General PC Problems Thread

19 April 2015 - 10:26 PM

I'm surprised there isn't on this site.

For one I had a hell of an afternoon trying to get a HP Photosmart 7520 to print. The other day I got it working on wireless, and when I used it again, the printer won't do a damn thing, even with upgraded drivers. If I turn the printer off to save energy, the computers note that the printer is offline!

What I found was a hotfix in the regedit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\ and add a new value SNMPLegacy and set it to 1. It got this 2014 printer to work, despite being a "legacy" fix.

Buying European Physical Copies of PC Games

18 April 2015 - 09:22 PM

I'm thinking about getting Arkham Asylum for the PC, but I've read that some people have problems with installing the games due to problems with the fact that it's the European version or something. Is this true or should I just wait for some Steam bundle?

Indiana Declares Health Emergency after Uptick of New HIV Cases

26 March 2015 - 10:58 PM

Indiana Governor Mike Pence has called for action regarding 80 new HIV cases in the state. Most of the cases are found in the south east region, Scott County, and are linked to improper needle usage.

I remember when people were getting pissy about the Health Department in NYC handing out flyers regarding heroin usage, ie properly throwing away the needles after use. While I'm not in favor of legalizing every drug, I do agree that there should be a policy in telling the people the risks, benefits, and background of any drug, whether it's skeet, marijuana, or viagra. It's better than some knobhead politician jingoistic rampage demonizing any illicit substance to a point where they become forbidden fruit. Knowing is half the battle, and propaganda does have a limit in its usefulness.
