  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Do I need to play AC3 before I play Liberation or are they seperate enough stories that it doesn't matter? TIA.

They are almost completely separate with very little tie-in. Perhaps the tie-in mission(s) would have meant more to me if I had played AC3, but I doubt it. I'm pretty sure the tie-in stuff was an add on for marketing purposes only. As I recall, I doubt I would have missed if it had not been included.

Yeah, I feel like the mistake probably indicates that Shadowrun is a future GWG selection, just turned on too early.
I don't see it. Considering Shadowrun has already been a GwG in Germany and Japan (instead of Crackdown), if it comes as a GwG for us it would mean that Germany and Japan should receive a different free game. Too messy and too many maths for microsoft. Just saying.

Since people asked about Abyss Odyssey:

It's a fun and fairly polished rogue-like. The art style is pretty amazing, both visually and audio-wise, which makes the game a delight to watch and hear. If you like rogue-likes you'll probably enjoy it a lot - in that it's probably closest to Rogue Legacy than anything else around. If you're not familiar with it, I'll explain Abyss Odyssey in more detail: it's like a mixture of a Metroidvania and an RPG, thus a 2D scroller with randomly generated dungeons that can have many surprises. Each time you die you are forced to restart from the start, however, a full playthrough will likely take you less than an hour, and your progress (level, money and so on) carry over, so every time you enter the dungeon you are likely stronger than you were last time around. Tons of different enemies, and a cool Pokèmon-like system where you can effectively capture an enemy and use it (actually control it), as long as it's not an overly high level compared to you. The game has a reasonable variety with multiple classes and tons of enemies, although the dungeons are a bit similar. There are some slight glitches and the online is a bit unstable, but it's a very fun game in single player as well. For the achievement hunters: all achievements are pretty easy, although a few require to reach a high level, thus it can be a little time consuming. I suggest trying out the demo: if you like the basic combat mechanism and art style, pick it up, becausr that's what you're getting for the rest of the game as well, albeit with more variety and things to do. I bought it at this price and I say it's definitely worth it.

Since people asked about Abyss Odyssey:
I just got done checking out the demo and it seems very up my alley but it runs bad enough that it detracted from my enjoyment of it. A lot of really neat ideas but to me $10 is still too much with it's polish level. If not for that it would be an instant buy for me and if it hits $5 eventually I'll grab it for sure then.

Wow... I'm kicking myself. I've waited forever for a sale on ME3 DLC. Thought I bought it when it went live. Just checked my purchases and it's not there. Also not in my history on the 360 itself and pulls up full price onthe market.

Wow... Just wow Did I just mess up

Can anyone else access/see this month's Rewards survey? It says there's a new survey but when I press the button it says there isn't a survey for this month.

I haven't played Bad Company 2 in about two years. Is it worth it to get the Vietnam expansion? I thought it would have gone cheaper by now, but I guess not.

Just played NCAA Ultimate Team for a bit, it's really fun, but... I DIDN'T KNOW EA TOOK DOWN THE fuckING PACKS!!!! Going to be stuck with a 65 overall team now so that pretty much ruins online, and there's not much offline either.. I'm really disappointed with this, seems like a mode I would have put a lot of time in.
I mentioned it a few pages back when you guys were talking about it being the last game and how it was worth the 9.99 price. I knew you (due to the fact that u play FUT) would have interest in Ultimate Team so threw the warning out there. Kinda sucks that they did that seeing how there isn't a NCAA 15 for them to support.

Divekick Addition Edition is coming Oct. 8th on X1
I still need a fightstick for KI and now I'll need another one

There was something on WPCentral earlier about a usb adapter that lets you use 360 controllers on X1. I might get that instead of a new stick. Sounds easier/faster than sending it off to a modder as well.

I knew you (due to the fact that u play FUT) would have interest in Ultimate Team so threw the warning out there. Kinda sucks that they did that seeing how there isn't a NCAA 15 for them to support.
Didn't they take them down around when they NCAA stuff was coming to a head and all the licensing stuff fell apart?

Not sure tbh. I know it started in the summer (early July IIRC) as that's when I discovered it. I check about every couple weeks just in case they bring it back but it hasn't been back since.

My usual routine is 1) Check NCAA 14. 2) Realize it doesn't work. 3) Tell EA to suck it. 4) Put in FIFA. 5) Remember that is also an EA game. 6) Forgive EA

Honestly though, it's frustrating how they treat their customers at times. NCAA Ultimate Team is a great example.

Can anyone recommend Skate 3 for $10? I remember the 1st game being a little too sim-like for my tastes and I never played #2. I know that shittypie guy from Youtube apparently made it popular again and EA started printing more discs, in the UK at least.

I haven't played Bad Company 2 in about two years. Is it worth it to get the Vietnam expansion? I thought it would have gone cheaper by now, but I guess not.
I sold it when BF 3 was coming out so I don't know for sure, but by then, the expansion was dieing. I will be downloading the expansion so I can let you know for sure.

Don't forget to download the VIP pass.

On a separate note, does anyone know how the rebates for Xbox Rewards works? I remember when MS Points were used it was a rebate on everything purchased but now it's $10. Is it $10 for each thing or $10 overall for the month?

Depends on if your willing to spend 10 bucks on it

i got cheap and bought part 2 just cause i really wanted to play a skate game and im satisfied with it

I think I noticed your post but I was confused because I had seen some Youtube posts saying that people were still playing it. I tried Madden Ultimate Team once when it first came out and hated it compared to FIFA, so I honestly wasn't expecting much out of NCAA. But what remains of it seems great. Pretty big player pool to choose from from what I can tell. I'm still happy with my purchase since I love playing Road to Glory and the franchise modes are fun, but it's a bit disappointing that I could (should) be getting a lot more for my money.

I'm not sure when they took them down, but I find the whole thing to be kind of strange. It would be one thing if they shut the whole game mode down, but you still get a starter pack when you first start it up, win some packs for certain challenges, and the auction house is still up. I would guess maybe because they can't sell the packs for real money, but why not just deactivate that feature and sell the packs for in game coins only? They've also been pretty sketchy on the EA forums, marking posts about it as "solved" and not really giving any insight on what's going on. Probably some EA greed going on if I had to guess.

I played a game earlier, and while I don't think it will dethrone BF3 as my favorite game in the series, it's still AWESOME. I'm really missing those red dot sights though haha but I'm sure I'll adapt. I definitely think I'm going to get Vietnam, but I'll use you as the guinea pig first haha :)

It changed a bit again since the switch from MyAchievements to MyVIP, but I think it goes like this:

For every $10 you spend you get X amount of credits; the amount you get depends on your Star rank. How many 10's of dollars you spent are calculated once at the end of each month. Whatever you spent over your last set of $10 will be part of your tally for the next month. However, from December into January that amount will not carry over; January will start as if you have spent $0.00.

That's confusing as fuck, dammit Microsoft :bomb:

Anyways, here's my example (with rounded numbers):

Prototype --> $5

Valiant Hearts --> $7.50

Kasumi --> $3.50

From Ashes --> $5

Does that get me a rebate?

Battlefield 3 was fun, although I prefer some of the maps from BC2 more. Haha, yes the RDS are a big pain, but it's easy to adjust to after you play a couple games (and once you unlock the generic ones).

I will let you know about Vietnam for sure.

It's pretty much the same. It's just instead of getting a rebate once you spend $6.25 (500 MSP) you get a rebate once you spend $10. That's if you were getting 2% back. They're just having us spend a little more before we see the rebate.

$21.00 would get you a rebate. You'll get your star ranking percentage back on that first $20 that was spent. If you don't spend an additional $9.00 then that last $1.00 will carry over until you do. Then you'll get a rebate on that additional $10 total you spent.

Well, that $1.00 will carry over until January. Actually, you should check the Xbox Live Rewards site to see if you have any star ranking. I don't think we figured out exactly why our star rankings started where they did. It's possible you have zero stars, and you won't qualify for a rebate anyway.

EDIT: I stand corrected, the program is for every $10 & up accrued for each month, my mistake.

I... don't believe that's correct. It's every PURCHASE of $10 or more, not total of purchases.
Honestly I haven't looked at the fineprint for it since they revised it last month but it was greedy and soul-crushing enough at the time to feel like many of us CAGs will see even fewer rebates/refunds back with this new system.

I'm 5 stars though :D

Couple more free clothing packs for D4 - Gears of War and Fable.

The last time I looked at PlayXBLA, 95% of the posts were just Happy Wars, World of Tanks, and Minecraft, so I think they gave up on using it as a useful promotional tool for their digital games. The fact that Microsoft has three potential sites to spread news out there and they don't really do much with any of them shows how much they need to unify them all to have just one single site for all of your Xbox news needs. It would simplify the process for people to learn about new announcements and what games are coming soon. I can't say off the top of my head what XBLA titles are coming to Xbox 360 or Xbox One in the next few weeks besides Chariot, which is part of the problem.
Looks like PlayXBLA.com is gone. The URL now jumps to news.xbox.com. The Twitter handle is still being used (for now). So while they might not be doing anything useful, they're doing something, so a middle manager somewhere is probably content (again, for now).

Xbox Live Rewards still says for every $10 you spend you get the rebate. That part doesn't sound any different than how it's been since Xbox Live Rewards did away with MSP. And I have been getting credits back for every $10 I spend; not for every $10 item I bought. Here's what the FAQ says:

"For every $10.00 you spend on qualifying Xbox Store content, you will be eligible for Rewards. The Rewards earned will be calculated at the end of each month, and then will show up on your MyRewards page as Pending in the following month."

It doesn't say 'for every $10 purchase'. And if you look at the punchcards you'll see they are clear when a purchase has to be a certain amount to qualify.

I was getting 2% back with MyAchievements. Now I'm getting 4% back with MyVIP. So far I'm liking the new system better. That could drastically change if our star rankings reset, and we have to rebuild our star ranking each year.

Garden Warfare is one of my most played games this year, if not the most played altogether. Such a fun game, and the new DLC with cheezmints will be the right excuse I needed to go back to it.

new garden warfare achievements is the best part of the update. seriously though its going to take forever to get all the new stuff through the dumb legends of the lawn card pack

I have the Vampire Zombie card, still need the Backup Dancer and the other one. $30,000 per pack though....Christ.

Hey Serious Question about the SNK games CAG community:

I bought Fatal Fury Special about a month ago. When I play the game while online everything is fine, however when I am disconnected to Live/Online, I load the game and when I attempt to play single player I get "You do not have permissions to run this game". I googled this and apparently Metal Slug 3 does the same thing. Do all of these SNK games have some kind of DRM? Is their a work around? Has anyone else run into this problem? I'd like to get all these SNK games, but I don't like being tied to being Online when they eventually shut Live down.

A little extra info, Yes I am using the same profile I purchased the game with. Yes I am using the same Xbox I originally downloaded it too.
I was worried about your post, so I tested this today on my 360. I disconnected from the internet (I only use an ethernet cable for my 360 and just unplugged it), and started up a few games. Both Fatal Fury Special and Samurai Shodown 2 booted up and played just fine. I didn't try any others yet, but I do have Garou and Metal Slug 3, will try those later and report if there is a problem with them.

Of course we do have that irritating "feature" where, if you're not connected to XBL, none of the actual game icons appear for your "My Games" list. I feel this is Microsoft's way of "punishing" you for not being online and connected to XBL. What other reason is there for not allowing the icons to display when offline? It's really annoying.

It seems like you're encountering a glitch; I never heard anything about the SNK Neo Geo games not playing offline, and it doesn't appear to be the case here. I do only have one gamer profile on my 360, and it was signed in when I started the games (but I wasn't connected to XBL). Hope this helps!

Hey Thank you for testing! Maybe it's just Fatal Fury Special then... I found a gamefaqs post that also mentioned metal slug 3, that listed a work around saying you needed to sign in with a profile that DIDN'T buy the game and it would play offline. (Weird, I know) I plan on buying these games later in the week, I'll give everyone an update then.

Good luck and report back what you find. I will also test Metal Slug 3 and Garou later today and let you know what I find. I'm CONSIDERING buying Samurai Shodown Sen also, haven't made my mind up (yes I know it is no where near as good as the traditional Samurai Shodown games, which I love). Of course SS Sen is not an XBL game, it's a full game, so it shouldn't have the online problem for anyone.

Samuari Shodown Sen is so bad It's good.  I actually bought the game at launch because me and my friends are pretty big SS fans.

Funny enough I believe it was the last SS game released outside of the Pachinko machine.

Abyss Odyssey is a fun little game. It was the same price the week of release so there is really no huge savings.

I had fun playing through it a few times. I like the art style and the randomly generated levels. It also has couch co-op.
Thanks. Turns out I already tried it when I saw the "Download Again" icon. You're right the graphics are nice, but the gameplay bored me mostly because it glitched out for me. Wasn't a fan of the story either.

I decided to hold off on the Far Cry games and wait to get the compilation disc when it reaches $20. Plus it would save me some hard drive space.

I'm the type who likes to keep all of a series on one console so I don't know where I should keep Battlefront games (I have BF 3 downloaded from Playstation Plus unplayed). Is that weird?

Snagged Battlefield 1943 today. Not sure how I feel about it. I love the look and feel, and the simplistic take on everything is great, but damn is it easy to confuse this game for World of Tanks v2. I feel like there are 40 vehicles on the map, which gets annoying in a 24 player (or less) game. Once I managed to avoid tanks and planes fore more than 5 seconds and infiltrated an enemy base I had a lot of fun with it, but that was an incredibly rare occurrence. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Any CAG thoughts on this one? Would like to get in a squad with some of you guys and play, might have a bit more fun / luck with it.

Just bought both the Vietnam and Onslaught DLCs for Battlefield.  Guess we'll see in a few days if I get credit rewards for both purchases or just one.
