That would be me!
Where is THAT tread?!?!

I'm guessing it didn't do as well in sales as they expected, so fewer people buying season passes, fewer people who care about the Xbox early exclusivity, and less shared revenue for Microsoft.

I agree it's a lame sale. Should at least have added some sales on DLCs for older CoDs.
All of this. Also, yeah. Id rather have the Black Ops 2 SP go on sale so iI could finish the achievements. Better online game too.
Last year's new year eve sale they had elder scrolls 4 and 5 content (game + DLC) on sale for half off. 12/31/2011 they had COD4 content (game + dlc) half off. 12/31/2010 they gave $5 off limbo and a free avatar light sabar.

This year they're giving a discount on a new game that was $40 on Black Friday.

And the price isn't even good.
All agreed. And yes. Shitty price point.

Since everyone have been sharing their shoplist, here's mine:

Spider-Man Dimensions, X-Men Origins: Wolverine (+ Weapon X Arena DLC), Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3, Doodle Jump for Kinect, Mini Ninjas Adventure, Freefall Racers, 3 on 3 NHL Arcade, Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons, Feeding Frenzy 2, Plants VS Zombies, The Wolf Among Us (for free, + the season pass, paid), Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate, Origin Of Pain and Riders of Doom for Trials Evolution, Big Thrills for Trials HD, State Of Decay, and LEGO Batman 2.

5 on demand games, 9 arcade games, 5 DLCs (excluding the free ones for the games I bought). Overall price in Euros (European marketplace): 74,26 Euros = 102,32 Dollars. Along with the early December sales, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and what I got for Christmas as actual gift, I probably got 30 or so new games in the past month and the half on the Xbox 360 alone.

Everyone's taste is different. Some people would buy nearly any game for the right price, others are more picky, others already have most of the games they'd ever play. But honestly, I don't see how anyone can say this sale was "lame". There have been 100+ games and DLCs on sale. Many of them have never been on sale (Brothers, State Of Decay, The Wolf Among Us). Some are so new that there was no way they'd even go on sale by now, and were sold for extremely competitive prices (Killer Is Dead, from August, going 13$ - same for Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate, from September it's 13$ - but don't forget the 15$ deal on NCAA 14 too). There were some games already seeing discounts that were sold at ridicolously low prices (like all the PopCap games going below 1 dollar) - casual or not, these games are highly regarded and are extremely polished, so it's not like they've been throwing cheap stuff around. The season passes haven't been cheaper, and seeing even 30% off for the DLC of games coming out like 2 months ago is definitely solid. They've put on nice sale everything that was going to be delisted (Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 received a whopping 84% in the process, finishing at 5$). Many good old classic GoD games, some more niche, going for like 3-5$ each (El Shaddai, Bully, etc.).

Yeah, Ghosts could have been cheaper. Yeah, Steam had some cheaper games, but PC games and Steam have always been cheaper than their counterpart. The PS Sales also had their ups (The Last Of Us had a very competitive price for example), but overall didn't have this many surprises. As I said, it's tastes, but there's just no way to call this a "bad sale". It had plenty of amazing prices, not all of them (Ghosts was still expensive, for example), okay. Many totally unexpected moves, and many things tons of people have been craving to get as soon as it got a sale. Maybe what you wanted wasn't on sale, but I see people having spent some 100$ (including myself), so obviously it wasn't exactly a collection of cheap crap nobody wants. I'm pretty new to this site but always been a CAG at heart, having bought over 100 games this year, and I think less than 10 have been full or near-full price. This Countdown Sale had its peaks and low points, but overall, has been the sale I spent most money on (I had the console for 4.5 years now), and overall one of the strongest ones when it came to the actual savings. Pair that with the new deal of the week featuring nice prices on the LEGO games, add the two amazing GwG games for January... I just can't understand how to even complain at all this stuff. I get it, some people wanted ME3 DLC or whatnot, but keep in mind this is not just MS's doing but it's down to the publishers. Do the publishers actually want to have a sale on their products? If they're selling good enough as it is, chances are they won't be doing any sale (see Minecraft). That's just how it is.

Also, it seems the last chance Marvel sale was true to its word. At least the Spider-Man games that were on sale have been delisted.

Prediction: Coming soon, a Marvel game in the style of Skylanders.
Well, crap. I didn't think the Spiderman games were going to disappear, just MvC in its various forms.

So much for picking those up. Discounts weren't amazing on them, though looks like it's physical media or nothing and those prices are likely to start skyrocketing.

74,26 Euros = 102,32 Dollars - for future reference, in the US we use a period to separate dollars and cents.

You don't seem to understand, it' "could have been cheaper"? It WAS cheaper on Black Friday. Maybe you didn't get it because you're not American... They're selling a digital copy of a game that can't be traded in, resold, or loaned out for MORE than the disc version was a few weeks ago. We're talking the same version here, this has nothing to do with Steam.

I don't know what's happening to me, I only bought a few games this sale and passed on some that I wanted. I think I might be reaching my backlog limits. I have 2x32gb flash drives full, and I've been busting it to 100% games so I can delete them off my 99% full 250gb hard drive make room for more. Plus I've been trying to keep up 100%ing the 2 xbox one games I have. Even the current 50% off gohastings deal isn't getting me to buy.

Incorrect. It only applies if you can cite examples where I'm whining about the same shit you were. In this situation, it was about whiners whining about shit being $3.75 instead of $2.00. I wasnt. Hence, pot does not=kettle. You are extremely unintelligent.
You're accusing people of being whiny brats yet sounding like a whiny brat...pot=kettle...it's not hard.

Does everyone here have Halo 3 and want to play a big ole customs match later?

A little off subject, but I'd like to think most of you have it.

I have all the DLC and such. Anyone in?

Lol. Making one post is considered whining? Cool. Next time you read something here you don't agree with, don't say anything, lest you want to be considered a whiner. In fact, don't protest ANYTHING in life at all.

Anyone that bought Dishonored GOTY for $20 or $25 on BF and already finished it, Amazon is giving almost $20 in trade in credit for it.

OMG Who gives a shit. People here bitch all the fucking time. People want shit as cheap as possible and a thousand people will come here and bitch if it's $1 more than they think it should be. If you hate that then you came to the wrong site.

Wow, talk about going off-topic. FYI: none of the 500+ people who follow this thread (and the hundreds if not thousands more who view it) care to read arguments over who's more upset/bitchy and the semantic meanings of "whiny." So please keep it out of this very public thread. Thanks.

Would this qualify as whiny? I kid I kid. :)

Yay! Finally a decent game I want for free. Not going to complain about free games, but I owned/played years ago almost any of the free ones so far.

Bought in the Sale - Bioshock Infinate, Walking Dead series 1, Forza Horizon (which I wish I didn't buy only because I got Forza 5 and an One for christmas. Can't be mad though, because that was a huge suprise).

I'm not supporting DICE until they fix everything that's wrong with BF4 instead of releasing broken dlc. From what I've heard, the dlc is even buggier than the stock game.

It's the last day of the sale and I still haven't decided on NCAA 14. I have $15.85 in my account, hope that the Sleeping Dogs DLC will see a discount, and a disc copy of NCAA 13. Anyone have any good reasons to spend the money on it? "It's the last one they'll make" isn't much of a reason to me as it's not a physical copy I can show off or anything, if that makes sense.

awww im a lil disappointed the last day was just plain ol Call Of Duty Ghosts, was hoping for shooters with that game as the main highlight. Oh well still got some good deals through it all =).

I have a bunch of money in my account and I am still wavering on it. On the one hand, I love football. On the other hand, I played 1 game of Madden 25 this year and sold the game off. I just don't like the 4000 controls they have for each thing. It's like they add a control in so your player can pick a fucking bugger on the sidelines or go get a cup of Gatorade...

Pretty sure Peggle 2 is an XBox One only title, at least for XBox consoles. As for Strider, never even heard of it.
As far as I know, Peggle 2 is an X1 exclusive.

And have you never heard of Strider or just the new one? If the first, HOW THE F*** DON'T YOU KNOW ABOUT STRIDER!

Also, hopefully Strider is on X1 and its an "arcade" title.

Pretty sure Strider was announced for X360, X1, PS3, and PS4.

Sleeping Dogs is easily one of my favorite games of this generation, I absolutely loved everything about it. I know I don't really have to sell anything since it's going to be a free download but I just wanted to say that it's definitely worth the hard drive space!

No one wants a strider game.
Apparently Capcom think more people do than Mega Man

Xbox One Games with Gold Revealed

Fighter Within and Lococycle

LOL.

Seriously though, I wonder when Xbox One's GwG program will start. I'd figure probably not until like June when there's "older" games to give away.

I haven't heard much but I wonder if there will be games on demand versions of Xbox and XBLA games eventually.

Major Nelson said in 2014 they will announced what is going to be free with XB1 games with Gold.

There are two problems (so far) with this 1) They didn't say a exact date, so technically December 31st 2014 they would be golden and 2)They said "access" to, which I hope doesn't mean PSN+ where games expire if your subscription expires.

Hopefully something good down the road so I don't have to spend as much money. MS is starting nice with Watchdogs and Guardian of Light. I'm at the point where I'm basically not buying anymore 360 games since I own a X1, with the exception of Brothers because everyone and their mom put it in their top 10 games for 2013. The ease of next gen ports makes me very wary as well considering the PC to XB1 or PS4 port is supposedly insanely easy (and cheap) to do, so holding out (but not counting on) Lords of Shadow 2 and Dark Souls 2 ports.

With most games, "access to" doesn't matter. As someone that has PS+, I'm perfectly fine with it. The only games it matters on are casual games like pinball, popcap, etc where you play a game here and there and never really "finish".
