Xbox One Console Thread (Console is currently in stock as of 12/3 at Amazon)

I powered the console up. Got the controller to connect. It asks me to press "A" which I did and now I've been staring at the same thing for the past 5 minutes. Just a pulsating ring still asking me to press "A"

I just checked the Target store locator for my area and just about every Target has Xbox Ones in stock except for 1 location.  I wonder how accurate the store locator is?

 
FedEx just dropped off my system. Opened it up and the top right corner is completely smashed in as if someone had dropped it. It must have left the warehouse that way as the box it was in was fine. Hopefully everything works.

 
My local Best Buy, where I just did some trades, sold out of their last Xbox Ones around 1:15 p.m. today.  No idea on how many they had though.  (Yesterday they said they had more available for sale than they did for PS4, which was 59.)

 
Still waiting on UPS. Even worse, in the middle of the day our furnace quits putting out heat. So now, I'm waiting for the furnace guy to show up and give me a bill before I open this thing up. Last thing I need is a X1 if I have to buy a $5k plus furnace. yuck.

 
The good news is now that the bone is here, maybe he'll disappear.  It will probably be because he needs medical treatment for sexually assaulting an electronic device, but none the less he will be gone.

 
forza five take close to 40 mins to install :/ could only imagaing how long it will take when games get even more complex longer this gen goes.

i guess it don't help when i put game in it said it had a 6 gb update lol

@ sp00ge - That label looks like it'll give you problems in the future which sucks. Knowing how Microsoft is they'll tell you its voided. I'd see about getting a replacement.

From what developers have said, the actual file size will shrink, new technology they don't know how to compress the game yet and keep all the features. For instance, Killzone was said to be between 80-120 gbs until they compressed it to the 50 GB it is now. Over time they get better at doing that and be able to be more in the 20 GB's of range.

 
Uploading more pictures now.  I'll catch up on the posts later on when donating plasma.  It updated in three minutes or so and I'm just about to "Begin sensor setup".

well i hope so lol i wanted to install all my games today and taking close to two hours

 
Forza 5 also had a 6+ gig update, so you have to factor that when "installing" the game. I wish MS went the same route with updates IE you play the game and it says downloading updates, not counting the disc install feature and updates the same for "time to install" because It's confusing the shit out of people

 
Just got mine from ups. Only complaint so far is the controller is smaller than the 360 which was already small. Early pictures of the controller made it seem like it was going to be bigger.

Call them when you get it, explain calmly how maybe you took the day off for it, and blah, blah, blah... Someone in the PS4 thread had this happened to them, they ended up with a free game for the inconvinence...

KZ: SF is 50 GB but I was able to play it after 30 second install (probably less)

Holy crud he did bet that and even backed it up and said he would! Someone needs to find that post!!! NOW!

 
Tonight I am just going to setup my 360 on a different HDMI port and play that while I wait for the XB1 games to install since you can be logged in on both consoles at once.  I think jumping in and playing Froza while it was installing made it take even longer, that 6gb update probably didn't speed things up either.

Weird. My tracking finally updated, but says it isn't being delivered until next Wednesday. Not sure why they apparently sat on it for two days. My hope was that it got to UPS early so I could have it today. Oh well, at least I'll have it before the holiday.

All setup and signed in and ready to go.  The Kinect sees more of my ceiling than lower area so it sees me from the stomach up.  If it's an issue I could easily put it in a better spot for that, but I love where I have it now.  It looks like a part of the TV, just like I planned.  I got some Velcro sticky on one part of it and some double-sided tape on the front part oft the bottom.  It's pretty heavy so it could have just sat without the tape but I wanted to be sure it was secure.

 
woot! My Xbox finally arrived just a few minutes after the furnace guy...

I haven't opened the box yet, waiting for the damage from the repair guy first. However, MS used zero packing material....

I was able to go $200 over MSRP on PS4's and get sales. Started lower for One b/c I figure there's an upper bound on what people will pay for new tech and the higher MSRP eats into that.

No interest at $150 over MSRP. Some at $100-125 but buyers fell through. Lots of contacts looking for $50-75 over MSRP, though. Still better than returning, but not paying for the consoles I'm keeping as anticipated.

One's been a bit disappointing on non-resale front too. Haven't used it much, but it kept logging my wife in as she walked around the house. And it was recognizing feet as hands when we put feet up on ottoman and watch netflix. We "foot paused" several times. That may work better in the day/with lights on, but it was a huge pain as we tried to watch Skyfall last night :whistle2:(
 
My NAT was open to begin with.  Going through all the settings and stuff now.  Can you do other things while games install?  

 
Just got mine set up and went through all of the intro stuff, looking around the menus and stuff I love it so far, this is really awesome. Can't wait to try out a bunch of the features :D Installing Battlefield currently and browsing the dashboard

 
Really loving the console so far :) Have been playing with it for ~3 hours or so. The Kinect voice commands are actually pretty neat and they work well - I haven't had any problems speaking at normal volume 8 feet away :D

Game DVR function is neat to upload clips. Quality seems to be 480, but that's fine. Dead Rising is a blast so far :)

 
Stopped by Target and Walmart both had XBone left right before lunch time.

At Walmart the rechargeable battery with cable came up for $19.96 (normally 24.99) for those needed it.
