Humble Bundle Thread

Humble clarified that you can't donate to charity of your choice for the Capcom PS bundle.  Oh well.  Will have to donate to dirty kids instead of the cute puppies in the animal shelter.

Just got done chatting with Sony support.  My request to have Remember Me and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix removed from my account is under review and will take between 3-5 business days?!

Without consoles, you think PC nowadays would have so many variety of games?
Of course. You think people would have stopped making games if not for consoles? You'd just be playing them on a different device. The earliest consoles (arcade games) were just offshoots of games made by computer scientists as programming experiments.

Without Xbox Live, you think PC online services like Steam / Origin are what they are today?
Downloading games dates back at least as far as the 1980s so I'm going to guess "yes".

Also, you might be shocked to learn this, but the parent company of that "XBox Live" thing also has a tiny fingerprint in the PC software industry.

Hey guys, where would baseball be without consoles, huh?  You think without console baseball games anyone would know how to play baseball for real?  And what about wars?  If it wasn't for Call of Duty, we wouldn't even have machine guns!

Call of Duty was a PC game first :)

The All Seeing Eye and Carentan for hours on end. Good shit.

Great bundle if you have a playstation...think this might be the first time i'll buy a premium tier so far.

And the HIB additions aren't too bad, anytime there are additions that aren't extreme repeats like Psychobundle it's a win

Dang, this is a great deal, but like others above, all I want is Resident Evil HD (could take or leave Resi 0 HD and the DMC HD collection). Anyone looking to go halfsies?
I might have gotten in on this if cyko hadn't responded first (darn work getting in the way...) Anyone else interested in a split? All I really want is Resident Evil Zero PS4.

If you want a glowing review of Remember Me, ask Syntaxerror. If he can't convince you to buy that game, nobody can
Underrated game; was quite good.

It could've been great, if it didn't take a first few hours to really get going somewhere in both the gameplay + story department.

Played it on PC, of course.

Remember Me was awful with shitty controls, terrible boss fights, insultingly hand-holding linear game play (including a glowing path in case you're dumb as stump) and a dull plot.  Eventually, I dropped the difficulty down to Easy just to burn through it, realized I didn't even care that much and thought about just watching the memory cut scenes on YouTube and then never did.

The sole redeeming feature of the game is that, if you set the vocals to French with English subtitles, it sort of looks like some foreign existential sci-fi flick for a while.

It's no Life is Strange, that's for sure.

soon enough everything will reverse from the state of pc v. console a few years ago....steam will continue to drift into offering mediocre discounts on early access games during their sales, humble will start offering more and more console bundles with the success of their nintendo ones (and i'd bet this one will sell insanely well), and before you know it ps+ and xbox live will start hosting huge sales events with meta games and flashes and community votes and everyhing will be 75% off, and xbox and playstation will start releasing yearly consoles like phones so graphics will be semi comparable to pc. all hegemonies fall eventually

not sure how much of that im joking about

It's called market segmentation folks. If you can get a bunch of people (in this case console peasants) to pay more for a product than other consumers (PC bundle buyers) - let them. Humble would be more than happy to take that extra money off their hands.

To those that responded to my post earlier, I said Xbox Live as pioneer in terms of unified network that worked. I wasn't taking about who was able to distribute digital software first or was able to play games online first. So ever since Xbox Live came, all major online networks are following that formula.

PC has variety, sure but without consoles, would PC get any major Japanese game? I don't recall ever seeing a AAA PC exclusive Japanese game.

We have plenty of deviant games that are PC exclusive, thank you very much. Just ask nitrosmob. Have you ever hypnotized your stepmother and stepsister into having sex with you on a console? I didn't think so.

That BTA went up real high. Really only interested in RE HD remakes and dmc.
Hello,
if someone bought a bundle, I'd need the following games:

LOST PLANET 3
SUPER STREET FIGHTER 2 TURBO HD REMIX
REMEMBER ME
MEGAMAN 9 & 10

Could send some paypal, let me know. You may keep all the 1$ tier plus Resident Evil HD and Okami HD. If you go for the 15$ bundle you can keep RE 0 HD and DMC Trilogy HD too. I just need the games i listed.

Thank you. :)

PS: Send me a pm too.

yea, not really that either

The pc had plenty of unified networks that hosted multiple online games and large communities (if thats what your calling a unified network sans downloads/purchases). There was mplayer in '97 that had over 3mil people, gamespy, battle.net which started in 96 with diablo and then had starcraft which was played worldwide. Different services to be sure, but they all hosted multitudes of online games and communities in a single location, you just had many choices vs. xbox's one

Having a single place for downloads just had an obvious extension of also incorporating online play since those games were multiplayer to begin with so it just made sense. The only diff between the console and pc is that with pc there is always a choice, the console is a walled garden so in order to get that experience it has to be provided by the OEM. So for xbox it had to be one single unified network, there are no options, but the pc was already headed that direction anyway as far as a single location for purchase/download/play

The pc still barely gets any major japanese games, but I dont think most people really care when there is still 1000x more variety already available. The lack of japanese ports isnt really concerning, especially cause they usually do a shite job of them anyway. Its also a cultural thing. Starting in the 80's with the rise of the consoles pretty much no one played on a pc in japan anymore, however if you hop the pond to korea or china thats all thats played

Thank you. The only sensible post that explains everything instead of attacking. Yes, I do remember Gamespy and that was before XBL.

I would be up for a split. Things I don't need at: Lost Planet 3, Okami, and Remember Me. Other games negotiable as well as split price.

What does "exclusive" matter? Unlike some people, I don't really care if someone else on another platform is playing the same game as me. But obviously, if consoles didn't exist, there would be all sorts of Japanese exclusives since PC would be the only distribution option

The whole "without consoles would there be THIS on PC??" argument is bizarre because if there weren't consoles everyone would just be gaming on PCs. So, uh, yeah... all that would be available on PC. If anything, consoles fragment the market and make LESS stuff available on PC since there's other options for developers.

Not really. They would stick to arcade cabinets. ;) Japanese game software development other than arcades never really picked up until Famicom and there were computers long before that. They never bothered to start in that segment.
