So I've been calling my bestbuy everyday this week asking about Little Mac and always the response was either he's not in the system or no new amiibo have come in since last week. So again I call this afternoon asking again about Little Mac and the guy tells me they got a shipment yesterday of 13 and they sold out within 15 minutes cause some guy bought 10 of them. Serously wtf! Everytime i called i politely asked if they could take my name down and set one aside if they got any in. My local bestbuy is doing some shady stuff i think. I bet one of the employees bought those 10.

It wouldn't be surprising. Even employees who know nothing about gaming are probably aware of the rare Amiibos and other Nintendo items by now because of all the people asking about them and lining up before the store opens. If their managers aren't aware or don't care, then there's probably a good chance it happens.

 
Welp. I did it. I just pulled the trigger on a German Villager for $68.59 after shipping. Trying not to think too hard about spending that much money on a $12.99 toy that I dismissed as something that would be plentiful for enough time to wait for a sale like Skylanders or Infinity. Damn shame, especially since I've been an AnCro fan since Population Growing. But I made more than enough PayPal funds for it when I auctioned off a Rosalina + Sheik + Falcon lot, and now I suppose I feel a sense of closure that will only feel better when it arrives and I am finally sitting at a beautiful open 29/29. It's going to feel so good not having to worry about getting extras for trade bait or scouring stores for rumored rares now that I'm riding the glorious Pre-Order Express Train that I should have been on since the beginning.

This thread has been great and it's been a wild and crazy ride, but I'm happy at the end of the day when I come home from work and unwind, I can refresh this page and get updated on how some of my favorite CAGs are doing.

I wish everyone the best of luck on their Amiibo hunting and I look forward to seeing what kind of crazy bullshit we have in store for us yet.

 
Not reading through all these pages. Glad they're doing that again tho I don't wanna have to set up trades and shit. I'd rather buy straight from them. I'll be there nice and early again to collect my spoils. Nintendo fucked up by not having Metaknight tbh.

I know this isn't what you wanna hear right now.. but why? They already said Villager is being reprinted for Japan and how so many foreign Amiibos are being sold in the states, a ton of those are gonna show up in the States and flood the market. You likely would have paid over anyway, but would have paid way less.

No I totally get what you mean, no worries. Same reason I did a two-for-one trade for Marth even though he's coming out in a month or so - I just wanted the closure of having a complete collection. I still might pick up others for customs in the future, or [if Villager gets an NA reprint] complete a US collection, but I just like the idea of not having to worry about it anymore.

I feel you on the one dollar tax premium. However, these were marked down to $10.99 once you applied the re-order code. I'm still bitter TRU canceled my Pit, Little Mac and Ike. Although, this point glitch more than makes up for it. Hopefully, enough CAGers checks their points before they rectify the glitch.

I'm sure this glitch only applied to a small number of people. Certainly didn't hit my account. I'm showing the amiibo purchases but with standard point credit

 
I think its for people that used the code on the $999 rebuy.

In MY case my order for Pit and Lucario were canceled, no code email to re-order or NOTHING. Then one day Pit just shows up at my door. Then a month later Lucario out of NOWHERE. Not sure if i was ever charged for the Pit, but the Lucario charge came a week later after i received the item. It was nice, but something i certainly didn't re-initiate. They be forcing that Lucario on me.

I lucked out on Little Mac. Called local Best Buy a few times and just received "not here yet, try later/tomorrow", then just a "Yeah, they got here. They are sold out"

Oh well

 
spoke to an best buy product availability manager over the phone about little mac(was trying to reserve one in transit lol, unsuccessful). He told me  that mac villager marth are all getting reprints and said to come out April. no exact dates of course. grain of salty oceans. 

 
I really do think a reprint is coming for some characters - specifically Villager and Little Mac. It makes sense.

I stopped trying to trade an arm and a leg for Villager because of this.

 
Just as I figured, Sonic hasn't turned out to be super rare. I've been seeing them popping up in decent amounts these past couple days. I stopped at Meijer on my way home from work for milk a couple days ago at 3am and they had a full peg of him. I went to another Meijer yesterday for some generic Meijer brand cola to mix with my whiskey and they had a few more. Don't pay more than retail for Sonic as places are seeing him popping up. I foresee Megaman being a popular character that should be relatively easy to find once the hype dies down on him and scalpers stop buying ever single one that pops up - just like Sonic

 
Where/how can I be added to the CAG alerts? I have all released NA Amiibos and pre-orders in for the SMB series that had Pre-orders up, but I'm really stressing the Wave 4 pre-orders. Feel free to PM me if needed.

I can totally see your point since he is all that I'm missing too but with an open collection I could definitely wait for that reprint on him or a JP one

Edit: Oh you made the money to pay for him selling extras on eBay... I'm down with that, was thinking of doing the same thing with my old 3ds xl

Japan is supposedly getting a reprint of Villager, Little Mac and Captain Falcon in...May...I believe? Considering the only thing different on the figures is packaging it makes sense that Nintendo would produce some more for other territories. It may be a small numbered reprint but still, I do see it happening.

 
I'm not even sweating wave 4. This whole Amiibo thing has been a rollercoaster ride I have no interest in getting on again. Imagine if Rockstar did this shit with their products. "Here's Grand Theft Auto 6. Better pre-order within these 2.3 minutes or you may never have a chance to get it - EVER". I used to love Nintendo because it's what I grew up on, but now I simply tolerate them because it's no longer about making good products that everyone can enjoy - it's about how frantic they can drive their fanbase before they end up like me (eg. 2006 Wii hysteria, Amiibo BS, ANY Collectors Edition Zelda - games or handhelds, Metroid Prime Trilogy/Xenoblade)
