Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/movies-tv/2959127011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_mov_1_3_last   (Blu Ray)

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Movies-TV-Anime/zgbs/movies-tv/2959100011/ref=zg_bs_nav_mov_2_2958934011 (DVD)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

I apologize if someone has linked this already but funimation is running a pretty sweet deal for their streaming service. The rest of 2014 plus 12 months + 25 dollars store credit for 55 bucks.
http://www.funimation.com/p/subscribe
im personally waiting until cyber monday to get the deal as last year they ran a sale on the sub on cyber monday...

and if I could get $25 store credit, the sub for another year for less than $55 (it was like $40 last year) all the better :p

Personally I think they might have gone with 40ish last year (I remember that deal, it was around that price) because they were trying to really get the service going. Hopefully they go lower this year too!

That's actually a really, really good deal. Maybe buying a sub will get them to finally make an app on PS3/4/XBO app. Been thinking of selling some games so I might grab this.

Edit: Wait it went as low as 40? Hmmmmmmmmm............ maybe I'll take back what I said

since this current deal goes until dec 15th I don't see any harm in waiting, especially since I am currently subbed :p

They need to still update their pc/android streaming first. The idea that it doesn't keep track of what you have watched in this day and age is just crazy @_@

On PC it tends to be a huge pain to locate episodes from time to time as well as older episodes will randomly be pushed as new episodes into the most recent updated shows stuff making the stuff you actually want be hidden. You can sort by year, but it's by original air date year not episode release year, there are various other pains to deal with when trying to find stuff to watch. Once you actually get to what you want to watch though the streaming itself is actually fine.

that being said if you enjoy the shows funimation picks up, it's a great sub, especially if you like dubs as most of their dubbed shows show up weeks in advance of the dvd release on the site.

That was my biggest issue with the show. It really got bogged down with it. Then the ending which is good, and then they decide to ruin it with the extra episode.
It's just becomes really stupid when you have about 5 episodes remaining and 2 of them are dedicated to pure romance and nothing else. Really cheesy at that

Hey I take offense to that!
Shiro you are a huge baby. Sorry pal

It's better than 0083's romance.
So i've heard.

You guys have to be the only two people I know that can get bogged down with subplots in a 12 episode series :)
damn right we are. but there is a valid argument to be had. you go to them trying to kill each other and a huge mecha fight to pure nothingness. oh my god it was you in there? oh i love you so much. and then 20 minutes later back to the same i'll kill you zeon and then another 20 minutes later, i love you so..

soo so so so so so bad

Serio. Plus neither of those subplots are worse than Gundam Wing's "Heero is such a bad and mysterious boy, I bet I can change him" subplot.
i'll admit thats bad but because its stretched out over 45 episodes i don't mind it nearly as much as something with 12 episodes. episodes running out and so far no plot development. just some tears and a few kisses

Stretched over 49 episodes but pretty much reminded about it every single episode + tons of filler/flashbacks. And then, HEERO HAS FEELINGS! xD

0080, 08th MS Team, and 0083 are just mini series Although, the romance part of 08th MS Team is pretty much the plot (lovers who are on opposite factions). 0083 is alot more interesting (better death scenes, better mechs, and deals with the whole nemesis subplot with a dash of lame romance) imo.

I only protect Wing because it was my first Gundam series and Duo Maxwell was a God to me. I would watch the show then play Battle Assault 2 afterwards.

I suppose 08ths main plot is its romance. 0083 ill stream since its damn near impossible to collect.

Up on Poppy hill has been about $12.50 at least twice this year.
I didn't know :(

Bebop blu may be on sale. DVDs are as cheap as ever. If you really want Champloo look out on eBay for some people listing the Anime Classics version. I got mine for 12 bucks last February. Slightly used in that one of the discs has a scratch but it had the slipcover and did not reek of smoke.
Thanks for the infoz bro!

Just a heads up for HS DxD fans.

via WTK

"RACS: High School DxD New BD/DVD LE is sold out & FUNimation won't be making any more copies."

Glad I got mine. RightStuf still has these in at $41.99, so order now while you can! It's #1 best seller in Anime on AMZ now ($63 though) and my store didn't get any copies in (alt version or LE), so stock is low and moving!
Thanks to Kira @ br.com

Funny you should mention that. I took out my old copy of Battle Assault 2 last week and have been playing it non-stop. Best Gundam game ever. Though Encounters in Space is a blast too.

Incidentally, anyone still looking for Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Battle 22 for the PS1 can score a brand-new factory sealed copy for $7.48 with prime. It's a pretty terrible game, but years ago I would play it for hours on end since -- at the time -- it was the only DBZ PS1 game available (aside from Final Bout, which was a worse game and cost a small fortune circa 2003).

22 bucks shipped. Not too bad. Still keep your eyes peeled. Great series. Lots of funny moments to be had. Blends hip hop and samurai together so perfectly. The trailers don't do it justice. Some of the fights are pretty badass as well.

I still have my copy. It's an amazing game. Still play it from time to time on the PS3. I could never make it pass arcade because of the final boss. It was so fun unlocking everything. They even got the OG voice actors for everything. Great graphics. Such awesome combos and the theme song was so badass.

Personally I can't find the energy to give two shits about anything Robert has to say about anime, or anything else that typically spews out of his dirty whore mouth.
Dude has burned so many people that I can't dare ever think of supporting him and his mountain of lies. Also his shit is super expensive not to mention shipping. The fact that you pay top dollar and it comes looking like donkey shit is the worst part. I'll never forget the infamous. I sold out of all the parts so I decided to give up mine. That and his rants or newsletters so to speak.

haha, I was thinking the same thing when I saw it was RACS. So I guess we should all take it with a grain of salt.

Whelp, that sucks. I remember it being really bad on the site back when I was watching a lot of Fairy Tail at work. Funimation needs to hire more guys to develop the Elite service. Especially with these "speed dubs" (as I'm calling them) they probably want to show off the service more rather than revealing on how clunky and unorganized it is to new customers or people on free trials.

I bought Battle Assault 1 & 2 new. 2 is pretty solid. I actually have Encounters in Space on my shelf and I still have never played it, lol.

Oh, and UB22 is garbage. Don't even buy it to put on your shelf or to enforce your fandom. It's better off staying in the warehouse/the seller.

agreed dbz games on ps1 blew save for final bout which still was bad lol. ps2 dbz was amazing. budokai, tenkaichi and the like were awesome. used to have tournaments at my house. no one could match by ssj2 gohan power. then ps3 came in and save for raging blast all of the dbz games have sucked. hopefully xenoverse is good. so far im impressed. everything looks and sounds awesome.

also please localize more gundam games. dynasty warriors gundam games don't scratch the itch

Weirdly enough, I found Vol. 6 of the new DBZ bluray releases on sale at Best Buy for $15 last weekend. Saw it when I went looking for Maou-sama/Devil is a Part-Timer.

It was only that one too. Vol. 1-5 were regular price.

Also with regards to TRSI, i'm going to be so broke this year from the sales lol. I'm two months ahead on bills so I just keep getting paychecks of money to just store up! Gonna make a list soon and check regularly.

It's true that the DW Gundam games don't scratch the itch either.

Speaking of that, I eventually have to check all of my single volumes of Crest/Banner of the Stars, Code Geass, Gundam 00, and Escaflowne to see which ones are boots.  @.@   The legendary DiscFarm CDs oh my!

I'm probably going to have to eye some of them again.

Shiro you are a huge baby. Sorry pal
Sorry, but someone told me being a whiny baby is a requirement for being a Gundam protagonist.

I enjoyed 0083 a lot too. Appreciated it even more after finally getting a chance to watch Zeta Gundam.

Man I loved Encounters in Space. It introduced me to the badassness of Johnny Ridden and Shin Matsunaga.

That doesn't feel like a MEGA deal
Yeah, I could have sworn I've seen Appleseed a lower price before.

Uh...was Domon Kasshu ever a "whiny baby"?

Not really. But I'm mainly referring to the Univeral Century timeline. Got to say though, out of all the non-UC Gundam I enjoyed G-Gundam the most. It was ridiculous, but the characters were great.

0083's problem was that all the side characters were interesting, but the two main characters were whiny and unlikable. It also didn't help that Kou destroyed more Gundams than any other main character except Domon.

The whole "whiny protagonist" thing is mainly because of people trying to copy Amuro and Kira, despite those two having actual legitimate reasons for it and growing out of it around mid-series.

Did rightstuf's go anime deal w/ 12 months of jump go on sale last black Friday? Can't remember. I've never bought a translated light novel, do they typically go on sale (specifically spice and wolf)?

You could have nabbed all three dual audio LEs for $30 on eBay. I frequently see it at that price.

Shakugan no Shana: The Movie (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)

6.49 shipped from Clover Media.
Thank you sir!

i checked and there was nothing. oh well. this seemed a better deal. it doesn't matter to me as long as it isn't a boot
Yea, imo you overpaid. You can even get the DVD version of the Aniplex LE (comes with series, movies, and CDs) for $75 used). Gurren Lagann usually goes for pretty cheap. The value of the series went down too with all the bootlegs going around.

for roughly 30 bucks i'll be getting the entire series and one of the cds. while you probably could find it at 75 i haven't found anything and i doubt you will. not sure where you're finding all of this but on every site i've been gurren lagann is everything but cheap. all the volumes are pretty expensive and the aniplex stuff is even more expensive. it is what it is

eBay and Amazon. If you are only looking at Buy It Nows then sure you will have to wait a little longer to nab one (because of all the sniping). But auctions frequently end at that price. See it on Amazon alot for that price too (of course gone within minutes). But then again, the anime market is weird at times. I remember I sold my Bandai LE for $150 and then the week after saw it being sold for $40 lol.

exactly. i don't have nearly enough time to devote to sniping or waiting for listings to go up. rn everything is at 140-200. i am seeing the movies for less than 30 but if they're just a retelling of the series then I won't buy them. 30 bucks isn't bad. volume 3 alone the double disc set sells for over 30 bucks along with single disc set. volume 1 is dirt cheap and volume 2 is a little hard to find. regardless i'm glad i get to own the series in its glory and not in a boot

Is this High School DxD Vol. 1 a manga or a light novel? Reviews call it a book, while others a manga (it's priced the same as YP's Accel World light novel). The description sure is vague. I know Yen Press is releasing light novels, but they do a terrible job of differentiating between their manga and light novels.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0316407364/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
It's the manga. They haven't picked up the light novels yet.

Added this to the OP as it is going to be getting busier in the thread with the deals, and some people .........going off topic very frequently. Please abide by this, and happy deal hunting everybody!

**Please keep all discussion in this thread strictly related to anime and manga deals and anything of the like. I am glad you were able to get a good deal on something, and happy you are supporting the industry, but please take any discussion that is not relevant to this thread to the Anime & Manga discussion thread. We don't need to hear updates on every single thing you buy, and what or when it is coming in. Thank you**

Is the 3 wave sale replacing the 12 of sales at Rightstuf? Kinda disappointing if it is.
The 3 waves are the sales that occur prior to the start of the 12+ sale, so it will not affect anything with the 12+ sales.

They've always had a sale leading up to the 12+, and as the years went on it started to evolve into waves, and starts earlier, and earlier each year.
