There really isn't any reason for the game to still be $50. None. Bethesda may be allergic to DLC discounts, but at least they have the sense to lower the MSRP on their products after a few years.
I'm looking forward to them dropping the base price to $30 and the discount to 50%.

Did someone say drop the bass?

Oh hey look, some kind of Capcom weekend sale. I'll just check DmC and... dang, base price (before discount) is still $50? This is crazy! If it's still this price during the next Steam Winter Sale, I might just have to stop being a cheap bastard and get it.

Truth be told, if it weren't for the fact I already have access to an (inferior) console version, I would be okay with paying this price. Something about already technically having it really heightens my desire to be cheap for some reason.
PC master race, baby! Never mind that I got the 360 version off of Microsoft's store for $4 during one of their fire sales. PC always wins!

Does anyone happen to have a link to JShackles' trading card idle-thing?

I looked through his profile and threads as much as I could, but no-dice.

DmC isn't even two years old. Granted, the MSRP on console already dropped to $30, but iirc Skyrim took longer than two years to get an MSRP drop.

There are some people who actually want to discuss a trade beforehand. Maybe they want to trade other things, too.

But nobody reads my damn profile or the trade posts I make. I got an offer overnight: GIMME YER FOILS FOR MY KRATER. Ugh.

No, he treated me to dinner and a movie first.
I'm still waiting for those foils.

Donte also bombed at retail in their eyes - Capcom expected 2 million sales, but only moved 1.1 million copies. So they're milking as much money as they can outta consumers to make up for its failure.

In conclusion, Capcom is run by idiots.

Apparently Donte May Cry's price was raised in all territories on Friday, then lowered that same day, before the sale. Eeesh... Capcom, WTF are you doing.

Guess I'll link it here too, since perhaps the BGCQ discussions are not attended as much as I thought: if there's any Gent or Queen who wants to take part in the next multiplayer event with SkyDrift on September 27th but doesn't own the game, here's a giveaway which could solve his/her problem :)

http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/fZrz8/skydrift

It is open to BGCQ members only, so ask Spoony to be admitted if you're not.

Also, there's a The Ship event planned for December, but I can't create a giveaway for it since Steamgifts delisted that game, so if you're a BGCQ member and want it to play with your fellow Gents/Queens then ask me away and I'll gladly gift it to you... first come, first served!

Finally, please join the giveaway (or ask me for The Ship) only if you plan to participate. Any perpetrator who plots to add a +1 to its Steam library and then sneak off will be sentenced to Death by Squirrels (hint: they eat nuts...)!  :shame:

At least they're not like Square-Enix, which expected the Tomb Raider reboot to sell 5 to 6 million copies during its FIRST MONTH (it exceeded 6 million just before Summer 2014).

I think japanese software houses' head-honchos need to revise their financial outlooks badly.

Still, Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider sequels are in production anyway, so with all their beloved franchise drops and poorly marketed titles (ie. Asura's Wrath, which is AWESOME) during last generation, the idiots who run Capcom are way, way bigger.

I wouldn't mind a sleeping dogs' sequel using the same graphic engine, so they can save some $$$ and time there. I really enjoyed that game and want more of it, the sooner the better.

Squeenix isn't unwilling to lower the prices on nearly everything they sell just to pad the sales numbers and profits, though. Some of their recent high profile games have tanked in sales (Murdered: Soul Suspect, and to a much less extreme extent, the Thief reboot) and those copies AMD moved in their promo couldn't have made them a lot of cash either.

While this is true for MSRP prices, I always got the impression that Squeenix's western releases tend to drop fairly quickly: you could easily track Tomb Raider 2013 or Sleeping Dogs at half-off around 6 months after their release and the same could be said for Thief.

That sort of balance out what they wish to charge you, to the point that most gaming blogs, outlets and forums are full of people that refuse to pay full price for their games, even if they manage to succesfully hype them.

Also, was Murdered: Soul Suspect really an high profile game? Mediocre developer, little to no buildup and a tentative to fuse western and eastern "sensibilities" all spelled doom from the start in my book... Squeenix did not held it in much more consideration, though, so I can't hide the feeling that they sent the game to die trying to contain the loss.

MSRP on PC digital shouldn't be THAT hight to begin with. There are games with a $60 MSRP, that's a LOT. If Tomb Raider had a $30 launch base price It would've sold tons of copies. Everybody knows prices will tank sooner or later, but with a reasonable price, more people will buy it at launch, even preorder it! Even reviews will be more comprehensive

I know there are certain franchises that will sell a lot no matter how expensive their games are, TES and CoD comes to mind. But a game like Murdered starting that expensive... No. Ask how much Ubi won with Blood Dragon and Gunslinger. I know they are "mini" AAA, but I'm sure a lot of people bought them at full price or with a little discount after a couple months. I know I'll buy a Gunslinger/Blood Dragon sequel if they launch one, maybe even at full price! $15 for a new, good and fun game is really cheap.

I even waited for a reasonable discount before buying the new X-com... And that is a franchise I REALLY love. But if they launched at $30 or $25 I would've even preorder it

Thanks for the reminder. I only played through the tutorial and one race so far, but I wanted to make sure I had everything unlocked by the next event. This gives me a few nights to get that done.

Go! Go! Nippon! ~My First Trip To Japan~ now has Steam Trading Cards.

8 cards 4 drops market completely crashed already.

At least it will be a cheap badge.

Anyone found a deal on the expansion for Medieval 2 TW?

I picked it up in a HB a while back, and saw it on-sale on HB today, so hoping the extra exposure leads to deal finding. I have been putting off playing it til I got the expansion.

Did you install it before Steamworks conversion? (July)

If yes:

Open command prompt as admin and type:

64bit windows:

REG QUERY "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SEGA\Medieval II Total War"
32bit windows:

REG QUERY "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SEGA\Medieval II Total War"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SEGA\Medieval II Total War
CDKey REG_SZ XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

Activate this key at Steam and you get expansion for free.

They were charging $60 for Murdered at release. It might not have looked like a high profile game to you, but it definitely was for them. They hyped the hell out of the game for a while then just ... dropped it. Probably because someone sat down and played it and realized they'd made a huge mistake.

*shrugs*

Yeah, I may have conveyed my opinions in a wrong way: while I was afraid that the game was just poorly planned out, I wanted it to at least partially succeed since I love adventures, mystery and plot-driven titles. Plus, it looked like a more serious and gritty version of Ghost Trick, and that alone was a big positive for me.

But I don't recall very much coverage at all, other than a promising teaser last year, so I guessed Squenix just threw in the towel and moved on for reasons that may not have been much different than the one you speculated, thus degrading it from a potentially interesting title to something that was better left with its lid on.

Setting up such a ridiculous price point was just adding insult to injury...

I absolutely -loved- the game. It had some very crappy design decisions, but the adventure part of it was awesome and the story was decent, even if it was a bit cliched.

It's too bad the game basically led the developer to its death.

Man, so many CAG "favorites" on sale, I don't know which to reference first.

The boobtacular Sakura Spirit?

Shantae only having 25% off but maybe being worth grabbing at that if planning to play immediately?

Hydrophobia Prophecy never having been on sale before, but in all seriousness so cheap at 49 cents that one wonders if it's slated to be given away free at Humble any moment now?

The way that bearded guy in the Articy:draft video looks like he's never seen a visual novel, or a real-life woman, in his entire life, and the experience is one that will change his life forever?

Seriously, where do I start?

Maybe by asking whether Deus Ex: HR DC has ever been a daily.

Zoo Rampage might be a purchase for me.  Bridget Fisher recommend it.  Ninja Squirrel poops on it.

The reasons MNS cited for the pooping don't really bother me as much (especially considering it's now a $4 MSRP game as opposed to the $10 MSRP game it was when he reviewed it.).

That elephant is really tearing up the town!

Hydrophobia must've been in a bundle already since I have it and never bought it specifically.

I'm also pretty sure I got the DC version of deus ex for $5 from a prior sale.

Anyone know what's up with Tremor Games? I went to look at the page (it's all I ever do) to get my 2 points and got a line of error text.

i think i need eat nuts cause im nut!?

Not only that, but Injustice received a 1.3 GB patch today... to allegedly fix the network issues.

Well, at least I can get those Borderlands multiplayer achievements... if I can stop playing LA Noire for a while.
Shit, I wonder if it's too much to hope they'll do the same with MK.
