my daughter's boyfriend wanted to switch from ps4 to xbone. He had about a dozen games, but he tossed the cases and kept them in a cd wallet. Miraculously, they were all scratch free. I did the work of tallying what he should have gotten for trade in. Even though he knew the number, he didnt say anything when the associate gave him a number $30 less. Dirty jerk hit him with a refurb fee for every freaking game. Going to burn Micheal in the survey tomorrow and request to speak to a manager or whatever. Total crap.

I bought a used 360 and the manager gave me her utmost assurances everything was in the box and hard drive and all. I paid for a 320 GB slim and they gave me a 250 gb and a power supply without the wall cord. 😢 So salty right now.

Burn your daughters boyfriend too. I'd be worried about someone that can't stand up for himself against a GameStop employee

And now she can't argue with you that he's a moron.

i like the idea of she being the dominate one in the relationship.

FYI if you have a PS4 controller that's broken/has bad thumbstick pads, and you want Madden or Deus Ex, GameStop will give you $31 if you trade it towards either of those games. ($27.50 base + $5.50 bonus - $2 refurb fee.)

Not sure if anyone updated this yet, but I trade in a 360 E power supply on Sunday and it traded in with a $22 base. Just fyi.

Is it normal for the person you're complaining about to be the one to contact you?

Completed the survey and wrote out why I (the boyfriend) was dissatisfied. Within 20 minutes we got a call. It was Micheal himself. "I'm so sorry, I don't know how that happened blah blah blah."

So not only is he a scumbag, he's a lying scumbag. Of course you know how it happened. You're the one that did it.

"How can I make this right?" We said we wanted the difference credited to the pur card. He said he'd be happy to give in store credit, but he can't add it to a card. None of us want to go back there. He's a douche that tried to get over and we don't want to deal with him. But it's being made to seem that if we want recompense, we must deal with him. Seems weird to me.

You should have marked to have the DM contact you.

Didn't see that option.

First time I've ever "burned" someone. First time I ever felt it was necessary. Whenever an associate has pulled shenanigans with me personally, I politely declined the trade in and went to another store. There are a dozen of them in my area, turnover is high, and I don't want to draw unnecessary attention to my own shenanigans by becoming "known."

side note: Coincidentally, this is the first time I've seen a receipt in which the associate didn't highlight and circle the survey at the bottom in...I don't know how long. They said he didn't mention anything about it when they cashed out.  Maybe it's not a thing they push anymore or maybe there's something sinister about it. Regardless, thought it funny.

That's pretty normal, not mentioning the survey. You said you have a dozen stores in your area - you must live in a big city and the stores would have easily hundreds of customers each day. They're not going to mention the survey for every transaction because you would literally go insane if you had to do that literally every day.

I have a 40 mile commute to work, so my "area" covers a lot of ground.

Even the ones that don't mention it still quickly mark the receipt with a highlighter before handing it over. Like I said, maybe it's nothing. But it was the first time I'd seen it completely ignored since its inception.

You didn't see the giant sign that says "when you trade these select games within 30 days of release"?
No I saw the big sign at the top of the page that said

"trade any items toward a new copy of these games*"

"(includes games, hardware, accessories, iPod, iPhone, and iPad devices)"

Valid toward all versions on all platforms. Box art subject to change. Full trade value amount must be applied toward the preorder or purchase of a new copy of a participating game

I found a Walmart giftcard lying around. Problem is, I sold one to Gamestop over a year ago for over $40 and I had multiples of the same card style. Obviously, I don't have a receipt. The value of the card remained on the card, and the Gamestop rep gave me back the Walmart giftcard. Thing is, she says that I should destroy the card or I'll be prosecuted for abuse.

Gamestop doesn't dictate this stuff anymore. So in the event that it IS the card that I "sold" to Gamestop, I cannot use it. But I'm not 100% sure because I had multiples. What do I do in this situation? Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

I searched Google...... Nothing for once

sounds like you didn't actually sell them this card that you found so no harm no foul? worse case I'll take it off your hands.
That's the thing. I asked a Gamestop employee. I was told that she didn't have to keep the card, but it was up to me to kill it. They don't remove the card balance either. They just leave it there. I have to be responsible and destroy it. I didn't. I just put it away later that day. Now I have a card sitting there that I can use, but not sure if I should

It sounds like you KNOW that the card you have is the one you sold to GS, so I would just destroy it.

so you only sold them the acct number for the gift card?
I'm not sure there's a difference...

Burned a manager today because she refused a return on a system I bought last night. She didn't give me the right HDD nor power cord for the brick. I'm at a loss for words about my experience.

What are you talking about? Either use the card or dont. You are your own individual. This is issue its very black and white. Lets not elongate nothing into something.

So your saying you want us to make a moral decision for you.

Yes I have a feeling. A good feeling. But if it turned out that I killed the wrong card I will feel stupid. Guess in the end it really doesn't matter. Gamestop no longer buys Giftcards so I can't follow up on it. Even the manager was stumped on the question

If they don't come back with a solution then you have the right to do a chargeback if you paid with a credit card. Though, my next step would be to call the 1800 line and tell them to help you out here.

Come on now. Your original question says what do i do in this situation? Youre being as general as possible about something thats very cut and dry. Then youre acting naive about peoples responses. Quit being coy through the internet. Cookie monster gave you a solution. The end.

If it's cut and dry why would a store manager not have an answer? Look I'm not here to back and forward about your opinion, if you don't know then cool. You don't have a response other than flames then whatever. It's decided now. I'll just use the card and move on with whatever happens. Thanks to those who helped.
