haha i can verify this is the truth. i owned the disc when core fighters went free. tried to hook my friend up with all the characters and it didnt work.

also, core fighters has been free once before, right? i think i already had it before i bought my disc (bought disc at fry's for $10).

The trial (what the free thing is now) was free and allowed all achievements to be unlocked.

 
$5 code here as well.  Rewards member from day 3, buy a lot of stuff digitally (on sale like any good CAG), have completed some missions and was almost a tier two at some point until the reset last summer. It's five more than zero, I guess...

 
This is an outrage, how dare they not compensate me for not using a service I haven't used since I forgot about it a few weeks after I signed up.

On a serious note, it's really weird that they started at 50 and worked down. Why not do the opposite, you spend the same amount and makes it more interesting.

 
Is BLOPS 3 campaign anything like the last COD game? I think I skipped the last game, but loved BLOPS 3 campaign. First few missions were standard linear COD boringness then it opened up and got much better. The abilities made it feel like I was playing something more like CombatBirth alpha/beta thing than a COD game. Story is ok. Feels like after a certain big Marvel movie, few games are doing a somewhat similar story. Levels get really trippy at the end and overall every level looked amazing. Had I known about the hidden and unlockable modes, I would've picked it up when MS Store had it for $30.

Unlockable/Hidden Stuff
After completing the campaign, you unlock Nightmares mode. This mode is zombies campaign. You play through the standard campaign, but with new dialogue, new story, zombies instead of people/robots, power ups from zombies mode, and magic mystery weapon box. I had no idea this was even in the game.

Same with the next mode, I had no idea. There is a lengthy twin stick shooter mode hidden in the safe house. It even has a story about a gorilla, chicken, and human love triangle.

I didn't get a chance to play MP. Did play a couple rounds of new zombies map. It feels so big and scary.

This is sort of off topic, but did anyone who got BLOPS or SW:BF from the Microsoft Store Sale on Sunday morning still have their orders processing? I did use a Golden Crisps coupon to bring it down to $20, not sure if that is related to the issue or not.

I have it - and, yes, it does have some technical issues. Very long loading times, game freezing and some frame rate problems, too.

It is not unplayable by any means. Still a fun game - but I might suggest waiting for a patch.

JC3 suffers from the Ubisoft problem, in that there are like 50 zones, each with 5-8 little camps/towers, and you have to go through and clear each camp of crap.  Its fun the first 5-10 times, but after that its just the same thing over, and over, and over.  

Technically you don't need to clear everything, you can just do the bare minimum per island, but the story missions are unlocked behind clearing a few per island.  It gets annoying after a bit.

If you played Mad Max its similar, and far far worse than Far Cry 4 or the Assassins Creed games.  I loved those two, even plat'd them on my PS4, but I'm not sure I will ever finish Mad Max or JC3.

Just Cause 2 did that way before it was in every Ubisoft game. For me, that was the best part of JC2, as I did the two required story missions and spent the next 70+ hours exploring Panau, liberating villages and bases, and gathering collectibles. It was so much fun to just traverse the world and blow some shit up, which isn't much of a thing in most Ubisoft games.

 
I'm really enjoying Just Cause. Haven't had a lot of framerate issues or anything, but the loading times are really long as Blinknot had said. It's very chaotic and fun, and there seems to be a fair amount to do. I never played much of the first two either so I haven't been burnt out on the series yet

Darksiders 1 felt very Zelda-ish. I really liked it, didn't like Darksiders 2 as much but still a good game. They're both worth playing though. Been so long since I played them so can't remember too much.

To me that was the worst part of the game because it all felt like filler. None of it really had any affect on the game as a whole, let alone the story, besides leveling up Rico, his weapons and vehicles, at a painstakingly slow rate. By the time I was done with JC2 I was done with Avalanche's games in general.

DS 2 has a lot of puzzles but don't take a lot of brain work. Most of the trouble comes with the platforming, for me at least. I loved the loot system though and highly recommend the game.

The first darksiders is much smaller in comparison and part two did away with a lot of the complex maneuvering. I remember at one point in part 1 you had to press a trigger, hold a bumper, tap three face buttons and a direction on the control stick just to do one move. It got crazy complex and I stopped playing at that point. I never reached that point in part 2



In other news, I just got email from Mr. Bill Gates himself telling me I've been chosen to receive $5,000,000. Score! No more haggling with Nigerian princes!

I wasn't playing for the story, but it would've been nice if what pretty much the entire game is actually had consequence. Because it's not like the bases, villages, etc. had much variety to them. It's all the same type of buildings, silos, etc., which doesn't really affect how the army acts. You could have liberated one village or all but the last village, and they act the exact same. At least with GTA there's a progression to the opposition forces.

And the one point at the end of the game where it looks like playing the factions is finally going to amount to something, it's nothing more than selecting a faction for a few fodder soldiers.


 
Good sale this week. Doom games, Plants vs. Zombies, Bejeweled 3, Zuma games. Can't go wrong with any of them.

But I already own these so it's a pass for me this week.

Yeah, I didn't engage with any of that stuff, so I don't care if it wasn't great. I had a blast exploring the island, liberating villages, and gathering collectibles, which was better than any other sandbox game out there, much less open world games.

 
Seeing Tales of the Borderlands Season Pass hit $3.75 on PS Plus makes me hopeful that price will come during the Countdown to 2016 sale. Just gotta hold onto this $15 MS recently gave me as I'm sure there will be great deals then.............right?................

 
God, I'm thinking about it, and there are so many games that are coming out (some potentially) in 2016. Like holy fuck Scalebound, KH3(hope), Crackdown 3, Doom, Sea of Thieves, Mirrors Edge, Homefront, Dishonored 2, FFXV, For Honor, Quantum Break, Mafia 3, Hitman, Gears of War 4, it's just nuts!!!!!!!

Not to mention all of the annual titles as well, looking forward to the next AC honestly as well as the next Far Cry(maybe).

Don't sweat it. I got my Thanksgiving controllers a week ago, but my games didn't ship until yesterday. They're probably just swamped with orders with all of these big sales.

Doesn't matter. They were discounted just the same over on the other console even though the prices were the lowest they'd been during BF. Anything can happen.

Previous Tell Tale Games(episode 1, then their season pass of eps 2-5 normally) have been discounted heavily the last few years during the countdown sales so this is something we can all we hopeful for, realistically speaking. It's a more probable discount than say SW Battlefront Season Pass getting any sort of discount
