I'm really not. Without context, using "could" as an auxiliary helping verb as in "could get" expresses a present possibility. Had you stated "A few months ago, you could get...", or, as I previously suggested, "You could have gotten...", then your intent would have been clear.

Should I pre-order MGSV before Tuesday for the $10 gift certificate, or wait until Black Friday for a steeper discount? If anyone is familiar with previous years where AAA games released in the same time frame, is it likely that that the game will be $40 or less pre-GCU?

You're definitely right, it's just that I have plenty of other games that I want to go through. I don't like having too many games in my backlog, I get to the point where I don't feel like playing ANY of them lol. Since it IS one of my favorite series though, I might have have to make an exception.

 
Any logic behind which games they chose for this deal and which ones they pass over? Seeing as games as late as 2016 are on the list, does that mean BB has already finalized which games will be eligible for the rest of the year? No chance something else will be added for the holidays?

What major holiday season 2015 games aren't part of it? I noticed the Taken King isn't (wasn't base Destiny part of the deal last year?) Super Mario Maker. Tony Hawk? Yoshi World? Rock Band?

Really wanted Taken King and SMM part of this. Wouldn't have to bother with another store this year.

It's up to the publisher, otherwise Best Buy would be taking a big loss on each pre-order sold.

Anyone else try to get Mad Max and the Mad Max Movie $10 off deal and have it not apply online?

I'm assuming it's due to my 20% GCU discount, but I kind of don't want to bother calling in to get this to work.

Pretty much sums it up. I'm not one to preorder very often, but with GCU, $10 in rewards, and it being MGSV:pP a game I've been looking forward to for years now, it's preorder worthy for me.

Whoa, is there some type of discount for this? I've already pre-purchased the Mad Max movie and I'm strongly considering pre-ordering the game tomorrow morning.

Ps4 version of MGSV runs at a higher resolution, might as well go with that. Dunno about Mad Max, but generally if you have a choice, PS4 is the way to go.

Meanwhile, my Mad Max shipped but MGSV CE is still preparing... Don't fuck me on this, Best Buy.
 
Ps4 is the best console to choose if Wii U isn't an option. Games run like 1000000x better and are just amazing. A guy told me.

I do have some witty pick up lines. I just went through a divorce myself last year and was forced to sell some of my stock to pay my ex-wife and the lawyers. If you could tell me where she works a simple pay raise should make her interested in me (hopefully) and you can move on.

I hoard my digital downloads, with comcast (in "special areas", AKA areas w no competition), there is this thing call Data Cap. It is capped at 300GB per month which is not enough.

That's fucked up, but I would think in that case you would be buying games on disc anyway, so reinstalling (patches aside) wouldn't affect that.

The deal is real and I would try it in-store and online on Tuesday as the promo may not be coded to work with the pre-order of Mad Max but only the purchase. As the terms of the promotion state Valid on in-stock items only. If it doesn't show make sure to show a Best Buy store employee the ad and they should have no problem adjusting the price for you.
