Socialism and liberal programs have not been given a chance in this country and where they have they have either worked or been screwed over by Republican conservatism(see the post office and again SSI). A lot of idiotic anti-Vita hate in this thread lately. This thread is for discussion of Vita deals, not hate and trolling for the system. If you guys posting trash don't like it, how about just staying out of the thread? And if any of the haters actually own a Vita (doubtful), I suggest you sell it as soon as possible, then we don't need to hear your whiny complaints anymore.

Why exactly should anyone respect your request when you called us idiots, trolls and claimed we must not have the system and if we do should sell it? In a debate you should try to win friends not make enemies. And if you want someone to listen to your request it should be spoken with respect not disdain. In the past I would have never bothered posting anything off topic because soooo many people were like you, getting annoyed at any off topic post(especially if negative). If you look around now though this sites sub forums are fairly dead, thus everyone talks about systems/games in topics they should not. Welcome to the internet!

Anyways I am a big Sony fan. Ratchet and Clank, Infamous, Fat princess, Uncharted, my main man Sly Cooper! Sony makes both great games and gamers games(at a time many dont). That does not mean I have to be endlessly positive on Sony. They can be a stupid stupid stupid stuuuuuupid company, especially when it comes to hardware and pricing.

I may be misremembering but as I recall there were the mediocre launch games followed by a very long void of new releases. I think being hacked would be a good thing for the vita... I mean the psp basically made a living as a portable emulator.

I can not tell you how many people I knew that mainly had a PSP cause they could hack it to play free games and SNES titles.

I was influenced by memory card prices to not buy a Vita for over 2 years. I have a few friends who still have not gotten one in part because the overpriced Sony brand cards.

I still think the Vita memory card was one of Sony's dumbest moves ever. They should have dropped gyroscope and both touch screens and any other uselss secondary features  and put on board memory on the system/bundled a micro card. If they had done that and allowed any micro sd card to work I am still convinced the Vita could have done much much better. If they had further bit the bullet though and sold it for $200 with that on board memory, I think it could have rivaled the 3DS(especially with many of the bone head moves Nintendo made).

It blows my mind to this day that Sony did not learn pricing lessons from the PSP or PS3, they just went on making the same mistake.

I was watching a random Raw from 1997 last night because I was reminded of how "edgy" it was that Marc Mero called Tom Brandi/Sal Sincere a "jobber" on tv.

 

Things from that Raw:

- a bajillion more crowd signs, and a generally more 'riotous' crowd. Not literally, but a crowd who was clearly at a fever pitch for the show the entire night

- Hawk no-selling a piledriver and chokeslam from Kane

- Dude Love taking a solid, unprotected chair shot from Road Dogg in a random unpromoted Raw match

- "The artist formerly known as Goldust"

- Two countout finishes where the match never officially started (NWA Jeff Jarrett over Vader, Sal Sincere over Marc Mero)

- The retrospective realization that Sable's entrance music is unintentionally HILARIOUS

 

Say what you will about Reigns, but this shit was unbearable. It's fascinating to watch from two perspectives: (a) the "this is what I used to think was the high bar for RAW?!?!" feeling, and (b) the "godDAMN this crowd is off the charts" feeling.

 

It makes me think Raw is far better now - but 3 hours is just too much. My general level of "fuck this shit" relative to y'all seems to be a lot lower, on average. But that may be because I spend 60-70 minutes a week watching Raw on Tuesday mornings via Hulu. 3 hours never ever ever leaves you "wanting more." But going back to 2 hours will reduce WWE's ad revenue 33%, so that's a huge risk.

I do not know. I guess I look at old raw vs new raw this way. Yes the newer product is better filtered, edited, produced better just EVERYTHING. I can see why some people prefer it. But the issue is that all that polish is put on a turd. The wrestlers do not feel like they are being themsevles, the show generally feels scripted and you can guess weeks or even months in advance what RAWS story lines will be and who will win the matches.

Old raw may have had botches and people hitting each other with chairs and matches ending when they were not supposed to and arrogant wrestlers no selling moves. But that was part of RAWs charm. RAW was wild, wrestling was wild. From a title change, to a chair shot, to a wrestler breaking script the whole show was entertainment because it was wild and you never knew what was going to happen. RAW was raw and lets be honest its a huge reason why many of us watch it and our nostalgia still craves it.

As I said I get where people can prefer the new RAW. To me though I prefer the old less scripted RAW and I prefer not knowing what is going to happan months in advance. This is why I still think WCW needs to be looked at. WCW in its prime hit that sweat spot where they had scripted events but wrestlers were allowed to go off script and be themselves. Flair felt like Flair and Sting felt like Sting. Now they and stars who try to repeat their legacies and style generally come across as cartoon imitations of themselves or the greats.

Well, here's the question on that (I know my opinion on it, but I also know my own political/social views):

 

Do you present this transition from a babyface woman or a heel?

 

Do you try to present women as equal/capable/competent and therefore put a positive spin on it?

Or do you try to use "feminism" as a heel trait to get someone over that way and change the title at the same time?

If I had to pick a side I would say feminist babyface. The WWE has such a bad track record on minority/womens issues, they neeed the win.

I do not think though that they need to choose. Sasha is the first person in awhile that strikes me as having enough charisma to pull off something like Rock did. Even when he was a heel he was damn impossible for most people to not like. He balanced being a heel and a babyface and just felt like an entertainer, he felt like ego personified. Sasha again strikes me as having that perfect raw egotistical character that even though she is supposed to be a heel, will still come off with a lot of baby face. I think if they gave her the right storyline and let her character just be about ego for egos sake she could ride that line making the issue moot. Maybe I have too much faith in her though, to be fair I have only seen limited amounts of her in NXT. She just is the first person in awhile that strikes me as being the total package(and thats including the mens division).

BTW Mike you go on the 311 cruise yet? My wife and I were really jelous when I read that awhile back.

Cracks me up how much we see people here bitching that games are overpriced and not discounted enough yet games like Fallout, Undertale, and quite a few other big expensive/not discounted games get mentioned over and over as games to buy/being bought. Not trying to judge, its just a way CAG and deal hunters are constantly two faced. I mean even on steam at the community forums there are soooooo many complaints about the number of games under 50% off ......yet 11 of the best selling 16 games on sale are 50% or under.

Things don't change because as much as we humans love to bitch we love to contradict ourselves more.

My cousin is coming over to stay a week with my wife and I. She is in I think in the 6th grade and is apparently REALLY REALLY into Batman. My wife loves Batman so we already own all the Blu Rays to watch with her. However we know she has never played any bat man games at all. I know I own a few of the steam ones and have not got around to playing any of them except the first, so I figured maybe one of them. Just did not know if any were particulary stand out/age appropriate or if there is an older retro batman on the genesis or some other old system worth breaking out for her.

Steam is akin to WalMart during Black Friday.  Every year, Wal Mart knows that more people are going to visit their website in hopes of scoring a Black Friday deal or to avoid getting physically crushed at the store and the site fails every year.  Every Winter Sale, same with Steam, it still is screwed up.  Yes, I understand that I am whining about a problem that they will "fix" with a little time, but really?? why not upgrade servers, pre load some of the intel/sales, something to stabilize when you know darn well the onslaught of web visitors you will have during a sale?

I have been saying for the last 3 years or so that Valve needs to be ashamed of themselves and gamers should be angry.  The U.I for the website has gotten more cluttered, the que has not worked right in some time, they let steam cards and trading be ruined by data miners, they have not come up with any way to filter good and bad games or tailor search results/que, there are frequent complaints about customer service, they got rid of custom bundles during steam sale and each steam sale has been broken at launch.

I just do not get it. Valve had every gamer bowing knee screaming my liege how may I serve steam.....and they just walked away. Gamers love their games.....yet they put out so few and so spread apart. All they had to do was put out more of their own games and keep steam running well and with good deals and they somehow fucked it up. And for what? Steam Machines? A controller?

It will likely always be this way though and I am starting to wonder about their long term prospects. Valve is acting much like a company like Nintendo, they treat gamers like they will just always be loyal and like they(Valve)know best. That eventually bites you on the ass regardless of if its your base slowly walking away or running away in mass from one bad move. I am not predicting the death of steam yet, I mean we are soooooooo far from that. But I have pictured steam being an unstoppable juggernaut that is around and growing indefinitely. Now I can see a 20 year future where they are a minor player.....if they dont start making changes.

TNA I agree is dead. I dont see a way to turn that company around. I think that towards the end of the Aces and Eights story bit you could see the company starting to die. After AJ left it just was not the same.

RoH I am not sure I agree on. I still think if a few top guys like Bryan jumped to RoH and at the same time that company got a cash infusion, I could see them having a shot. Do not get me wrong I still think there would be like a 30% chance they ever reached anywhere near a WCW level competitor. Those are low odds but not so low I would not be excited to see those cards line up.

NXT, Raw, Smackdown...damn. That'd be alot of division's under one company to keep track of.

Or people could pick and choose which to watch. I think the concept of something like that scares the WWE but realistically its very modern.  With the rise in virtual services like netflix and the insane wealth of content today consumers are just getting used to entertainment catering to them. The WWE by comparison is a product that demands in almost every way you accept it as is.

Splintering the brands and giving each brand its own distinct appeal will allow the WWE to please everyone or as close to it as possible! NXT remains the fostering ground for young talent and a percolator for new ideas. Raw remains pretty much as is and thats a great place most nights to take the kids. You can dump a lot of big bulky guys that cant wrestle(Reins Ryback)and the talented high flyers(Neville, Zayn) on Raw and watch as they put on solid family friendly matches.  Smackdown becomes the home of trying something different. Let good mic workers like Bray Wyaat work of bullet points so people become more like WCW/Attitude Era WWE where personality reigned. If smackdown was more adult oriented guys like Kevin Owens and Lesnar could be unleashed to be the monsters(and monster draws)they are meant to be. And since Smackdown is targeted at adults/IWC and not kids try out having some matches that run longer.

Fans are split between too many factions. NXT can bridge the IWC and family crowd pretty well and Raw really still does pretty well with the family crowd. They just need to fill out their programming with something for IWC and I am convinced they can flourish again. It would also make cross brand promotions waaaaay more interesting if each brand functioned in such drastically different ways.

Aquaphor is what I use after tattoos as well. Apply it liberally for two to three days giving tattoo time to breath a few times a day with little to no Aquaphor. Also recognize getting a non color tattoo that if you get more of them at some point they start to look "dirty".  Its not an issue with a few but unlike color that pops the more non colored tattoos you get the more they each stop standing out and instead of blending together into beautiful color just turn into a big ugly black inky mess. Soooo far from an issue for you right now, but good to keep in mind if after getting one tattoo you end up wanting more.
