Were those the ones that were like an extra long flash deal down below the encore dailies? It was confusing I agree, but I think those were always meant to end today. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that. I know they were in a different section than the big box o'encore daily deals.
Yeah, I think those were dailies from two days ago and not part of the two days of encore deals so they expired at noon today.

Also, I heard they contracted out to have the PC port done so it might now be quite as sucky as the one they did. Of course I didn't actually play it from Gala or anything, so just repeating what I read. *shrug*

You're right. I bought Child of Light a few hours before the sale was meant to end.. it was a "flash" deal. They changed how flash deals work for this sale, and made them last 24 hours, I believe.

I picked it up some years back, when Steam had a Christmas sale.
Yeah, but I didn't want it back then. And my DeLorean is in the shop.

{Stupid hindsight.}

No.

GMG requires Capsule.
I actually don't mind Crapsule. It's completely unnecessary, but also innocuous.

Weird, it doesn't show up for me.
Look harder.

I've been eyeing that damned game for years to get it on Steam in spite of owning it from some old ass Gala bundle that didn't give a Steam key because reasons. And pizza pie. And cannelloni.

As near as I can tell, only Steam sells the Steam version and it never goes dirt cheap there. It's always cheaper than a two dollar whore at Greenman but is a total cock tease because it's got two STDs, crapsule and Securom.
Damn it. Oh well, I just bought it from GMG for the time being to prevent further future disgust in case if they ever raise their price. If it goes on sale on Steam, I'll just make my cats skip a meal.

That's why the smart people won it in the action for the price of a few unwanted emoticons.
fuck you.

Make no mistake, From Soft's games have always been on the janky, cult-classic side of the gaming spectrum. They just got really lucky with Dark Souls. I mean hell, this is the same company that made Steel Battalion for Kinect.

I liked Ninja Blade well enough when I played it on xbox 360, enough that I bought it from the panda peddler back when that was still a thing. Although I have no idea how the PC port is. Avoid if you have any level of hatred for QTE's.

Oh and I'm pretty sure the shitty GMG version was even given away for free at one point.

If I had a time machine, I'd go back in time to buy hundreds of Ninja Blade steam copies when it was cheap, and then give it away to people that didn't buy it. That'll show you, The End!

Steamworld Dig
Could I have Steamworld Dig?

I can't believe it's only been a couple weeks since Valve removed cross region trading, and I've already fallen back into my old habit of buying stuff well below the 75% off or better threshold.

This might be the one time in memory where Valve's plans actually worked out. Bastards.

Would appreciate some advice from the professional CAG's.  I may want to pick up the Dragon Age games some time next year, but I'm clueless on what price to buy at and dlc packages.  What's a good price to pick up DAO: Ultimate Edition at and would it matter if I owned it on Steam or Origin?  In regard to DA2, is there a full edition available or would I have to buy the dlc separately?  If separately, is there a good price point to buy at?  Thanks.

Always buy complete editions when you can, more so EA nonsense. They'll ream you otherwise. Preference on where is just that, preference. Find the best deal and play, that's my opinion (non-hater of Origin).

No full edition for 2 and the DLC never goes on sale so don't get your hopes up for that.

For Origins Ultimate try not to pay more than $7.50, though I believe it's been as low as $5 if you don't need it on Steam. If you get it on Steam you can also in turn activate it to Origin and own in it both places like many EA games on Steam but that's optional. Owning it on Steam doesn't really make a difference other than having it with the bulk of the rest of your game collection but you can't get the other two games in the series on Steam anyway so eh.

DA2 I'd say go for it at $5 but no more. You can't buy it on Steam anymore so wherever you get it it will be an Origin code. If you want the DLC you will unfortunately need to deal with that Bioware points BS. Don't expect a deal. Ever.

You can consult ITAD for best pricing:

http://isthereanydeal.com/#/search:dragon%20age;/scroll:%23gamelist

About Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 - there is currently No Complete Edition for those. BioWare Points are what you need to buy to get any of the DLC's. Sorry, but BioWare + EA sells DLC at Premium. Only other place selling it is Amazon DVG - and they hardly have sales on it. :(

Future BioWare games won't use BioWare Points, though. Get the DLC on Origin. And likely, most BioWare games will require Origin - so those won't be on Steam.

If you buy DAO: Ultimate on Steam - then, you can take the game's "CD key" and ALSO activate that version on Origin. You probably should go Ultimate on DAO - since DAO is great; Awakening is quite good; and DLC's like the one about Shale is important (b/c it's a main part of the game and he's a good party member); and also both Leilana's Song + Witch Hunt DLC's are good.

100% Orange Juice.

Don't think I need to explain it :)

i was looking at Final Fantasy 13. I went back and forth on buying it. Yes, no, yes, no.. Then I looked at the download size. Like 50 gigs. Uh, no thanks. I'm not going to cripple my internet for like two days straight just to get a game. 50 gigs is only a bit short of the entire install size. Haven't they ever heard of compression?

Heck, I give serious consideration before buying a 18 or 20 gig download. 50 is way out there in "NO" land.
OMG, I live in the sticks and only have 1.5Mbit. ... I have no idea how long this would take me to download. New Years Resolution (for me)... find better internet!

Two days straight??!?!

What are you using for downloading? DSL?

I remember the days when it took me as many as hours as it did GB's to download, back with DSL.

Doing GTA4 PC was the end of it for me - and it was time to move on + get faster connection, since those 15 GB took me approx. 15 hours to download. That was the last straw for me.

I have Comcast Blast here - and yeah, it's tons faster. IIRC, it took about 1 hr + a half or so to download FFXIII PC.

I need to get back to that game sometime.

EDIT:

You might wanna avoid Titanfall PC (req. Origin) until you go faster, as well - it's also around 50GB.
I'd be taking days and days.

I figure it would take me 35 to 40 hours to download FF13. That's if everything went perfectly and I didn't use even one drop of extra bandwidth for anything else.

I have 3mbps internet. I only get somewhere between 2.6 and 2.8 though. The best I can get unless they ever move one of their stations/boxes closer to me. I'm maybe a thousand feet too far away to get 6mbps. I'm lucky to have 3 since I live out in the sticks.

We can't all live in the city where 50 mbps rains down like manna from heaven. :) Kind of a moot point though I guess since I have zero interest in living anywhere near a city.
I don't live in an actual town.. just in a county somewhere... and I still want to be further away from people.

Did you miss the entire winter sale? Cuz that's what it sounds like..
To be honest, Kenshindono you missed several days of disappointment. ...and you get to enjoy the Encore.

To be honest there are 2-3 titles I planned to Encore, and the deals did not return! Gaa! Assassin's Creed - Pirates, Murdered Soul Suspect & the new splinter cell game.

Yeah, usually my approach is just a judgment call. If i recognize you i'll give you the game.

Meh, everybody is new at some point. If you stick with it long enough (like even a month is long enough where people will start to recognize your name) you'll get plenty of free games. Besides...there's no way of telling which new users/low reps are "on the up and up" and which ones are just in it to take a free game and stay silent til another drop gets on the board. To me if you expect people to give you things you should be willing to stay around until people get to know you. Why should I give my games that I paid for to a stranger when there's a whole board of people who post everyday? Like I said above, I typically (depending on my mood) just give games to people I recognize, and have at times in the past noted in my drop that I reserve the right to not give you a game if I have no idea who you are or you just started posting like a day ago. I prefer using a judgment call to post limit because then you can include people who contribute and are recently active in the community but don't have 300 or 500 posts or whatever. Maybe its a bit of an ass way of doing it, but it's my game that I paid for. I'm not giving it to some stranger who plans on dropping in and out of threads to vulture things.
I'll be at 500 posts one day with my aggressive 1 post per 3 days.

I do think its odd that they made the Souls series and then basically nothing else worth looking at. After playing Dark Souls I looked into them to see if they had anything else that was good...nothing caught my interest outside of possibly King's Field, although those games are so dated at this point they're not worth playing. Had no idea they made Steel Battalion, lol.

Edit: Thought I'd mention that the Mass Effect Trilogy is ten bucks at Gamestop and Dragon Age Ultimate Edition is five bucks. I'm not sure what the lowest price is for either of those, but those are good deals, regardless. They both activate on Origin though.

Part of it is that it used to be that much of the non-AAA or featured indie stuff would just be 75% off for the duration of the winter sale, but that's not the case anymore. Even indies and small publishers are doing lesser or even no sales in many cases.

Also the constant Steam weekly sales, ridiculously amount of bundles these days coupled of with influx of crap indie junk from Greenlight and shovelware 'classic' games from publisher back catalogs has really lessened the whole 'hidden gem' thing from past years.

As it stands, most of the stuff deeply discounted is the stuff that's always deeply discounted. And a lot of the (admittedly subjective) quality stuff isn't.

The closest thing to a 'hidden gem' sale this year was the gem auction. There were some hidden gems there where you could get some decent but relatively obscure games that rarely or never go on a deep sale and haven't been bundled cheap. But you had to dig for those and it wasn't in anyone's best interest to announce them either because that would just get more people bidding against you and drive the price up.
The gem auction was great, but it was a lot of work (to win 140 of them *cough cough*)!

Has anyone played The Forest or The Long Dark? Both seem pretty interesting. Trying to decide what to spend my Gaben bucks on
The Forest is great fun, but it can be janky as hell. They update it fairly frequently, so it's a pretty good bet that it'll eventually be a pretty awesome game. Though it is already fun to run around and build effigies and houseboats!

So it'll be at a lower price you predict? Hm, how intriguing. What of Dungeon of the Endless?
I like the way you post. I would read a book written by you.

Next time there's a big code drop with indie gala links, I'm gonna change my steam name to Jflux98 and then grab all the games. Who'll know the difference?
