I have never seen amazon updated their page for preorder late at night for games or anything at all. I thought people were waiting for Toysrus.

I was about to cancel my Greninja at $TRU earlier because $21 for an amiibo is kinda crazy but see this many people going crazy for them makes the extra $7 premium worth it.
Not sure I understand your logic. So paying $7 in shipping for an item wasn't acceptable at first, but then became acceptable because said item is in demand by your peers? So you don't mind paying a high shipping fee because you get to watch people get upset over something you have that they don't?

I see where he is coming from. It wouldnt be worth it if it was say....the rarity of Diddy Kong or Luigi or something. But paying slightly more when you'll have something as rare as Lucario or Rosalina is nice, especially considering how much of a clusterfuck it seems to be securing pre-orders for anything this wave.

Wave 4 has been immaculate best wave thus far IMO. so far everyone who wanted a pre order has gotten one without issue hell there should even be enough lucina to go around for everyone, Bravo!

Nintendo and co have set the bar on how to set up pre purchases on items, Apple should take notes for the iphone 7.

Actually, yeah. Out the FE characters I really don't want any of them. I'm more in it for the thrill and the harder it is to get them, the more it is worth. Why wouldn't I want my stuff to be more valuable?

Not sure why this wave is so stupid....even pre-ordering the entire Wave 3 set at GS was easier. No system crashes, no selling out mid checkout. Just seems like each wave is getting more and more hype and more and more difficult to obtain

Lol tell me about it at this point i refuse to believe that this isnt intentional.

Nintendo went the Jordan route with these amiibos and they arnt stopping, you know its only going to get worse from here. Wave 4 is going to seem like a tea party compared to 5.

And the final one too ,wave full of obsecure characters is gonna be funny to watch

I preordered Ike(supposedly a super rare) at GS just before Christmas and remember seeing Shulk available for weeks. Heck the GS employee try to get me to preorder them week after week and that was before I got into this.

Here in Wave 4 everything is gone within minutes. Pac man lasted an hour and people call him a common. That's right, being available for an 1 hour, not month, not day but an hour constitute him as a common. WTF?! You CANT get any worst than this wave. It's impossible.

It's true though. It's just like iPhones. Release little bits and pieces... get people all worked up where they can't feed their "I WANT IT NOW" monster. Then when the time comes... unload tons of them.

Those who wouldn't buy certain ones, have to buy them all, not knowing if they will be rare or not. Because honestly, when they hit the shelves and people see lots of one kind, they don't even bother buying it. It's all about the scarcity.

It's brilliant marketing.

until wave 5 :whee: :whee:
by then North American hunters will be planning cross contonental trips across Euroasia to get thier amiibos. Not even import sites are gonna cut it.

Get your plane tickets now before scalpers buy out all the plane tickets!

Hope you guys are also multilingual cause North America is only gonna get like 2 amiibos tops, eh 3 if we're lucky and ROB robot will be Nintendo World Exclusive cause why not?

I think they've pushed that a little bit too far now though, they're just frustrating people out of collecting now.

Some maybe, but at the same time, gaining far more new collectors. And selling out in a couple minutes doesn't sound like a sales issue to me. They are doing just fine.

if you type amiibo into google your first results are not info on the product from nintendo but a slew of articles explaining how rare and hard to find each wave is or will be. The cluster mess at gamestop yesterday, the late night selling out in minutes is because the shortage is so well known. i know i'm just reiterating what we all know but still feel it has to be said, this beast of pr is what is killing this silly little toy for people who want it.

side note, and if already been said but could you imagine if they put out a new mario rpg with amiibo use, with stat tracking or use done through the figure... is there a difference between printing money and growing a tree that blooms money to nintendo?

I'm almost to the point where I might ebay my collection. This is taking far too much time to keep up with
I thought about it all day today and figured it was time for me to stop. It was fun in the begging, but now it's just a race against time. Having almost a month to pre-order them was great for me since I'm on a busy schedule. Now they sell out within minutes and I'm either in class or asleep.

I do wonder if this time around stores are purposely letting less be preordered so more stores have stock of these. Stores want ppl to come in looking for these and get stuff while there, not having wave 3 in some stores lowered that. In other words im hoping online preorders are like 1/4 the actually stock and another 3/4 are going to the actual store.

I doubt it. Maybe Target's Jigglypuff, but GS and TRU seem to be overwhelmed. It won't be any better than when Wave 3 was released.

But we can hope.

I agree. Making it a store exclusive and be completely ordered online defeats the marketing purpose of it. They want you to come into their store and see it.

Also, look at how many Rosalina's were in stores. We had some stores in my area that had 40.

Yes but no wave has gone away in a day prior to this which seems odd as if stores are trying to avoid over selling preorders like wave 3. TRu and gamestop got some heat in stores not getting ike and dedede preorders etc and tru messing up online orders over and over etc. I think both stores maybe attempting to sell some online slowly possibly like walmart and gold mario or hold a good amount for instore.

Ya that was my point.

So your plan is to wait 5-10 years or more (IF the next system somehow doesn't use amiibos which it probably will so more like at least 10-15 years)
It is that type of thinking that is feeding into this frenzy, which is perfectly normal for a new hot 'toy.' I believe you exaggerate your time-frames. It's a fad to buy up these amiibos, and I am not saying they will be worthless. Simply, down the road, I am saying they will be worth less. A new "cool thing" will come out and those will be popular, and these amiibos will seem like an after-thought.

I hope Nintendo continues to use amiibos because the company is likely to use previous molds than to design new ones. In addition, if new molds are created, then five versions of Marth will drag down prices of all Marths (with a possible exception of a 'rare' one) because it is likely only one variation of Marth is needed to actually play an amiibo-compatible game.

Anyways, I just don't see the reason to pay $100 for an amiibo or whatever the going rate is on a rare or hot amiibo. Although, I do not fault or discourage other people from doing so. Nintendo is already reproducing older amiibos in the U.S. and Japan, so it is simpler to just wait. Again, it is a fad, and I believe they are collectible, but just not sustainable at these levels.

Currently, I have one amiibo: Mega Man that I bought a regular price. I bought some other amiibos at regular price and have since sold them off waiting to buy them back at or above retail, but less than I sold them for when they were hot. I am patient and will get more 'fair' prices on amiibos as they come up.

At the same time, the craze has intensified several fold since December/January. People didn't really start getting into this by the boat loads till end of January into February.

As I said before, I do believe only Target is doing it that way, like with Rosalina, but like with her, it probably only extends to their exclusive item and that's it. But combining the shitload of more people since Feb 1st, and the weather now being fine compared to 0-5 degree weather back then will probably still make Jigglepuff hard to obtain. I don't doubt it'll probably be the best stocked.

Also, I don't think Walmart planned to do waves of their Gold Mario preorders. It seemed like every time there was a mass cancellation, more would go up. On day one, people were talking about having ordered 30-40 on one account, which were all cancelled, freeing up inventory. This continued till release.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I think if you really want to help the situation, you need to eliminate preorders and just release the product in-store. Every company is so invested in dot com that it won't happen but why not drive traffic to your store rather than overwhelm a system you know can't handle the traffic and make a mockery of it all? Get people lined up like the old days and limit stock to 1 of each character per person.

I'm getting so fucking tired of TRU.  Greninja, Charizard, and Wario all have the "Add to Cart" button.  Just leads to an empty cart with the URL stating an SKU error.  Kept happening all day yesterday too.

I was able to lock down Charizard & Wario.  A few min later Greninja was in my cart, but in the time it took me to log into the reward site to get a $5 cert, it had already sold out again.

Oh well, I used a $30 cert on the Charizard & Wario (and the cheapest random figure i could find) so all I had to pay was S&H costs

Amibo hunting is not worth depriving your health and vital sleep cycle. I feel sorry for everyone here that has been losing sleep over these stupid things. Nintendo is a pretty rude company.

Ah, so when it's been happening it is possible to buy them (though god knows if they'll actually honor them...). Good to know it's not entirely glitched to hell and back, just mostly...

Yeah, cant understand why people who stay up all night long with hopes of getting a toy. The worst part is that most already have them POed elsewhere. People's time must not be worth anything.

i really hope nintendo have all pre-ordered numbers and full fill everyone orders. please print 2x or 3x more to put on the retailers for all the fans missed pre order window or can't get it.

When are the pre-order times for wave 4 at the following locations:

Walmart

Target

Newegg

Amazon

Has anything even been announced?
