I've been Snakeybroing a ton of shit this sale, but it definitely lacked any true deals.  I was happy This War of Mine hit 25% off so I ould finally buy it.  Was hoping for the same from DayZ.  Oh Well.

Best thing about this sale is when it ends it'll clear up a lot of clutter and we won't miss the real deals from GMG, Nuuvem, Glitchersgate, Newegg, etc.

Why am thinking maybe I need these in future when I don't even have an android.
I have delusions of getting a Shield one day, when the price is right.

For Posterity

I thought I was voting for the obvious loser.
I am completely perplexed by the voting outcomes from the sale. Steam community truly is a RNG.

Maybe?

I haven't been paying attention, but I don't think South Park Pinball was on sale earlier. Not that it's really on sale now either, but...
Thanks! This table wasn't even on my radar. ...must hold out for a bigger discount.

No surprise.

Not only does the Steam Sale disappoint, but Steam Community even disappoints w/ their votes for what deal Community Choice gets the extra discount.
This has been the case ever since they introduced voting. Sure, Borderlands 2 again. Why not.

Especially infuriating when a game I want loses the vote and then never shows up again. Like Invisible Inc!

Picked up Ridge Racer Complete and glad I did. Installed immediately and was having fun fragging other cars. Thats the type of racing game I like, not driving around in a circle gearhead crap.

There's a solid explanation for:

The dev of that is "Darthmod" -- a well respected modder in the Total War community, with particularly good AI mods.

I guess KRZ and pigeon-sex fans were already served.

So, I bought Ridge Racer ages ago (probably from Amazon).

I'm missing all of the DLC. Why didn't they discount any of the DLC? It's crazy!
IIRC I grabbed complete from Steam for $12.50 two years ago.

"Let's fuck early buyers" is the cool thing now.
It's called Early Access. Unbeknownst to us, we've had it for years now. DLC bundles are discounted more than DLC alone because the game is complete and therefore those who buy it now have missed out on the opportunity to play it for all those months/years before. You should be happy you were allowed to play the game before someone else did. That is a valuable thing.

How come some of you guys don't like buying DRM free games? Can't you just add them to your steam client?
Insert any of the over-used + typical MysterD rants of the following here:

Steam vs. other clients (Origin, UPlay, etc) vs. DRM-FREE;

Benefits of Steam-versions;
and anything else you can think of that's long-winded that would normally come out of my mouth, when I post.

EDIT:

Oh I thought by adding it to Steam you'd still have access to it's features. I guess that makes sense
No, no, no!

When adding Non-Steam games to Steam - you do NOT get auto-updates, Steam time-tracking, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, Steam Back-Up, and numerous other Steam-version features.

You'd get whatever so-called benefits the version you get nets you from that client (if it uses one) - and that's it.

One of the few things you will get if you add a Non-Steam version to Steam is you can still take Screenshots + can add those to Steam; and you can see your Steam Friends List.

Dammit MysterD you almost made a concise post about DRM but then you had to go edit and ruin it.

I have to echo most people's sentiments that this is the most depressing, disappointing Steam sale ever.  At the start of this sale, I had 33 items on my wishlist.  I now have 32 items on my wishlist.  Not a single one of them ever reached 75%.  And it's not like I've got these AAA big-budget blockbusters that just came out last month on my list.  I mean, seriously, Final Fantasy 8 came out over a year ago and has hit 66% off in the past, but this sale, only reached 50%.  The Descent trilogy only makes it to 50%.  The two ObsCure games and Ikaruga, not even on sale at all.  Ugh.  I broke my rule of only buying games that are both under $5 and 75% or more off by picking up Melody's Escape at 25% just because I've been itching to play it for a year.  Just my luck, it'll be bundled before this time next year.  *Sigh*  Rant over.

I was actually okay with this sale for the most part. Picked up a lot of stuff, but hardly anything that was featured. Was really hoping Rayman Origins would get a larger discount, but it never seems to go more than 40 off on Steam...might just pick it up anyway.

Got Hero Siege, Ghostbusters, Super Meat Boy, Blood Omen 2: LoK, Darksiders II/DLC, Walking Dead S2, Saints Row IV, Bulletstorm, Rush, Kairo, Dark Messiah Might/Magic, How to Survive, and Puzzle Agent 2 from Steam. Was also gifted a few others from Steam. Outside of Rayman, I was disappointed some older games didn't get larger discounts. If I'm being realistic, though, most games I want weren't going to be featured anyway.

The Summer sale will be completely different.  I'll be wishing Grand Theft Auto 5 was lower priced instead  of Watch Dogs.  Completely different.  :)

The haul:

Steam Store:

Yar's Revenge (Auction)

Prison Architect Name in Game Upgrade

Bit.Trip Collection

Fortune Summoners

Nuuvem:

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Saw

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD

Lego The Hobbit

Scribblenauts Unmasked

GreenManGaming:

Wolfenstein: The New Order

GamersGate:

Kick-Ass 2

And a bunch of indie bundle crap.

So what, no more voting? :(
This is how the sale ends, not with a bang but a whimper. Also, with a fair amount of bitching and some "haul" posts.

Hey, remember when the Steam sales would generate so much thread traffic that you'd need to start a new thread for the sale and close it out and the end of the sale? And if you spent an hour away from the forum you might as well not even try to follow the twenty pages of new posts you missed?

I'm pretty disappointed that even though the Assassin's Creed games are in the encore sale the price on Black Flag went up from when it was on sale earlier. I passed on it earlier in the sale when I still had hope that there be good deals on other stuff I wanted. As it became clearer and clearer that wasn't going to be the case I actually started to look forward to encore day in order to grab Black Flag. Now I see Black Flag is only 50% off instead of the 75% off it was when it was on sale. They even managed to fuck up encore day.

The only possible good thing that can happen on an encore day is a price glitch.

Hey, have you - or anyone else here, for that matter - actually played this yet?

I'm curious...if it's actually decent.
I have played a small bit of it about an hour and a half. First impresion is that if you like the Saw movies you may be able to get into this. It has a few familiar death traps as well as some new ones. One annoying bit so far in having to pass a QTE at almost every door you open to not get your face blasted off by a shotgun trap. There are combat parts so it's not just running from puzzle trap to puzzle trap. Most of what I've seen though has been melee combat using lead pipes and other improvised weapons. One puzzle I had a problem with because Jigsaw kind of explained it in a bit of a vague way. I ended up having to google it. The storyline is on par with the movies as it only serves the purpose of funneling the player from trap to trap. Jigsaw is voiced by the same guy at least. Trying to do some of the tasks can be a pain in the ass like picking locks seemed overly complicated and inconsistent. They also rehash some of the stuff from the movies like when you have to stick your arm down a toilet filled with dirty syringes. If you are a fan of the films though I would say you might have an interesting time with it. If you were never a fan of the movies I don't think this will change your mind about the franchise much.

I do think the lack of extra traffic is odd. Just last year I would miss several hundred more posts per day at work than I do now. Honestly I think this is only partly attributable to the sale itself...regardless of how poor it may be, the excess traffic came from newbies who didn't know what a good deal was or how a steam sale works. So many "should i buy (insert game here) even though it's only fifty percent off and hasn't been featured yet?" or "will (insert game here) go on sale? what percentage is it going to be off for?" posts. Given the nature of these questions I anticipated seeing them again regardless of how good the sale is or isn't. Not sure why there weren't more seasonals.

Not that I'm complaining.

If only your vocabulary included more than "if only, 75% off and DRM Free"
The chances of that happening are about the same as you not commenting on my posts and not attempting to troll me...

...which is basically NEVER.

If I did change, you'd basically run out of material and schtick.

Many some gamers are deciding to not buy stuff and actually are trying to finally make at least some kind of dents in their backlog...
