a few of my favorite games just so I can play them instantly whenever I have the urge.

I would guess that the rest of the "coming soon" 360 digital downloads on Amazon are coming to BC also.

That's the only reason I would see for MS releasing them that way at this point in the 360's life cycle.

For reference, those coming soon 360 digital titles are:

Burnout Revenge

Crackdown 2

Dragon Age 2

Fable Anniversary

Fight Night Round 4

Skate 2

The Xbox One sales suck, but I am tempted by a few of the 360 titles. I may gamble and hope for BC at some point.

Injustice $5

Soul Calibur 5 $3.75
Soul Calibur 2 $5
-Supposedly Future BC-
-Already BC-
I bought Tekken Tag Tournament 2 last time it was on sale for $5. That was BC briefly and hopefully it comes back. It played very well on the One.

They fixed it now.

Supposedly if you have Left 4 Dead 2 downloaded, you can still play it.

Patched now for new downloaders. If you were lucky enough to get it downloaded there is a way around the dreaded "do you own this game" screen.
1. start game
2. Dreaded dyotg screen
3. Hit "B"
4. Hit "A" to start game again
5. Black screen
6. 360 intro starts
7. Zombie slaying continues

I just got through reading about other Xbox Backwards Compatible titles that were downloadable. Apparently one of the Black Ops games was working and Uno. But one big one I was hoping for mentioned was Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

They were saying from your Xbox you could go to the achievements app and find games there.

Xbox app, go through your achievements, find tt2, go to info tab after selecting it, select launch game, store opens, select install.

Just read that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was yanked as well. But who knows there's probably other BC titles out there.

I saw this linked in the xbox backwards compatibility vote site. Could be fake but hopefully L4D2 makes its way over to backwards compatibility.

The source was a thread on the Xbox subreddit

I'm surprised no one here seems to care about playing Left 4 Dead 2 on their Xbox One. It's not an official BC title yet, but if you own it digitally, you can play it. It's been verified by several Redditors. I'm going to download it myself tonight.

  1. On your Xbox One, search for my gamertag: Apherix
  2. Go into my profile and look at following/followers.
  3. Find Left 4 Dead 2 and continue selecting it until it lets you download it.
  4. Download/Install.

For offline muliplayer, which is better Monopoly or furry plushophilia?

I loved Modern Warfare 1 and 2 but the previous games did little for me (although Call of Duty 2 wasn't too bad).

Knowing this, does anyone recommend the first Black Ops?

If you liked Call of Duty MW2, then you will probably like Black Ops. To me Black Ops 1 was the last decent Call of Duty game. The campaign was fun, but I remember it kind of being all over the place a bit. I had no issues finishing the game and played quite a bit of multiplayer.

I've bought MW3 & AW and really just didn't care for either multiplayer or campaigns. I'm done with Call of Duty unless they go back to WW2 or NAM or something. Titanfall all the way for future warfare, the multiplayer is extremely fun.
