hmm... I have donkey kong on pre order at newegg because of a promo but if msrp is cheaper than the price newegg was charging with the promo, I wonder how newegg will handle it.

The last time an MSRP drop like this happened, with Animal Crossing, Newegg never changed their pricing to reflect the change until after the game was released. I got in on the same promo, so I'd love for them to drop the price, but I'm not holding my breath.

 
Nintendo announced that both games official prices are $49.99. 

Lets see if us CAGers can get these games for $40 or even $45.

I was wondering the same. I have it currently at newegg for $52.99 free ship no tax. Even if they don't lower the price though I'm sorta stuck because Amazon started charging me tax in Texas so I'd be paying $54 unless there's a promo with it, same for anywhere else. So sadly $52.99 may still be the cheapest for me. I may be better off trying to get a used copy for around $40-$45 if Newegg won't lower the price.

isn't that a bad sign for the quality if a brand new donkey kong game is not even full price?

I understand zelda $50 because it's a remake..

Retro has not made a bad game yet so I don't think so. I believe it costs less to develop because it's side scrolling 3d vs open world. Also DKC Returns just released on 3DS a few months ago could also be the reason.

 
All side scrollers should be digital downloads and be priced accordingly by this point in gaming history. Nintendo does physical disc for the Wii and Wii U b/c of there poor library and lack of 3rd party support, sad.

For those that like digital that may be correct. I strongly prefer disc games and I'm far from alone.

 
Man, the title sure indicates both games for $50. lol Should put "each" after the price or change the "&" to "or".

Thanks OP. Cancelled my newegg preorder for $53 and preorderd on Amazon for $50.

I'm not waiting for this game to go $10 bucks cheaper. For me this is like the system selling franchise now over Zelda. Huge fan of  the DKC series and Retro is the best Nintendo Developer hands down.

Not sure why a genre should be reduced to digital only. If it's budgeted and developed for a retail game, it should also be sold at retail too. Options are good
