 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

The Jojo dvd's are coming out soon. Any news on it? Still not a lot is known about the specifics of the release. I still need to know if it is multilingual, how much they've changed, like if the subs are name changed or if the ed's are still present. possibility of a blu-ray release...
No word on a BD release though the full series is available dubbed in HD on Amazon Instant Video (for a price). AFAIK the name changes are the same as the manga and it will be dual audio with english subs. I remember the initial press release saying dub only, but I also remember somewhere saying it was a mistake (trying to look for it but I think it was from Shawnek on Fandompost somewhere)

According to RS, both seasons will be the uncensored video masters.

Hmm, thanks. I'm gonna wait for this to actually come out or for more official confirmation on all the details and reviews. Not gonna preorder.

I'm probably the only one here with a MovieStop, but today and tomorrow all Used movies there are Buy 1 Get 2 for $0.50. Yes, I am serious.

I loved Death Note when it came out,but I can't see it aging well on a rewatch. The characters are very black and white with no real shades of gray. Then the last half which is a prime example of "we need to pad our story out longer than it needs to be".

Death Note was good, but it's not really worth a second watch when you know what happens. The manga was only marginally better, so it wasn't really worth reading either.

The problem with the second half, obviously, was

you're supposed to like the two kids as much as L, but no one did.

And whether the shinigami helped Light was always a deus ex machina. Whenever the story needed Ryuk et al to help Light, they did. When the story needed them to interfere, they did.

Code Geass was better in that sense, where rules were more consistent.

Funimation has been seemingly been AWOL on a lot of movies from their anime properties. Eva... Steins;gate... and hell, doesn't One Piece have over a dozen movies that they never touched? It seems Funimation is only concerned with anime based movies that will get them a lot of cash from theater showings.
Funimation needs to get moving on that Code Geass license they picked up a few years back. I'd instantly buy that series on blu ray.

Confrmed WB already messed up on JoJo with dubtitles and menus (credit to BigOnAnime @fandompost). I guess it was to be expected from a non-anime publisher but still sad to hear since I love the series.

Thanks for keeping me informed. I guess the only good to come out of this is that I wont have to spend the money.

This release is unacceptable and I hope nobody buys it. WB shouldn't be rewarded for this.

So they should be punished for dubbing one of my favorite shows and releasing it at an absurdly low price? Am I on the right website?

It's an unfortunate situation all around, between being forced to use DVD only by the Japanese side and general laziness altogether from WB, but still it's a miracle we're getting it at all considering Jojo's troubled past with making it overseas. While I'd prefer a better all around release, I don't really buy anime for the subs, and shitty menus are not worth boycotting anything over. I'm expecting this in the mail next week and I will enjoy the hell out of it.

Getting closer to hitting that 'cancel' button for Jojo on Amazon. Guess that delay didn't help the quality of the release much. I mean it's still a great deal of content for the release but I guess we didn't expect it to be perfect.

Maybe in the BD release... you know, if that ever happens.

Those menus are standard fare for WB releases. Every DVD and Blu-ray they have released for the past 5 years or so have had the exact same menu, just different background and color scheme.

That makes me think of Brad Bird's talking about a blu-ray release for Iron Giant, but WB had said "bare bones", and he said " fuck you"

From RS:

VizMedia is releasing the complete series of Death Note on Blu-ray! The Omega Edition even includes two feature-length films Re-light #1 and #2, along with a host of other features. They're releasing in December and we couldn't be more excited!
Check them out now!
Omega Edition: http://www.rightstufanime.com/Death-...dition-Blu-ray
Standard Edition: http://www.rightstufanime.com/Death-Note-Blu-Ray
Sold. I pre-ordered Omega edition. Seems like a fair price for the episodes + movies. What's Rightstuf's policy on pre-orders? They let you cancel before it ships or are they anal? Just thinking in case a deal comes out between now and when it ships.

They let you cancel as long as you do it before it ships. You just need to contact them via email/live chat. For pre-orders they ship them as soon as they get them.

Just remember RS for most pre-orders just ship things out as soon as they get them, so might want to be careful about that if you're watching the date as it gets closer.

Also, if you pay with Paypal on RS, you will be charged immediately even if you used a CC on Paypal.

HOUSTON, SEPTEMBER 16, 2015 – Sentai Filmworks is proud to announce its latest acquisition, Locodol. It is OK. It's not as good as a true HD Master, but you will likely only be able to truly tell the difference if you're a videophile.
The video can be slightly sharper than a DVD if it is upscaled properly, but yes, certainly not anything like true HD video. There are two major improvements you can get with a Blu-ray upscale, though - first, getting subtitles in HD - if you're a subber like me, then the subs can be much clearer and easier to read than the SD subs on the DVD version. The second thing is the potential for HD audio, which can be a big benefit as well, especially if you have a decent sound system to listen through - although not so many anime get an HD audio upgrade from their DVD counterpart as do Hollywood movies...

Speaking of HD upscales, I really wish they would release Ah my Goddess season 1 and 2 on blu-ray, I would buy them in a millisecond

Eh, I bit on FMA on Blu. I don't understand why it wasn't this cheap to begin with. Brotherhood is obviously the superior series but the original definitely has a lot more charm and nostalgia involved. Not to mention a lot of weird non-canon stuff that either sort of works or is just downright weird.
Furry Tucker

The soundtrack is great with setting the mood of any scene. Especially any scene with the feels. And FMA is a very feel-driven series. They should put that on the box.

Is Riddle Story of Devil any good? The show's name doesn't exactly roll off one's tongue. Description sounds interesting, though.
haha there are quite a lot of those in the anime world.

Here is the trailer for it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyDGMpg-3BM

And I do know that at least episode one is floating around out there if you are interested in checking it out before you buy.

Fairy Tail Collection Five dropped to $35 on Amazon. With that $5 GC for trying their app I got it down to $30 (before taxes). Winner for me :)

That reminds me I still need to buy collection 4 and start watching the series. Too bad I have alot of anime and will take awhile before I get to fairy tail -_-

I want a Follow Up Season that adapts the last parts of the Manga. Or OVAs.

Seems like they are actually trying to push the series more and more now. After buying collection 2 I caught up on the series back when I had my Funimation Elite trial. I think Collection 4 and 5 have bits of filler in them. The longer filler arc isn't too bad if you marathon it.

The Fairy Tail collections are awesome.  I struggle to justify buying a lot of these other Funimation sets that are $30-35+ for 325 minutes.  But I can totally do 600 minutes for $35.  You don't feel so bad paying that kind of money for something even though you know there is going to be 300+ episodes.  Even at just 300 episodes you're looking at spending $315+ at that rate.

I'm still waiting for a Bleach complete collection on Blu-Ray.  I'd even buy a cut up version without all the filler episodes and seasons.

Me too, that's exactly what I want from Bleach. Unfortunately it will never happen. They paid for those filler episodes, so they gotta make money off them! Something like the One Piece set where they had a ton of episodes in one box would work great for Bleach, particularly since it's done (for now).

I would if I had a time machine.

Seriously, for all but 5 locations, it's already over. For 3 of the 5 remaining, today is the last day.

Unless you're in Albuquerque or Chicago, you're already SOL.

I'm in Chicago. I just found out about it the other day, debating on going or not.
Do it. Do it for Nico. Or Nozomi.
