 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

My only complaint was that he also does the voice of Adachi and he forces himself to sound more nasally or something to differentiate him from Yu lol.
Part of me feels like they should have just re-casted him since Yu had significantly more lines in the anime then he did in the actual game. But just knowing most anime fans they probably would've just complained if JYB didn't return to both roles.

I wonder what he thinks of all of the work he's been getting since Atlus on the cash train with it's numerous Persona 4 spinoff games.

So, I ordered Tenchi Muyo War on Geminar LE from GoHastings for $27. Figured I would sell my current Part 1 and upgrade to the fancy box.

Got the package in today and it has Part 1....AND Part 2!

Yay for Hastings!
I remember getting the Fullmetal Alchemist OVA used from them but they sent me a new one instead. It was a crappy OVA, but it was only $3 when I got it! :D

Anyone know here I can get Kaleido Star: Season One (non-SAVE, the one with the slipcover) for cheap? My order from TRSI is in limbo as they sent me an email telling me that it is now OOP and they are waiting for leftover stock from Funi.

GoHastings has Season 1 for $14.99 while SecondSpin has it for $19.99. Both are Used, so who knows if it will have the slipcover.

DVD Planet has Season 2 for $26.

There's a 10% off code at Dvdplanet.com, MADCASH, which stacks with the current anime sale. I can't find anything to get with Pet Girl of Sakurasou 1 for the free shipping... :whistle2:k

Got GTO and Love Election Chocolate blu ray with the coupon code and I gotta say it made pulling the trigger a whole lot easier and now I play the waiting game.

Interested in what title you got from them. I most likely will be buying Kill La Kill from them whenever they release.
I ended up picking up Nise/Bakemonogatari. Got the expensive ones out of the way and it will make picking up Black/White a lot easier. Sort of regret not picking up Madoka LE now that they are OOS though I may end up just gettin the standard ones eventually.

Bah, I went with Pet Girl of Sakurasou 1 and Love, Election, and Chocolate with the code, both on Blu-ray. I better like the latter, guys.

FYI, if anyone here is a member at ebates.com, they give 2.5% cashback on purchases at dvdplanet.com.

Will Dragon Ball ever be made in Blu? I want to own it, but not sure if I should go out and purchase the five seasons on DVD. Same with GT.
Dragon Ball Z now on Blu-ray soon Dragon Ball will be on Blu-ray. Possible 2 years plus from now we will see Dragon Ball Z Uncut (Possible Dragon Box) on Blu-ray. Funi Always milking Dragon Ball Franchise. I finally Got 7 Dragon Boxes, entire Dragon Ball Seasons, Dragon Ball GT Set and Dragon Ball movies. I'll waits for perfection of Dragon Ball, Z or GT and Movies Set uncut on blu-ray. Possible 3-5 years from now ;)

We'll never see the Dragon Boxes on Blu-ray. Well, maybe whenever Blu-rays become obsolete and people are no longer buying them. FUNi had to bend over backwards just for the DVD versions and had to stop making them after a few months.

As for Dragonball on Blu-ray, it is a possibility. However, it will not be until well after all of Z is released. Unfortunately, the original doesn't sell nearly as well as Z or GT, so it might take some doing.

I liked Love, Election, and Chocolates. But that's just me. Needed more romance.

Doubt it....although it is possible but Funi seems to milk dbZ not GT or just db. for whatever reason only DBZ hit cult obsession status. probably due to the fact that DBZ aired first in america if I recall. als dbz is more action versus the comedy skits of DB.

granted I love db and probably should rewatch it one of these days as it has some amazing fights.

don't know why but I first read that Erection not Election and lol'd

DBZ's higher popularity is not just in the US. How often do you see King Piccolo, the Red Ribbon Army, or Pilaf in new projects? And note how Kai was made only of Z, not the original.

Good call on GTO, I didn't know they'd re-released it. Don't know who Easter Star is, but hopefully they don't suck.

well I gave up on trying to understand why Japan likes certain shows compared to America. so i really have no idea whether DB is popular over in Japan or not.

I'm sure it is but you have to remember it's hard to keep a fanbase with a manga that's over 20 years old. Their fans probably have kids who are into current manga like One Piece, Naruto, and other Jump mangas.

And while I'd love to see a legitimate (not cropped) release of DB/DBZ on Blu, I know that I probably won't see it happen until I'm like 40. At least I got my wish with Yu Yu Hakusho. :D

Eastern Star is just a label that Discotek releases their stuff under. Not sure how they decide what gets released under what label, but they're both the same company.

I'm hoping we at least get dragonbox sets for DB and DBGT.

While I no longer dig shonens very much, I still enjoy some of the classics, and the Blu release of Yu Yu Hakusho is just incredible. That is literally the perfect remaster.

I would prefer if Dragon Ball GT just ceased to exist--via some form of time paradox or something. It has the same problem as the movies where it butchers the plot and people fight in retarded ways. In the canon material, people don't get the shit beat out of them before deciding to go super saiyan, but they always do in GT and the movies. I know it's silly, but it just drives me crazy.

Welp, I'm glad I got YYH some attention as it seems someone brings up a DBZ related topic in here every other week.

In other news, Walmart.com still has not shipped my Robotic;notes part 1 set. I forgot how long it's been out now but I'm hitting them with an e-mail. =|

Seems like there is a collector's edition for Attack on Titan exclusive to the Funimation website. Only thing the Collector's Edition has over the Limited edition is 4-pin collection (Military Police Regiment, Scout Regiment, Garrison Regiment, and Cadet Corps), a replica of Eren Jaeger’s key necklace, a sword necklace featuring the Titan flesh paring blades. Otherwise, both seem to be in a Digipak/Digibook packaging.

Here is the package art for the Collector's Edition (Funimation shop only), Limited Edition, and Standard Edition:

Looks cool though for 100 bucks I may just keep my RS preorder for the Limited Edition.

Honestly I don't like the whole art case book thing. The Funimation edition has more swag that I feel isn't worth the extra $$$. Also, the Funimation store seems a bit bleh to me with their prices.

I will say GT did one thing incrediably well.... and that is undeniably the last story arc and the ending.....DBZ had a terrible ending up there with some of the worst.....GT however sends the show off on a great high note and a great finish. so that I have to love GT.

Yu YU hackasho is a show I really should get someday. I loved it back in the day and I always wanted to see it's finish

Well, GT started as a return to the Dragonball roots: Goku as a kid, the comedy aspect, and then they seemingly saw the ratings drop or something and it morphed into full on Z mode with fighting and power ups and insanity.  That probably pleased fans who were waiting for it to kick into that mode.

In my opinion, Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the few anime out there where the anime adaptation is vastly superior to the source material in the manga. Heck, even the ending is much better done in the anime than manga. I have the DVDs and have considered multiple times to upgrade to the Blu, but just never really was able to pull on the trigger. Despite the amazing transfer, I just can't justify spending another $100 for the entire season of which I already have.

Yu Yu Hakusho is one of my favorite animes of all time. I actually own an anime cel of Sensui. This is one time where the dub is superior and makes the show amazing. I remember buying every DVD as soon as they came out at Suncoast and still have the whole series. I did buy the 1st season Blu Ray, which I must say, is amazing. I do mean to pick up the other 3 seasons at some point.

I think I ended spending more than I wanted to on the dvdplanet sale with the 10% code haha.

Weird thing is most of what I ordered were DVDs and not BluRays for once.

A similar thing happened to me with Viz manga. I noticed that Right Stuf was having a 33% of sale all Viz media products (or at least the majority of them) and I splurged $50 to fill in my One Piece manga collection. It's the only manga that I collect and while I had been able to grab many of the volumes for under $4 each (thanks in large part to the GoHastings sales), I haven't been able to find them anymore at a low enough price (including shipping costs). At $6.69 a pop at Right Stuf during this sale, I figured it would be a good time to fill in some of the stuff I'm missing (end of the Skypiea arc and into Water 7).
