[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

How many coins do you get for the New 3DS? How many did people in foreign countries get?
The answer to both of these questions is a big fat ZERO.

Guess I gotta hit up Gamestop one last time to be ready for Club Nintendo final showdown. Have at thee.

I just saw the news, this sucks. I gotta figure it's a use or lose situation with the club nintendo codes. Why bother doing a relaunch if the coins still work the same? Also of note: "Nintendo will add a number of physical reward options for members in February.

Edit: timetable from the kotaku article

April 1st 2015: From this date, Nintendo will no longer include product registration cards with its packaged games, so such products cannot be registered in Club Nintendo. You may still find product registration cards in games that were in stock before this date, however.

April 20th 2015: Termination of the registration of digital products downloaded from Nintendo eShop. Digital products obtained from Nintendo eShop after this date will no longer appear in the My Registered Games & Systems page in Club Nintendo. In addition, surveys for download software titles will no longer be available.

September 30th 2015: End of Club Nintendo programme. All Club Nintendo features, such as signing up as a new member, logging in as a registered member, earning Stars, and exchanging Stars for items from the Stars Catalogue will no longer be possible from this date.

Oops, that was nintendo of Europe

Important Information on Club Nintendo Program Discontinuation
Dear Club Nintendo Members,

Thank you for your continued loyalty to Nintendo.

We launched Club Nintendo 6 years ago in North America, and we’re grateful for all of the feedback that our members have provided on your experiences with our products.

In order to focus on planning for a new customer loyalty program for our fans, we’ve decided to wind-down the Club Nintendo program. We are deeply thankful to our members for being a part of Club Nintendo for all of these years.

We will share details about our new program at a later date. For now, please see the schedule below for information on the discontinuation timeframe for Club Nintendo.

All Coins will be deleted when Club Nintendo accounts are closed on July 1, 2015. As a result, to give our members the best opportunity to use their Coins, we will add dozens of downloadable games and a limited quantity of exclusive reward items to the rewards catalog in February. In addition, as a small token of appreciation for your loyalty, all Club Nintendo members will receive a free download code for Flipnote Studio 3D in February 2015. Please visit here for information on the software and how to get the download code.

2015 Elite Status

This sucks, I like the club nintendo program. Well I just ordered an extra 3ds game case I wasn't planning on getting. Guess I should start adding coins I've been saving for future platinum status in anticipation of something good in Feb.

Ok if codes wont be in the games anymore, how the fuck are they going to know I got the game?

I always thought they should do something along achievements. Base the prizes and shit with achievements. This guarantees that people who play the games are actually getting the good prizes.

I feel like they are going to just go with full digital items rewards that maybe changes more often, or dlc options.

I don't know but let's see what they offer in February, hopefully something rare.

My body is ready.

wow, time to get all the points i can out of my games, some of which I haven't even played yet!  Here's to 10 copies of excitebike and yoshi's cookie!

Now the problem will be if they put something good up that is a lot of points, do you take it, or wait thinking something even better will come up.

Mmm... so do you think there'll be anymore physical rewards? I might grab a poster set. I've still got 1350 after grabbing a shirt.
From the ClubNintendo website:

"All Coins will be deleted when Club Nintendo accounts are closed on July 1, 2015. As a result, to give our members the best opportunity to use their Coins, we will add dozens of downloadable games and a limited quantity of exclusive reward items to the rewards catalog in February."

thank god club nintendo is gone. they lack of physical rewards compared to Europe and Japan made NA like garbage. now i have 1,500 coins. there have BETTER BE WORTH SOMETHING to get

Well, NOA didn't say anything about this but the NOE press release mentioned this.

New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL

These new handheld systems, which will be released on February 13th 2015, are not registerable in Club Nintendo. However, hardware bundles will still include a product registration card for the included software until April 1st 2015, so software bundled with hardware can still be registered until September 30th 2015
So most likely no coins for our New 3DSXL in america. I guess it time to register my ALBW XL.

Damn, was planning on getting another game case withh points from the New 3DS. It's gonna be tough to come up with 200 more points through trades.

Yeah, glad to see our free rewards program is gone so I can get nothing for my purchases instead of a pittance.

Guess I'm going to be VERY busy registering hundreds more coins over the next month.  At least I don't feel so bad about being 1000 points over Platinum this year.

Well another program is coming after CN closes its door and hey, don't forget about your old pal Ley Lines if you have any Club Nintendo codes you don't need. ;)

I have 4 sealed games I still need to register, but I just redeemed some games and codes I've been holding onto. When all is said and done I should have about 1400 points to spend. Hopefully they release some decent digital games and physical items. Not holding out too much hope though.

Ugh, now I have to go thru all of my games to find all the ones I havent registered yet. Maybe they finally add some good rare physical rewards in Feb.

I think I'll wait a week before starting to unload everything. So far, I either own or don't want all the digital offerings, and the limited physical items don't interest me.

Plus I still have a 2DS and several games to register, and I'm platinum. Maybe I'll ship my codes to my girlfriend's account and see if I can get her to platinum before this ends.

Super Mario Bros. 2 would have an instant buy but it is for the Wii U and not the 3DS. I am thinking if I want Legend of Zelda or hope next month has my favorite game of all time Super Mario Bros. 3 on sale.

Glad I jumped on that Smash Bros CD offer now, was debating whether I should keep the coins to Plat next year.

Grabbed another 3DS game case this morning in case they sell out, I've got a lot of games to register.  Hope they offer us some good stuff but I wonder how good any physical rewards might be.

Well this sucks, but I can't say I am so surprised after how meh it has been for this and last year.

Guess I will have to dig up and go through the various titles I left unregistered on purpose, and hope they do add some good stuff to spend coins on.

Meh on the free Flipnote Studio 3D, here are some better suggestions(they probably won't do):

1) Let us pick from ANY of their 1st party Virtual Console games

2) Discounts/eShop credit on at least 1st party games

As a result, to give our members the best opportunity to use their Coins, we will add dozens of downloadable games and a limited quantity of exclusive reward items to the rewards catalog in February.
I hope it will be good, but I wonder about the games and my chances of getting any of those "exclusives."

Club Nintendo is shutting down in Europe and JP. I'm guessing NA too. Came out of nowhere.
So it doesn't make it clear if the "new" loyalty program uses the same points. I'm assuming not, but I would think we wouldn't still be seeing points in new releases like we do. Unless it was a really really last minute decision to kill it.

Now I regret opening those backlog games just for points that would still be sealed and worth more if I never have.
Yup, their site is going to be hammered with people registering game after game. I've got thousands of coins worth of games I haven't registered as I usually only register enough to get platinum and I don't download digital games ever -- I was wondering if I should hold on to those for the next "rewards program" but it sounds like its going to be completely revamped so much so that the old codes will be invalid

Now I'm kicking myself that I didn't get the Zelda 3DS case, guess I'll have to buy it on eBay before everyone starts raising their prices cuz it won't be available again.

You know what blows the most about this?  I'm only freakin' 160 coins from Platting this year but because both of the new 3DS' sold out that I wanted I was going to wait to buy.  Now I need to figure out how to get 160 points somewhere.  (sigh)

it looks like the site is starting to glitch out...  Got an error page after submitting postplay a survey, but at least the coins registered.

Hopefully it will at least stay up & stable so I can find and register all my remaining physical games.

Edit:

Well so much for that, looks like the site dead from getting hammered by lots of people like me!

Well, after last year's rewards being all digital, it definitely seemed that Nintendo wanted to save some coins (pun intended)!

This would be their next logical step in reducing costs.

It hurt to read it BUT I am relieved because I have become tired of the chore of completing their surveys (I don't write gibberish when responding).  I mentioned to Nintendo that they may want to make each survey unique, but I guess most people aren't entering as many codes as most of us are =).

I have two accounts but I won't bother with platinum for the second since they confirmed it will just be a digital game.  I'm stocking up the rest of my coins into one account in hopes of a super big finale gift that I hopefully can afford.

Well, time to register the stack of codes I had waiting for the rollover.  Three years in a row I hit Platinum the first day of the new year...

I choose to believe we'll get the DDP back after surveys showed it incentivized purchases. And that they'll put up another batch of Luigi statues as rewards.

Spending my birthday registering CN points. LOL Tempted to get the Pikmin case, although I'm curious to see what they put up next month. Sad to see this go, but not surprised.

If this leads to a Plus/Gold style subscription service, I'm all for ending Club Nintendo for something better.

If not, between this, and ending DDP last month, this sucks. I know most people hated the cutback on physical rewards, but personal, I really liked getting free digital games for basically nothing.

The easy way for Nintendo to do this going forward is some DLC you get via a code in each game sold. That way you promote sales on new games, and they don't have to worry about point hoarders or creating physical items for "later" redemption.

Wow, this is not what I expected to wake up to.

I hope they have this all planned out already because come Feb 13 a lot of us are dropping $300+ and if it doesn't count towards the new system that's really going to suck.

I hope not, I still have like 2-3 years worth of codes for plat status.
No kidding. I've got to find all this stuff and get working.
