Hi guys i buy a ps3 last week and im new in ps3 world i have some questions

if i buy a ps3 battlefield code from amazon i can get the 9.99 upgrade option for ps4?

and i can buy games from other region without ban problems

thank you
Yes, I bought a code for the PS3 version from Amazon and did the upgrade without issue.

Yeah, just create a new user and PSN account for that region and you're free to buy what you want from there, provided you have PSN credit in that region's currency to pay for it. You can even look up video guides on Youtube for probably any region out there.

I know these are two completely different games, but I have Kingdoms of Amalur - Reckoning (thanks PS+) that I've been meaning to play. Am I better off playing that, or giving FFIV a try (at the current price)? I'm not really into MMO's (b/c of sub fees), but for 30 days, that's about how long I play most games these days.
Have you played FFXII and if so, did you like it? That game basically has the same combat system as FFXI minus the MP aspect to it and FFXIV is mostly the same as that, so that would be a better way to know if it's up your alley.

Thanks for the tips. As tempting as this is, it seems like I should probably just wait for a cheap price on a physical copy. GameStop will probably drop it to $10 within a year.
Ni No Kuni is currently $14.99 at BBY and if you're unlocked its another $3 off. Surely someone's mentioned that somewhere in this thread, but I didn't see it and thought it worth mentioning again.

I didn't think any of the bosses were too bad as I agree they get easier as you play them a few times. Currently with the last level I've yet to get to the boss. I think I was close a handful of times but they upped the ante in the last stage. Yeah I don't think I'd be into the Bullet Hell games, I always stayed away from them. I feel like with Resogun I at least have a chance of seeing what killed me...lol.
When I first started playing Resogun I was getting my ass handed to me because I kept forgetting about my boost and overdrive. Once you get the hang of using those (especially your boost) the game isn't so bad. The trophies could have actually been a lot tougher but they took it easy on us. The Nemesis ship makes it pretty easy with homing missiles and almost unlimited boost.

How was it? I've been told by one person that it was quite a bit better than TWD, so would like a 2nd opinion.
I'd agree with the Frisky, I liked episode one of this better than episode 1 of TWD. It does have some of the same issues TWD did, but Episode 1 was fantastic, I hope they can keep it up through the whole series.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/12/04/zen-pinball-2-coming-to-ps4-on-december-17th/

Zen Pinball 2 will be out on PS4 on December 17. Much like on PS3 and Vita, it's free to download as a platform with Sorcerer's Lair being completely free to play as much as you want, so you get a full table to play before having to buy anything. It's also Cross Buy with any of these tables that you've purchased, though these are the only tables/packs that they're bringing over to the PS4:

  • Star Wars Pinball
  • Star Wars Pinball: Balance of the Force
  • Marvel Pinball
  • Marvel Pinball:Avengers Chronicles
  • Marvel’s Doctor Strange
  • Plants vs. Zombies Pinball
  • Epic Quest
  • Paranormal
  • Earth Defense
Marvel's Doctor Strange is also launching on 12/17 for $2.99 for all three versions, though they're suggesting to buy it on PS3 first to ensure that you get it on all three versions. If it's like the PS3/Vita versions, the trophies are separate for each platform. It's weird that they were supposedly only allowed to bring 20 tables over to this version of the game.

Quick question, I have a retail copy of FFXIV that I haven't installed yet (mainly waiting for time to devote a good chunk of time to an MMO just so I feel that I can get my $ worth) and I'm curious if buying the digital game at the discount would add an extra month to the subscription or not (more interested in grabbing the collector's edition for $15).

I was able to do this with the collectors edition and standard editions of SWTOR last year. I'm guessing no, but has anyone tried or know for sure?
I'm not sure if it'll work if you have a retail copy of the PS3 version, but I read on GAF that it should add 30 days if you have an existing PC account. The added bonus apparently is that you can upgrade your PS3 version to PS4 for free when that comes out.

Literally none of the tables I actually possess and enjoy are being ported over. Where's Tesla or Mars?

Eh, can't really complain. I can always play them on the PS3 or Vita

Guys, I'm going to say something that's going to blow your fricken minds.

I was wrong about Demon's Souls. It's actually a pretty fun game.
I didn't know you didn't like the game.

I beat the first boss. Couldn't get past a fire breathing dragon on a bridge in the 2nd level, so I quit. Game didn't do anything for me.

Demon's Souls is easily one of my top 5 favorite games of all time.  Demon's Souls and Valkyria Chronicles were the main reason I bought a PS3.

Demon's Souls is not a hard game if you learn from your mistakes.

I don't know if you're serious or if you've forgotten the great Demon's Souls debate. I said the game sucked, Admiralvic said I only hate it because it's hard, I said it's not hard, Jay said that opinions are stupid. A bunch of other people got involved, we hugged it out and then had the same argument about Spelunker HD being awful (not the sequel, Spelunky...that game's awesome.)

They were dirty, that should be obvious. Finally got around to removing the stickers from all the games I acquired over the summer, then figured I may as well make sure all the gunk and dirt are off them, then I figured I may as well do all of them.

and dressing them up with mini shirts and cargo shorts.
Nah, just normal size clothes when I reassemble my wife.

I see tek finally figured out how to pause in Demon's Souls.
There's no pause button. I'd copy and paste my Google search but I don't want to steal your thunder. Zing!

:grouphug:

But I've already platted Demon's Souls. I know how to play the game. I'm now working on the EU version. Maybe I'll go for the triple.

I remember there was a huge debate and I remember how big a hard-on Jay has for it. I didn't realize you were on the other side of the debate though.

I actually prefer the original Spelunky over the sequel.

On the surface, the Souls games are just about dying and retrying 100 times.

It's kind of like an onion. That outer layer is bitter tasting, and even makes you cry a little. But then you start peeling back the layers of that onion and the insides make you cry even more. And you eat that whole fucking onion no matter how much you're crying and how bad the taste is in your mouth. Then you stand proud and say "Yeah that was hard...but I just ate the whole god damn onion."

Then you post on message boards about how onions are the greatest vegetable of all time.

I fuckin love onions.
They are pretty great. I mean, do you realize how many ways you can cook an onion and make it delicious? Then when you include those fried onion straws it's not even fair to other vegetables.

To me an onion and Dark/Demon Souls are much the same and both are best when you're naked.

Quick question re: Borderlands 2 when eventually goes Free on PS+... My bought the GotY over BF, wants someone to play with... Can I install the DLC from his GotY disc and have the DLC as well, or does the GotY disc need to be in order for the installed DLC to work?

Not a big deal either way, dunno if I'll even like the game.

If it installs off the disc it will probably work fine, most that are set up that way do.

You people just made me re-download Demon's Souls after I deleted it awhile ago to make room for other shit because I hadn't played it yet. I hope you're proud of yourselves.

Very much so. Now enjoy it's onionliscious flavor while your cry.

Not to get off topic but anyone have any thoughts on this 1TB HGST HDD for the PS4? I'm not seeing anything wrong with it and HGST is what Sony picked for the OEM drive and is a subsidiary of WD now. It's one of the few 2.5in drives that's 7200RPM and in the same price range as the 5400RPM drives. I think the consistent speed increase across the whole drive is going to be more beneficial than a speed boost to a very small segment of the drive (and higher cost) from a hybrid. Reviews are good, specs look right, it's the right size but maybe I'm missing something through all the onion tears.

The reason why Demon's Souls is great is because it starts you off below the bottom rung of the ladder. You are not some great, well known hero trying to turn the tide on an invading army of evil, you are a random dude (or gal) who enters a land nearly completely ravaged by evil. In this once vast and great continent barely 30 people remain, everyone else has either been killed, given up, or surrendered to darker impulses and become a Demon. That your first experience in the game is being owned and put to death tells you all you need to know about the harshness of the land. Your journey reflects that, you start out weak and barely together, but if you can hang in there you can crawl your way up to become more powerful and prevent Boletara from turning into dust. The experience of progressing from weakling to badass is immensely satisfying.

If you need to pause, save and quit, the only time it won't take you back to exactly where you were when you boot it back up is if you quit in a boss battle.

If you got stuck on the dragon there were 4 others levels you could play, that's the order of progression of difficulty. The first levels of each world are approximately the same difficulty, same with the second levels, the third levels, and that would leave the 4th level in world 1 for last.

Just asking in case somebody has more success than I did, but when will the Magma Red DS4s release in the states. Itching for one of those, so I can hook up my black one to my PS3 to play the compatible games with it.

Don't think they've given any specifics yet for NA. You can't blame them though with how preoccupied they've been with launching the OnionStation 4 and trying to win the next gen onion wars.

Not a direct comparison, but I put the 1TB HGST Travelstar 7k1000 in the ps3 (not PS4). It's been in there 2 months now with no problems. Upgraded from a 500GB WD Black, and no hiccups - both were 7200RPM, and both have served well. I'm assuming the PS4 can take better advantage of the SATA speeds; there's some wasted potential on the ps3 I believe.

Good luck, and report back if you make the leap, as any future PS4 in my life will probably go this route vs SSD.

As much as an SSD speeds up load times I just can't see it being worth the high cost. Between the $5 off $35 Facebook promo and another promo credit from something they lost it would work out to like $30. I just can't figure out what if any difference there is between the one I linked and the 7K1000 that you mentioned. The specs I can find make them appear to be the same but different model numbers.

Has psn forced anyone else to change their password?
A time traveler from last week!
I don't think so, Elds. I also received an email today, even though no messages were sent to me last time.

Either they're sending emails on batches or it happened again, this time, to different people.

Perhaps it has something to do with this? It doesn't mention Sony, but the email I use for PSN is a Gmail, so maybe Sony is playing it safe and resetting accounts with emails whose passwords could've been compromised?

I should mention that I received no alert from Google whatsoever, so it could have nothing to do with that. It's just a guess.
