In a perfect world, I would like to see a system set up similar to law enforcement. Local, state and federally-ran hospitals that operate on different levels. Additionally, I would still like to see individuals be allowed to open private practices that are unaffiliated with the government (short of some basic certification process).I hear you, Bob, and it is not a bad point...but most professional firefighters and police are paid by state municipalities. If I don't like what is offered here I can move.
To some extent. Basic stuff should be paid for by the individual, but some advanced-level education can be paid for by taxpayers. Teachers and Law Enforcement are a good example. They pay for their own basic stuff. In some cases, they pay for keeping their knowledge current. But, if they want some high-end training, they can usually get it paid for by the employer or get grants for it.Serious question. Would you be willing to have the government ie taxpayers foot the bill for the cost of medical school (they would still have to pay for college out of pocket)? I only ask because I view doctors much the same you.
