PlayStation 4 Pre-Order Thread *GREATNESS OUT NOW!*

Guys some people do actually buy tons of extra consoles to over-sell or give to family members. I know one of my friends has already pre-order 5 PS4 from different stores and plans to over sell them to make money on Ebay and Craigslist . I kinda feel bad for the people who just want to play games and enjoy the console themselves and don't actually get one.
I dont theyve had months to preorder.

if someone could afford to buy 30-40 systems why would he even waste his time making extra couple hundred bucks.
I'm aiming at a much higher profit margin but I'll entertain your guess of, "...couple hundred bucks."

30 x $200 = $6,000 ROI; initial investment of $12,720... 47% return... 10-14 days. Please explain to me how that is a waste of time? :whistle2:k

Gentlemen, if you can conceive flipping 3 systems then I challenge you to stretch your imagination and add a zero.

These things will be readily available. Enough will be made to meet demand. You won't make any money flipping. You will fail miserably and I will laugh my ass off.

My reply to this type of stance is always the same but this time around I'm going to play along. Please share with everyone this vast knowledge you have or uncanny foresight you possess to foresee this abundance of consoles that will meet demand. Surely you're not assuming as you disregard the history of prior gaming launches. Please go right ahead... the floor is yours.

then he'll come back and laugh and say the jokes on you for believing it.
Nope! I've been open and honest thus far. There's a chance for success and a chance for failure. As always I try to maximize one while defending myself from the other. I'll share my results no matter what.

Going off of the write-up Nikkei had a while back, it seems like Sony was out in front and starting having all the components delivered for assembly a while ago. There are retail units out now, and Nikkei estimated they could be assembling over 1M/mo.

Combined with the simple die/generous yeild probability of the processor(s) compared to the ESRAM design or CELL BBE, and less specialized overall hardware architecture compared to previous generations, I don't forsee they supply constraints being as severe as they were the previous generation.

i'm pretty sure if anyone here was told about a STOCK with the potential to double or triple, and that downside was limited because if it didn't double or triple in 30 days you could sell the stock back for what you paid, people would be jumping all over it to buy as much as they could.

Flipping consoles has unlimited upside and zero downside apart from occasionally eating a shipping cost.  That's why people do it.

If you seriously paid $900 to secure systems + $30 shipping per console and the demand is not there you stand to lose a lot of money. There were ways you could have secured that amount of consoles with NO financial risk. This is not your best move. Also, out of the last 4 console releases only 2 were profitable. Wii and 360 (unless you sold your PS3 the first day). PS3 and Wii U were busts. You may make a ton of money, but based on the amount of preorders available, the fact that they keep making MORE available, and the statements coming from Sony( not so much Microsoft), this may not be a good flipping year.

Amazon screwed up my PS4 pre-order (long story, but at least I got over $200 store credit due to their mistake). Anyway, the customer service person I was speaking to said that they were going to start taking orders again first/second week of October.

Time to stack up on Kindle gift cards from BestBuy. Thanks.

I think it's a mistake. Compare it to this one, which has the camera for the exact same price:

http://www.target.com/p/playstation-4-with-call-of-duty-ghosts-and-2-dual-shock-controllers-camera-playstation-4/-/A-14793686#prodSlot=medium_1_31&term=ps4

They either accidentally created a whole new bundle and left out the camera, or the bundle that doesn't have a camera was mistakenly priced as the one with a camera.

The $900 won't be paid until 11/14. $30 shipping per console is the only remaining upfront cost to ship the consoles as I sell them on eBay. I'm waiting on some detail info that will help me gauge the market and odds of success before making the investment. Please share or inbox me on how I could've secured 30+ consoles without any risk? The route I chose won't cost me a dime until 11/14 9pm EST. Another way of looking at it; I have an OPTION, with an intrinsic value of $900, to purchase 30-35 consoles. If I exercise the OPTION it will cost me $900 plus cost of the consoles. If I decide to pass on the PS4 I can let the OPTION expire worthless with zero cost to me.

We wont see shortages. The problem with the PS3 was that it launched on November 17, 2006. The PS3 did not see its second shipment until 2 weeks later. I remember being in line at blackfriday on November 24, to pick up a 360 and the guy came and said they only had Wii's and 360 and no PS3. Its beyond me how SONY did NOT have any units for Black Friday which was a week after launch.

Im pretty sure we will see something similar to what Nintendo did, shipments every 2 days. Not once every 2 weeks....

Yeah I called them and they said they will investigate it within 5-10 business days. But my aunt order this one at this price is target like amazon where you get the lowest price when you order before it ships or do you have to call and get it changed?

it don't auto change like amazon

Yup i'm excited to get mine from walmart. Paying the rest of the layway off today.

However if someone is willing to pay $600 + for it on the 15th i'll probably sell it and buy one when they're readily available, consider the extra $150 (including tax) as free Killzone and Driveclub.

definetly wouldn't do ebay. I see chargeback rates being very high on these kind of things.. I'd want cash on craigslist in person in a safe place.

Yes, Amazon did cancel my pre-order. I contact customer service to ask if I could CHANGE from one launch bundle to another (same prices) because I wanted a different game. I put in all caps at the start of my first email to them. DO NOT CANCEL MY ORDER. So, 2 hours later I get a response saying "Thank you for contacting us, the system does not allow us to make changes to your pre-order, so I've gone ahead and cancelled your order".

WOW! Seriously?

Got customer service on the phone and they apologized a million times, gave me $260 store credit as compensation and said they expected to take more orders first/second week of October, but couldn't reinstate my pre-order for some reason. Thats fine, i'll take the cash. I don't think there will be a huge shortage.

Most retailers including my company have been told by Sony that we should not expect giant shortage on these systems.
What company do you work for and please clarify "giant shortage" because a normal size shortage will suit me just fine. I'd prefer a 10-14 day shortage. With a window of such, there's no inventory at the central distribution facility which means employees will tell customers they $$DON't kNOW$$ when they'll have more stock. BOOM... I'm in there like swim wear! :D/

That's the spirit mate! Congrats on paying off your console.

$260... NICE! They "expect" to take more orders is a forecast at best. Don't you think it's kinda odd that they canceled your order but couldn't restore it after you called? Are they guaranteeing everyone's order will ship on 11/15 or will they fill the orders as stock comes in?

My advice: pre-order from Target http://www.target.com/p/playstation-4-with-call-of-duty-ghosts-and-2-dual-shock-controllers-bundle-playstation-4/-/A-14887506#prodSlot=medium_1_29 and use the $260 to get other games and accessories. The moment you place the new pre-order you'll feel much better about the unfortunate Amazon incident. If the Target bundle is out of your price range then consider selling your newly acquired Amazon credit.

I would wait until they fix that target bundle because right now it is priced with the play station eye but it doesn't include it so it is 60 dollars over priced.

Does anyone know where I can still preorder a PS4 without paying more than $399.99 (excluding taxes+ shipping) for the device?

You can place the order now. They will either add the camera or adjust the price later. Regardless you can always get the adjustment in the form of a refund at a local store.

Noobie Question : But does the PS4 controller charges itself or do I have to buy a extra accessory like the wired usb cable? And How long do the batteries usually last during gameplay?

Yeah I think they will lower it since it has a special picture with no camera. It is good to reserve it hopefully it is not a hassle to get the price changed if you already ordered it.

The controller's gotta be plugged in to charge. The console comes with a charging cable, but it is just a regular Micro USB to USB standard Type A, like most cellphones use. You could get more cables like that anywhere, or online at a site like Monoprice.

New to the PS4 is the ability for it to charge a controller while the console is off. You could also charge the controller by connecting it to any USB port on your computer; I often did that with my old PS3 SIXAXIS controllers.

People should call target and inform them of this pricing mistake. I called they said they will investigate it but if they get a few calls it might help it a lot more.

I'd try your local target. Mine still has half of their preorder cards, and the next closest still had all of theirs last I looked. I live in a pretty active gaming area, so it can't hurt if you have one close by. We make frequent trips to Target, so I check every time we are there. Out of 5 XB1 cards, only one was gone as of yesterday.

I don't think those cards actually guarantee you a ps4 do they? Are you talking about the 5 dollar cards?

They're $25, and while the $25 does not go towards your purchase price (you get a $25 gift card upon picking up your PS4), according to the cards they do basically guarantee you one. They hold the console for a number of days until you pick it up. If you don't pick it up by that time, it is forfeit.

O kk thats cool I remember someone on here saying the 5 dollar game ones say on the card that they do not guarantee you the game on release day. But if the 25 dollar console ones do then that is nice.

If you have the option still, then yes you are in a better position. I also thought you were being charged $30 per console just to get them shipped to you. This would majorly eat into your profits. So you are in an okay position, as long as the profit margin stays pretty high.

If you sell 30 consoles at a $250 "profit" each, you will be paying EBay/paypal about 12% of the total (keep in mind that depending on your EBay status, you'll only be able to sell a small amount at a time). You're also paying for shipping and $30 fee per console so your profit could be (if you are avoiding tax on buying consoles) around $100 per console. This is of course banking on the $250 profit.

Meh, I am debating if I should cancel my pre-order for PS4. I have too big of a backlog and I have worries about that launch console woes. This would be my first real launch and I don't know if I should follow through with it or wait.

Let's continue this enticing convo here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/319402-the-official-ps4-xbox-one-ebayscalping-thread/

Microsoft's attempt to be the all-purpose home entertainment device has proven to be their downfall. "Jack of all trades... master of none." Sadly they have been back peddling since the official announcement. Hands down PS4 is the better system for hardcore gamers.

best version of watch dogs will be pc enough said. But i really could care less about this anymore of course ps4/xbox fan boys will fight over this garbage in the end it all matters about the games. it really don't matter if watch dogs runs better on ps4/x1/pc or what ever system it's on if the game sucks it sucks. I was hyped about watch dogs but more i see of this thing is that its just a reskin of a. creed games.
