#14276411 Steam+ Deals Mega Thread (All PC Gaming Deals)

Right now is one of the worst times in history to spend a good amount of money on an enthusiast grade graphics card.  There's going to be a giant leap forward when the RTX 3000 series comes out and the high-end cards are going to instantly lose about 40-50% of their value.

Save $500-700 till the end of the year if you're in the market for something high-end.  They are likely to become available around September, give or take a month.

Thanks, good to know. I have a GTX 1060 stuffed into an 8-year-old pre-built Dell computer. I've finally reached the point where the motherboard is making future upgrades more difficult. I'm trying to migrate over from consoles, so now that the 1060 has given me a decent taste of PC gaming, I'd like to build an actual "gaming PC" that's futureproofed a bit more.

My time spent in quarantine due to work at home orders has sparked a heavy interest in building a new PC. I'd say it's justified.

Those of you still getting into Doom Eternal, some tips:

1. Use your upgrade shards to expand ammo, at least 3/4 of the way, if not fully upgraded. You'll need it for number 2.

2. Once you get the Super Shotgun, upgrade it. Immediately. When fully upgraded, it provides health and ammo for kills. It eats ammo quickly, but using the chainsaw when you're low works just fine.

3. Focus on upgrading your grenades, too, with the suit tokens. The first one should be giving you two grenades before they recharge. Fully upgraded grenades clean house and stagger enemies they don't kill.

4. In general, mastering weapon mods is to your benefit, and the game is pretty generous with the upgrade points as long as you spend them wisely.

5. Much like Ori, exploration is rewarded, and the map marks all the secrets as you come within a few feet of them. The game wants you to find them, it's often a matter of finding the secret entrance or how to scale a structure that provides the challenge. If you don't collect crystals / batteries / suit tokens / mod upgrades / etc. you'll be worse for it. Check your map often.

I fell into a rhythm last night with the Super Shotgun and finished a Slayer Gate I assumed would just demolish me. Now my biggest concern is not playing for a week and forgetting how to do all this shit.

I used my upgrade shards to complete the Exploration category right off the bat because I hate backtracking for collectibles. Maybe that's why I'm getting my ass kicked so badly on Hurt Me Plenty.

Considering it's a gamepass release I definitely don't think it'll be DOA. My friends and I played the beta. I thought it was okay, but my friends absolutely loved it. I know they're super excited to get back on it. I'll be playing too though not likely as much as them

Thanks. I actually didn't realize it was a Game Pass game, I'm sure that'll help with the population a bit.

FWIW I really liked Metagal. You can get all the achievements in the first 5 minutes, and yet I still felt compelled to actually finish the game.

Woohoo, saw that single piece of Jurassic World Evolution DLC in Bloomy's list and it gave me hope the rest would pop up. Looks like everything except the new "Return to Jurassic Park" DLC is on sale:

Oh yeah...

Forgot to recommend this as a new classic Christmas movie for the kids:

On the subject of Christmas horror, I discovered this gem this year and I loved it. I watched it twice.

Someone needs to send Ahnuld back in time to stop the recent Terminator game crossovers, so we don't have movie arguments in our game sales thread.

Being an adult sounded so awesome when I was a kid, it's like I could do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. LMAO what a joke that was...

It's the biggest reason I don't do many multiplayer games, especially Fortnite or anything battle royale. By the time it takes to "get gud" by repeatedly playing the same matches over and over again, I could have knocked out several story-driven single player games out of my backlog. Even when a friend asks me to log in and drive around aimlessly in GTA online for the billionth time, I think about that one hour of gaming time for the day and how it could be invested in making progress in a single game instead.

Though, truth be told, I'll boot up that single player game and fall asleep at the main menu anyway.

I was just thinking "I should finally boot up Plants vs Zombies GW 2 for the first time before they announce a sequel," but I guess they already did. And it's available to play now in early access. And didn't a new Gears just come out? And a Borderlands game is coming out soon? And a Monster Hunter expansion, which reminded me I should finish the tutorial in the base game? And I'm finally playing through Destiny 2 Forsaken since that has a new thing coming out.

Being an adult sucks.

FF7 doesn't run very smoothly. It's very choppy-looking, a rushed port most likely.

However, it is FF7 on an Xbox platform, it's playable, and the music gives me nostalgia-goosebumps more than any other game on the planet. Worth every penny and more.

Hey is Comix Zone any good? $2.49 is pretty cheap ass

An absolute classic and one of my favorite Genesis games that I still return to today. It's also included in the Sega Genesis Collection, so that's something to keep in mind if you can ever see yourself picking that up. Achievements would be the only reason I could see for getting the BC XBLA version vs the Sega Genesis Collection, as I think the latter only has one Comix Zone-related achievement.

The question for some people would be should they get Celeste on Xbox or switch?

I almost want to say Xbox for compatibility. But there has to be some ganes that are better hand held

Unless it's only like a dollar or something, I'd vote the Xbox version in every game scenario. Though I own a Switch and love it, I don't trust Nintendo anymore, they may suddenly announce tomorrow that they're done with the Switch and announce a new game thing with no backwards compatibility. Xbox games feel like a better investment; I use my Switch for exclusives.

Lumines is my exception. I bought it on both. Pre-ordered on Xbox but got it on Switch too because Lumines was meant to be portable.

Strangely enough, I got my level 2 MS Rewards points from pre-ordering RDR2 Ultimate before I was actually charged for the game. Redeemed it for MS credit and applied it towards the game itself. No complaints.

Grabbed L.A. Noire. Thoughts on kerbal and Romancing Saga?

Kerbal confused the living hell out of me on PC. I also can't imagine trying to navigate through the game with a controller.

I also have a very short attention span and from what I hear, the game is great, but with a very, very high learning curve.

This applies to probably an extremely narrow group of people that probably won't see this, but does anyone here ever buy games on Xbox.com with Paypal Credit? I use it when I'm between checks saving up for something and a sale hits. Suddenly, even though I'm selecting Paypal Credit when I check out, Paypal uses my bank account to pay for the game. This only seems to be an issue on Xbox.com since I can use it anywhere else. I went ahead and cancelled my game pre-orders until I get it figured out.

I haven't tried using it on my Xbox, I'll try that later tonight with something cheap, like a Rock Band song or something. I know there's been times where I select Paypal on my Xbox and end up using Paypal Credit by accident because I forgot it was set up as my default Paypal paying method.
