Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

I pop in freezing vibration yesterday and before I knew it I was changing to disc 2 then it was over. That show is the first to make me watch it all in one sit through it was that damn good.
Wow nice. I bought S1 during black friday. I need to get to it soon. I've been going on an anime binge lately and catching up on a lot of shows. Finished No Game, No Life last night, and started Arpeggio of Blue Steel this morning.

I am curious where they will go with it. Goku literally cannot get any stronger and he is literally the strongest person in the universe who is not a God.
I'm avoiding spoliers for the new movie, but no, Goku wasn't the strongest at the end of Battle of the Gods. Plus at the end of their fight Beerus said something about there being other parallel universes (9 or 12 of them I forget which lol) with stronger fighters. His attendant was from one of those (and is supposed to be stronger than Beerus). I thought it was obvious back then that statement was made to springboard more movies or specials..... never would've guessed we would get a new show though lol. Either way though parallel realities and alternate earths and whatnot appear to be the direction they are headed in.

WhiCh sounds awesome to me lol, Future Trunks was essentially from a parallel Earth so maybe they'll revisit that timeline. And I'm a sucker for Mirror Universe/Earth 3 shenanigans and I'd be interested to see how that played out in a Dragonball setting.

And he can always get stronger lol.

You should avoid spoilers altogether, and use spoiler tags... @_@

I see people are liking the second season of Freezing...so are the first/second seasons worth blind buys? The story any good, or is it mostly fan service?

7 episodes for $90? Don't care how limited that card is, that's insanity.

Still waiting for this on blu ray.. same for Code Geass. I think I'll be waiting forever.
Code Geass however was actually released in Japan on blu ray, so you can expect to see a release at some point in the US given the new owners. Death Note however, I don't believe it EVER got a blu ray release in Japan, so unless they decide to do it (which may be forever!), I wouldn't hold my breath. I'm gonna pull the trigger on the $30 set. I like that price and it's reasonable.

You must be new to Aniplex prices. ;) :)
You must be the one that's new.

The Aniplex that I know is always fair when it comes to pricing with their sets, and always does their best to put as many episodes onto each and every set part of a series, and when it is time to bring us an import they find a way to make it even more affordable by giving us the option to choose between purchasing a standard and a limited edition, and giving me the option to purchase super limited editions that are actually super limited edition just as they had said before, and they would never keep getting more copies even after the super limited time frame to order these editions had already ended.

I suggest you do more research on this wonderful company, and stop hating!

Anybody who believes or agree with anything I said in this post needs to get their head checked.

Anyone here order the Korean Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex sets? My 2nd Gig arrived in LAX this morning and hoping to have it tomorrow. Stoked!

So I can't say for certain due to not owning any of the SAO cards, but the Kill La Kill promo cards were identical to cards found in the normal packs only they had alternate art. So while it was cool promo cards were included I kind of feel like that's kind of a crappy promo card. Granted I still remember the Pokemon promo cards being totally unique cards.

Anyone order the what now?
Just noticed I abbreviated everything lol The Korean Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex sets. They are identical to the JP release but include English subs and are around half of the price. The first set came out over the holidays and 2nd Gig was released earlier this week.

That price is still way too rich for my blood. I've never imported any Asian blu-ray sets because of the insane price, so I'll probably not start now.

Quite a decent sale FUNimation has going there. Too bad I'm way too broke to get anything.

Related, is CHAOS;HEad any good? It sounds really interesting, worth buying or should I watch it elsewhere?

Lastly, I have some anime I'm looking to part with. PM if interested/offer, please no lowballing.

When They Cry (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni) Geneon 6 DVD Set, Elfin Lied Blu Ray Set (including OVA)

So I'm seeing some big differences in the price of a used Eva Platinum collection on Amazon and ebay. Any recommendations for selling it?

Also, I might have an over priced Seiki blu ray as well as Madoka and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, both region 2, bundle for sale soon. Just throwing that out there.

I knew what you meant, I just didn't know that it existed or where I could buy it from.  You two are talking about it like we've all known what it was for months, and this is the first I've heard about any of this :D

Well, I found one guy selling 2nd Gig on eBay, but I still can't seem to find the first season anywhere.

I have seen a few discussions on other forums about it but nothing on here. The set is primarily being sold by KimchiDVD and there is a few photos of unboxings on other sites. No videos that I could find though.

Thanks. I've never heard of this site, and $150 / season is actually pretty tempting.

The shipping cost is high and they do that weird thing where you "order" it before seeing how much it costs. You can cancel right away though it was like ~$357 shipped for both seasons shipped via EMS. My set was delivered earlier today and I can't wait to get off work :(

Still cheaper per episode than Aniplex at least~

Yes because charging $100 for 7 episodes is a good price? Yeah...sure why not. Again, the only reason Aniplex keep their prices high in the US is to stop reserve importing by Japanese customers. They know that if the Japanese could get the sets for cheaper they would. So they price them just as high as they do in Japan.

And no one likes Super Limited releases. The only people that like those are resellers looking to make a quick buck for ripping off some poor guy that can't get the set right away. I mean yes Anime is exspensive. But there is no reason that it can't be priced fair.

I mean Aniplex caved and are finally releasing a cheaper version of SAO because of the complaints that the CE were too much. Not only that but Aniplex know that the show is popular so they are going to release a cheap version (which they should have done from the start) to cash in. So don't give me this...they are a wonderful company. They all have their faults but Aniplex aren't the God company you make them out to be. Not everyone can afford their high prices. If NISA can charge $50 for nice LE's there is no reason why AOA can't follow suit. Again we all know the main reason why they don't.

Amazon no longer permits listings for dvd/bluray with MSRP greater than $25 except for premium sellers, so that tends to skew the Amazon Marketplace costs. :(

I'll buy a limited edition Attack on Titan set, rub my dong across it, and sell it to you for $400, since it'll be a one of a kind release, would that suffice?

Common now? Am I ever serious. ;)

Will you post it on /b/? haha
It was harder to tell with yours because the whole post was actually mixed in with some things that people do kind of argue for and against, so I wasn't really sure where it was going, lol.

But yeah, I got ya now. ;D

Haven't bought any anime in awhile, but this might make me open up the old wallet.
I want that, but I really like the dub of GiTS.
I think these sets have the dub. Don't they?

Got my sets in the mail today! (There is a lenticular card on the front similar to the Attack on Titan LE's) The sets are region A so they play np on US players and also include the english dub as well as English/Japanese/Korean/no subs with the Japanese track.

The sets come with 7 BD cases each with its own lenticular slip cover as well as an art book. The 2nd Gig set also came with some pens as a pre-order bonus.

More pics!

Did you play it to make sure it's the american dub, and not some Malaysian dub?

Yes it uses the US dub. It also seems it is not region locked at all. The set uses the same transfers as the Japanese BD's and the biggest appeal is that this set has English subtitles unlike the JP box set. The subs are also the same as the R1 DVD sets.

Here are a few comparisons (credit to Vincentric from Blu-ray.com forums)
