This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

So apparently I can't even import World Tour now. fucking Activision pulled it early. I'm assming import from other games are also not possible now. I am way madder than I should be, was hoping to at least import GH 5, World Tour and Smash Hits (already have Band Hero, don't care enough about GH: Metallica).

Why set a deadline of 3/31 if you're not even going to follow it?
Not that it will make you feel better but I was unable to do the import last Wednesday/ Thursday even though I know my import codes were never used so I don't think you just missed it.

Well, it took my code, and I get as far as the $1.99 purchase screen (I don't even have to put in the code again) and I click purchase (it asks me if I want to use my account balance towards the transaction, which is neat). But then that's where I run into trouble with it saying I should clear my cache or some stupid useless advice (I tried it, didn't work). Did you have the same issue?

Maybe I should try again. I kept getting a code not valid error and I bought WT new so I know the code was not used. I will try in a bit and update. I have more Rockband tracks anyway so I was not that upset but for a few bucks it would be nice to pick from a bigger set list even if I do not tend to play GH.

The chance of it being Terraria is very very low in my opinion

Terraria is a top game and theirs no way they are just gonna give it away for free

Highly addictive and very amazing game though

About as new as Hitman though, I think?
I think disc version of Terraria came out recently. Gamefly doesn't get it until April 1st and the only review at Gamestop is from March 2014.

MS Store has had Hitman for a little over over $3 just a couple weeks ago, so that seems more likely to me. I'm still not trusting that source though.

We need Viva Piñata 2.

If it is Terraria (which I doubt) it would be by far the best game GwG has given away IMO, taking that title from Sleeping Dogs.  That being said, seems like Terraria would still be selling way too well for it to be free.

RDR Undead Nightmare is by far my favorite piece of DLC from this generation, I'm glad to hear so many people are liking Burial as Sea. I'll get around to it eventually.

Trollface day is coming and along with a new month for new discounts, new Games with Gold offers, and hopefully a new reward offer as well. Once long ago, there was an April 1st discount which was double price Horse Armor (and half price all other Oblivion DLC); it was great and so I am currently optimistic for our upcoming discounts. Despite already owning Hitman: Absolution on disc already, I still welcome a contemporary offer for Games with Gold to add to my account, if the word out on the streets is true. As for my prediction for upcoming discounts on Deals of the Week, I think Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi should see a discount, it seems quite suited for gold paying subscribers.

I'll do my best to avoid mentioning the convergence of music, movies, and games I enjoy (not exactly by Microsoft's design) on this thread too much in fear that too much off-topic on this thread does bring out many hidden Biff Tannens in here. It is a bit nerve-wracking, if I should post due to the fear I just add to the noise. Yet, I do love me the discounts and Xbox games, so I hope you do not mind an old person as I who enjoy playing videogames with my hands abduct the thread on a journey to change its course.

Nowhere near as bad. It's bad but not Escort Mission: The Game bad.
Well, it is on sale right now, and many seem to really like Escort Mission: The Game so much that it was one of their most favorite games of 2013. I surmise that many enjoy showing off to Elizabeth how great a big daddy they become. Also it seems many critics seem to praise Ico for the escort emotions. At least the promise of overtime with Ashley Graham, the president's daughter, takes the edge off the sting of a whole game based around an escort mission. (Oh, you meant Amy, well that still had many discount offers before too.)

Ah well, I know much of the content is a repeat sale, so that's why there hasn't been much like for this past week's discounts. Thanks to Bloomy, BobbyTastic, goodbyetonight, et al for keeping everyone on this thread informed about the delistings, free, and discounted Activision DLC extending the life of the turntables, drums, guitar and bass rhythm games. As mentioned in a previous post of mine, I choose to save both money and hard drive space by not participating in these titles, that and I know I lack the coordination to play (I still enjoy watching people tackle Dragon Force) especially in my old age. Sadly some delistings are happening sooner than anticipated. Oh I forgot about the keyboards too, quick, play me out.

[customspoiler=Nonchalant Question] So.. not that I'm asking for myself or anything, but where do you find one of those? :whistle2: [/customspoiler]
Not-so-serious answer to a not so serious question: everywhere now for you young whipper-snappers. These days it is wonderful the audience for video games encompasses so much diversity. Why just decades ago, the girls I remember being around viewed most of the games I enjoyed as simple diversions which moving a character from left to right (not too unfounded of a misconception at that time, since the landscape was dominated by the Mario, Castlevania, Contra, Ninja Gaiden, styled games ... good times) which did not interest them, and the only acceptable video game they'd partake in was Tetris which were on their Texas Instruments slide rules and abacuses more attuned to their interests like trigonometry, political rhetoric, and Latin. A younger me at the time, favoring the Puyo Puyo series more for its simplicity for creating chains and character, only saw Tetris was an okay game until it becomes too fast for me to move and position pieces. Now I realize some people play it like this and this, so I know the Tetris god keeps those girls from me. Ah well, I keep getting older, they stay the same age, but now more and more enjoy all the games I enjoy ^^.

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions is one of my favorite games of all time, but would any publisher be willing to distribute that game in this environment? What scares me is that the answer to that can be seen in the fact that the last real iteration of that franchise was released in 2007 in Japan.
The first Final Fantasy Tactics is my favorite Final Fantasy game, I still haven't played that newer edition with the newly added events (and cutscenes) like Agrias Oaks' birthday. I think there is a kickstarter game which features the original director, Yasumi Matsuno, along with 2 more (lead character designer and composer) of the original 4 (headhunted by Squaresoft) "traitors" which made FFT, called Unsung Story. I look forward to it.

Speaking of crowdfunded, I am really hyped about Hyper Light Drifter, which was not slated for the Microsoft consoles initially in its kickstarter pitch, but thanks to ID@xbox it will come out for the X1, and I really hope the same program allows the developers to consider making a XBLA port as well. Also it seems the aforementioned Activision still has a Spiderman game coming and the developer walkthrough makes it sound interesting, like its prior sequel-movie-based game in the franchise which seem to have a lot of praise, and may be worth taking the role of Spiderman. Still much I can look forward to, like Decapre (kinda figured it would be her, but I would have loved if it were Lt. Linn Kurosawa instead, based around the teased clues) and Phase-4. Glad to see there's still some love on my Xbox 360. Or maybe that's why we keep a very grape-y indentured servant around the significant other who happens to have a kid which is the splitting image of an old crush ... hmm ...

random replies:

Groo The Wanderer > yeah the temptation is there for me too since I really wanted Mercenary Kings from its crowdfunded origins and like the aforementioned Hyper Light Drifter, I'm hoping it also shows up on XBLA (even though I have on PC) as well so I can join my 360 friends playing it too. Well, Phil Spencer did mention he wanted more involvement with the Games with Gold team and wanted to improve the program (presumably the selection of titles), and it seems Phil Spencer tends to enjoy or at least push the titles which are typical choices for Summer of Arcade like Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Limbo, Braid, Shadow Complex, (Super Time Force), etc. So maybe he'll also lure Mercenary Kings to be free for us too.

hearsaybear > I forgot about this series. Loved the neon night look, same draw I had with Blur. EA lost some of its old sense of fun to me, since I would have preferred them to let Criterion continue to make Burnout games instead of placing them onto a different franchise, and allowed the Underground line to blossom on its own path. At least Underground 2 is somewhat backwards compatible on the 360.

Dustinator > I would so buy Halo: Spartan Assault for the 360 if it were $1.99 as well, but alas only Windows Phone/Tablets/8.1 get that discount. After many years, I still prefer the tactile feel for physical sticks/buttons/d-pads, but I do not find the currently higher price on 360 worth it just to experience this title, just because I am stuck in my old ways.

Briar36 > I do want Double Dragon Neon on sale, but stay strong, I'm trying to stay strong too. I hope the day will come we will have it on discount. When there's repeat discounts, I've learned to value good new discounts more, because the chance may be fleeting. As it was when I missed out on my one chance to get Bulletstorm DLC discounted or XBLA Death Tank at a lower price when they were on Deal of the Week. I had no clue those would never see a discount again, and now I spend enough already on the few new things that do get the discount treatment. I also hope the one time Marlow Briggs was discounted will not be the only time. However, I know once you buy at full price, you have a high chance of hating yourself when it gets discounted later, that is the life of a CAG. We will be here when it gets discounted, it will be hard to miss on this thread, there's others waiting too, so stay strong.

barddockkun > I too am hyped about the Goat Sim (but not at its current price). I did get the developers previous game on XBLA when it was discounted, still waiting on the DLC to get a price reduction too on Live.

See ya tomorrow, with hopefully not a bad joke discount. If not, we will have to go back to that one day ...

EDIT: continuing on my theme, thanks to the once free DLC which involved a DeLorian on Burnout Paradise, was there ever an "Ultimate Box" released on the 360? I just got the game, but it is the original, and I was wondering if the "Ultimate Box" was the Platinum Hits version, or did it actually get a rare release (like DiRT 3 Complete) on the 360.

I really hope it's not Hitman Absolution. That would suck for me...even more than usual.

I bought it originally from the Hungarian market place, then picked a physical copy around Christmas to free up some HD space. All this and I have yet to play 1 minute of the game. My Gold runs out in a couple of weeks and I am seriously thinking about holding off on renewing it since I don't play multiplayer (well except World of Tanks...and I need to find a way to kick that addiction).

I feel the same. I play next to no multiplayer anymore and my 1 year card runs out on the 14th of April. I'm leaning towards not renewing. The return to lackluster Deals of the Week isn't increasing my motivation to renew either. It would probably take a couple of really solid GWG titles to convince me to pay up again.

I actually never play multiplayer and I got 12 months of Live when it was on sale a month or so ago for $30. I figured 2 free games a month I probably don't have or at least never beat, plus the occasional decent Gold exclusive sales was enough to justify paying for Live at $30 for 1 year.

Tempted by Burial At Sea Pt.1... And now, with all the people talking about how good pt.2 is, I'm tempted to pay the $20 for the season pass.
Yeah, think I'm just going with the season pass as I don't anticipate any sales on it in the foreseeable future since it's already a really good savings.

The talk of Terraria reminded me that do need to go back to play the game. I've only played about 1 hour since buying it and it's just sitting on my hard drive.

Pretty darn good TWD episode tonight. :D If only it could always be like this!

Although how obvious was it that Terminus would have a Dark Secret.™ I had made a bet a couple weeks ago that it would be cannibalism and I'm feeling pretty good about it. At least they didn't drag things out forever.

Season 4 is my favorite season I think. Scott Gimple is a good showrunner and I believe he's coming back for season 5, so that's good news.

On topic: bought Tomb Raider on the One, no regrets.

The first 20 minutes of Tomb Raider alone is worth $30. I forgot how exciting the game was. Pause the game during a wolf jump attack for a great screenshot.

Well folks, it's official. Pretty much everything GH-related is gone, a day ahead of schedule. Bravo Activision, bravo. :wall:

Was about to plop down $13 for the recommended song DLCs for achievement hunting, but it looks like they saved me the trouble. I guess I'll spend it on that Rock Band/Rock Band 2 import instead.

Sounds about right for Activision. Everyone likes to rag on EA, but they've actually gotten a lot better in recent years. But Activision? Pretty much all they do is milk their franchises with mediocre sequels until they're dead, then they pull anti-consumer crap like this, pulling their DLC a day ahead of schedule. I can't think of any publisher worse than Activision.

Regarding DJ Hero content, at least, the Electro Hits pack for DJ Hero 2 is still up. Nothing else, though. I don't see an option to download the free compatibility pack, either (to bring the old DJH1 DLC in) which kind of sucks. I suppose I shouldn't have waited until the last day, but I haven't had access to my 360 for a few days.

Activision loses out on money from me as well, been super busy and just wrapped up the assignments I had due. Come here to find out they removed everything already! Was looking at some exclusive tracks and achievement friendly ones as well, their loss. I did at least download all the free songs for those games way back when so I've got those if I ever feel the desire but really I've been a Rock Band guy since it came out. Even got the damn stage kit it the basement. :bouncy:

It might be unfair to blame Activision for the Guitar Hero songs coming down early. Microsoft and Sony control when they pull stuff down from their stores. December Harmonix said they were losing the license for a handful of songs at the end of the month, but since Microsoft and Sony don't like updating their stores at the end of the year they might pull the content early. Harmonix then gave an update saying Sony told them the content would be pulled nearly two weeks early.

There were three dlc songs that were exclusive to Guitar Hero that I was interested in, but I doubt I'll ever get the urge to load the game up. It's not that I don't like Guitar Hero. It's just the library of songs I actually like is so small. When I play Warriors of Rock there might be a dozen I like. When I play Rock Band 3 there are easily over 100 songs I like.

Glad I grabbed the DJ Hero DLC I wanted earlier today. Eventually I'll dust off one of those turntable controllers again, right?

Here's an extra Band Hero export code. No idea if it still works or how much it would cost to export if it does. Good luck.

C9RK - EACC - CTRR - WZKC - D416

I mean it would make sense though. The game has been on sale physically and digitally for under $10 so many times now I'm starting to think this game is mediocre at best. I rather play the game and be the judge of that myself.

Well, aside of that, it wouldn't be the first or second game by squenix in this promotion. So it wouldn't surprise me. Max Payne 3 and Tomb Raider (2013) are also easy candidates in the near future.

I thought the game was ok, more action than previous entries for sure, kinda like splinter cell: conviction if u ask me

Do we know the second one too, or just that the next one is Hitman?

Nevermind, i just read somewhere its rumored to be Deadlight, along with Hitman Absolution.

There have been rumors of the second, but I still consider Hitman (although, sources for this are pretty credible) a rumor until Major posts. He usually posts about noon Eastern the day before the new free games go live, so we should know both for sure in less than 2 hours.

So I finally tried Civilization and Dungeon Defenders. Keyword is "tried" as all of these controls are so confusing. These are not my type of games at all.

I'll be disappointed if Hitman is the free game. Played it on PS+ and didn't care for all the stealth gameplay. I'm sure others will enjoy it though.

Well it seems to be confirmed...Hitman Absolution and Deadlight this month...quite a dozen Gaming News sites have posted about this hum...well I'm satiesfied with that, don't have Hitman yet and heard it's a good game, and everyone who hasn't Deadlight yet, I for myself could really enjoy the game, it's also an easy completion achievementwise. I remember some people had trouble with the Helicopterlevel...but that wasn't an issue for me, managed this first try and it didn't feel hard at all.

Whoa....TWO games I DON'T have? Haha nice! Who knows if/when I'll get around to them but I've gotten used to having almost all the free games they give (I have a lot of games though :/)

Deadlight?  That was on sale for $3.74 during this past Xmas.  That's gonna piss some people off.  I know a couple of people who bought it then.  Can't wait to hear them rage on MS.  Lol.

Two games I don't own already, not really interested in either but apparently Deadlight is an easy completion so there's that.
Yeah, you can complete Deadlight in about 4~5 hours. It's an easy game. I bought it for $4 dollars and I'd say that it's worth that price (not the full price, obviously).

Also, I was waiting to get Hitman Absolution for free eventually, so I'm fine with that.

Deadlight is a good, fun choice. Gameplay reminds me of Limbo but with weapons and zombies [and color].

I was actually playing it last week when I wanted something different in between sessions of The Maw and Alien Hominid.

I actually always wanted to play deadlight so thats good

and Hitman is one of those games i always wanted to try since PS2 but just never did so very enjoyyable month for me

Not like I needed more backlog to build, but having recently 1000'd Garden Warfare and Spec Ops: The Line (that's 12 games 100%'d this year already - I had 14 in the previous 4+ years of X360 - talk about finally going through my backlog), but I bought the X360 digital version of Ground Zeroes for a 20. The main mission could be done in 30 minutes or so I guess, but I am doing my best to do this the "correct" stealth way, trying to do more and more things. It seems hardly worth the 30-40 bucks it's being sold retail, but it's definitely solid (no pun intended), despite me not being a big Metal Gear fan (though The Phantom Pain looks kickass so I got "lured" into buying this :p).

There is one rather bizarre issue, though. It's a kind of thing that definitely does not happen much on consoles (I barely ever remember such issues on X360), so here goes. When I start the game, no matter what I do, the main menu's buttons don't show up. As anyone who played it will know, there's Snake sitting in the background, he's even animated and stuff, and that works. The game is not locked and it's not crashed, albeit sometimes dashboarding from there does result in a freeze. I tried everything normal: reinstall the game, the update, delete my save, clear my cache, redownload my profile, using a different profile, nothing. What's bonkers is that I did not find a single person complaining of this issue on the Internet: how the hell did it happen that I've found a gamebreaking bug that possibly no one has in the main menu? It's not like I did "something" to the game.

Then, as I was ready to give up and was pretty much just desperately trying random stuff around, it worked. What I needed to do was turning the game on with one profile, then load it up all the way to the glitched main menu, then switch profile WITHOUT turning off the game, let it load the save and connect to the server again, and now it finally works. I'm fairly surprised by all this because being a long-time PC gamer, I am used to weird computer-specific glitches that were a pain in the arse to get around, since it could be anything causing it: the game itself, you might need a patch, a specific driver is missing, some system file is not there, a file is corrupted, some software or hardware you own is not compatible, blah blah, but on closed consoles this does not happen much, and every glitch is usually fairly easy to pinpoint. Not this one.

Tl;dr, if your digital Xbox 360 version of Ground Zeroes (or any other version, maybe?) does not load the main menu but just the animation, try switching your profile while waiting in the glitched menu. Press OK on all pop-ups and it should finally work.

I enjoyed Deadlight more in the beginning but finished the game (fairly easy 400/400).  Hitman is fine also I guess. I have it for PS+ but outright owning it allows me to remove it from that huge PS+ pile.

I've decided to stop buying games because of this. Who am I kidding. I wonder how many of the games that were on sale during Xmas will end up being free this year.

I was one of those people, but at the end of the day it was only $3.74.
