This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Yes I have. I quickly got the: "Thank you for contacting Artery Studios regarding Secret of the Magic Crystals. Please bear with us until we get back to you."

But About 8 hours later I got my steam key from a different email (Tamas Bako).
Same here. I got an immediate auto-reply asking for patience followed up by my key maybe 6hrs or so later.

Stupid question time: Do the values of de-listed games go down or up?

Looking at my Inventory, I'm annoyed with the titles that don't have logos (Homefront and Cryostasis). Then I realized they are no longer sold on Steam at all.
yup it goes up dirt and codemaster pack it goes up like 100 to beyond that how madness. so price ur price higher to gete money bc u can get it for life posible if it good game if avg u prolyl get some suckers (homefront to snakey bro he needs it hehyh )

Oooh, just noticed Day One: Gary's Incident is $5....hidden gem...if gems are turds... still hard to resist.

Delisted games go up in value.
Thanks for the answer.

But most importantly of all, Hoarder*'s analysis: "No pretty picture?!?"

*veteran CAG, owns... a lot.
And I must have a pretty picture - for reasons even I don't understand.

If I could always have the no-logo games in the back of my Inventory - next to frivolous cards & coupons - I'd be utterly fine with 'em. But the no-logos are on Inventory page 1. "Noooo" LoL.

If the game in question is OutRun 2006 Coast 2 Coast, that game is worth nothing so you should just give it to me.

Can someone please post a proper link to Amazon's Editor Choice games? Have these not been revealed? Everytime I click on the promotion link nothing comes up.

I may just buy FFVII if I can get the $5 promotion towards another game. Though it looks dated as hell and I probably won't touch it  .
Something Tony posted a week or two ago led me to believe that they won't announce the games until early January.

Nation Red is $1.49 (85% off) on Steam. I see a bunch of folks here already own it and have no idea if it's crap or not (since the two aren't especially related around here ;) )
Nation Red is pretty good. Somewhat generic, but quite solid.

Just finished playing Demon's Souls...great game.

I always have trouble deciding what to play next, so I thought to put it up to a vote:

1) Elder Scrolls Morrowind

2) Half Life 1

3) Call of Chthulu

4) Far Cry 3

5) S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 1

You just played a RPG - so, I'mma pick something else.

A linear FPS.

I'm voting for...

2) Half-Life 1.

Nation Red is an awesome game. I have a ton of hours in it. It's really addictive with the power ups and star levels.
I can also vouch for this game, it's really enjoyable, especially if you like shmups. Hell, I usually don't like shmups but I still had a lot of fun with this one.

FC3 or Stalker SoC. Stalker is harder and more constant low key struggle; FC3 is brighter, more narrative driven (cut scenes, etc) and probably "funner" in a "woohoo!" sort of way.

Morrowind might be awesome but I'm shallow and can't get past how ass-ugly it looks. I never played HL1 but HL2 bored the crap out of me. I own CoC but never played it.

I never played CoC: Dark Corners.

Hell - I don't even own it, oddly enough.

Got a notification from steam earlier saying you were playing magicka. Wtf is up with that, ESE? I vote half life cuz its fairly short. Then lose yourself in morrowind.

Why was the game I bought you for Christmas not a choice? fucker!!

What's so compelling about Morroblivion, though? How does it compare to a heavily-modded out Morrowind? I'm sure Morroblivion isn't compatible with many Oblivion mods, right? I mean, I'm not really interested regardless because I've sunk hundreds of hours into Morrowind alone but I'm wondering why multiple people have suggested it. I tried it earlier on and it was a mess, but I also don't think the Oblivion engine adds anything but better combat.

It's compelling because no matter how many mods you put in morrowind it will never looks as good as Skywind or Morroblivion (technically - im sure some nut out there prefers the graphics in morrowind)

Also as you mentioned, if you prefer combat in oblivion to morrowind it can be a major improvement

skywind 1.0 almost releassseeeeddddd

call me crazy but i wanna play actual morrowind before i play it in another engine tho. otherwise it'll just feel like a skyrim or oblivion expansion pack if it takes on that games' gameplay
Play Morrowind. Install a ton of visual mods and combat overhaul mods. Leveling mods if you want. Don't even worry about content mods outside of like, a big monster overhaul or something. Of those, combat overhaul is the only truly important one.

I vote Half Life 1 also for the same reason. You can actually finish it and it will pave the way for you to play HL2 if you havent already, which is a must-play.

Stalker 1 is great, but you might encounter a bunch of issues and bugs that the game has and decide to install a community mod/patch to overhaul the game after youve already played through 1/3 of the game. Then youll feel exhausted and not want to play back up to the point you were at because the save file wont work because you installed a mod that overhauls the shop keepers....yea, im rambling. Good game though. If you play this, I recommend installing all the overhauls and mods before you start playing.

Morrowind is boring. F that game. I dont want to read in a game, i want to kill stuff.

Far Cry 3 is amazing, i recently started playing it. I checked on howlongtobeat.com to see the avg time it takes to finish it. I think it was about 33 hours, but I found myself wasting SO much time in the game. I thin kit would take me at least 100 hours to beat with full completion. Thats time i dont have.

witcher 1 or 2?
2, i've played 1 already

I have morrowind all set up and ready to go - when i bought it I installed a bunch of graphics overhaul mods, etc.

Was something for the combat included? The biggest barrier for entry to Morrowind for most people is swinging your sword at enemies and getting the "missed" message for two minutes straight. Lack of skill in your weapon makes you miss hits instead of just doing less damage. It's kind of rough.

No, but I also installed a "don't miss" mod to take care of that issue.

welp, half life looks like the runaway winner...which in a way i guess i expected. It'll be nice to play a shorter game after demon's souls, which took me a tad over 40 hours to beat.
